Dodge Ram’s Super Bowl

ABC News, by Suzan Clarke

It wasn’t flashy or filled with special effects, but Dodge Ram’s Super Bowl commercial that featured the late radio broadcaster Paul Harvey’s tribute to U.S. farmers might have won the hearts and minds of viewers Sunday night. The two-minute spot featured a series of stark photos of farmers at work. Along with a montage of still images, Harvey’s distinctive voice delivers the narration: his “So God Made a Farmer” speech, which he gave in 1978 at the National Future Farmers of America Convention. He died in 2009 at age 90. Ram commissioned 10 noted photographers, including National Geographic icon

I am an old fan of Paul Harvey. Best ad all night. Brought years to my eyes. I am not a regular churchgoer but I was appalled by the vodoo, anti-God insulting other ads. The Tide ad mocking Catholics who believe in stains and stigmata I found especially galling.

The ad was the best of the night, easily. Slate has a blog post or something up saying they cobbed it from a commercial on YouTube from farms.com. But either way - fantastic commercial. Using the actual Harvey audio was simply spectacular. The AB Clydesdale ad was a close second. :sniff:

I miss Paul Harvey. Those farmers work to pass on their farms to their children, but thanks to Obama, the death tax will force the kids to sell the farms to pay the death tax.
There is another utube video of Paul Harvey entitled If I were the Devil. I highly recommend that everyone listen to it and weep for their Country.
Paul Harvey saw this coming.

Loved this ad. I´ve watched it a couple of times. My husband didn´t know who Paul Harvey was, poor man. I kept saying "Page 2!" and he kept saying "I really don´t think I ever heard him".

That said, I will never buy a vehicle from the government regardless of how much I love their advertising.

Like it or not, the media is a powerful influence upon individuals and society as a whole, no doubt about it. The media can present factual information which encourages the best in human nature or the worst. Today´s media/TV/hollyweird´s focus has been weighted down with the worst for several decades now, but now Americans clearly are starving to see a return to the very best, as this commercial proved. This video´s focus on the American farmer touched hearts and we want to see more productions like this for obvious reasons.

...Is anyone in the dems´ media listening & getting a clue from the public´s response to this?!

Is it a successful ad campaign, if people love your ad but are no more likely to purchase your product afterwards? That´s me.

People who live in the cities have no idea where their food comes from. It just shows up in their stores and who thinks about that? I live in the country and we grow our own food. That is the difference between those who count on the stores too meet their needs and ours. When the stores no longer have food, I will have mine.

Washington - Rebecca M. Blank was a top candidate in 2011 to lead President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, but then the White House turned up something politically dangerous. “A commitment to economic justice necessarily implies a commitment to the redistribution of economic resources, so that the poor and the dispossessed are more fully included in the economic system,” Ms. Blank, a noted poverty researcher, wrote in 1992. With advisers wary of airing those views in a nomination fight, Mr. Obama passed over Ms. Blank, then a top Commerce Department official and now the chancellor of
