Get married. Get two jobs at Walmart or another store or a restaurant that pay $8/hour. That´s a starting wage of $32,000. Work hard and soon you will be making $40,000. Live with a parent for one or two years if there is room. If not, rent a cheap 1-bedroom apartment.

Mr. Jackson avoids the truth that murderers can be rich, poor, or in between. He wants another giant, expensive, and misdirected "government" program to waste more time, effort, and money on lies. Why doesn´t he speak truth? Is he not the same Jesse Jackson who - years ago - admitted that when he was walking at night and heard footsteps behind him that he was relieved to see that it was a white person?
I thought "ministers" were supposed to "minister" to their people. Why isn´t Mr. Jackson "ministering" to the people in the areas where murders are so prevalent?

Poverty in America is a relative concept. While one might understand crimes committed in order to secure survival needs or even the basic comforts of life, it is most unlikely that urban street gang killings fall into this category. Thus it is misleading and confusing to attribute such behavior to poverty. The truth is more likely the reverse: the social pathology of "urban," i.e. lower class black culture is the result, not of poverty, but of government´s attempts to combat it by welfare.

I have no data whatever - but I would wager that the great majority of "urban youth" committing murder and other crimes are the products of trans-generational welfare "families," i.e. matriarchies of uneducated welfare mothers and grandmothers.

Gang activity is atavistic and driven by something besides poverty, even if poverty in any real sense happened to exist. Just because people are poor does not mean they will establish gangs and engage in antisocial activity. Jesse Jackson should know better than this. Talk like his is a major reason it is difficult to do anything about the problem. The problem, whatever the cause, is not poverty.

It could in part be boredom. Young males with nothing to do, supported in most cases by welfare, barely if at all literate, possessing no marketable skills, naturally look for excitement and purpose in their lives. Of course the drug trade is a significant element as well.

Poverty is probably on the long list of ails that afflict the black culture but it isn´t in the Top 10. Rhymin´ Jesse knows how to fix the ails, give me some more money and I can make it disappear in an instant.

Jesse always has been a charlatan and will remain one until he pushes up some daises.
