CBS to interview Obama during
Super Bowl pregame show

The Hill [Washington DC], by Peter Schroeder

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 2/3/2013 1:48:49 PM

President Obama will give a live interview to CBS before it airs the Super Bowl on Sunday. At 4:30 pm, Obama will field questions from CBS´s Scott Pelley, continuing a long-standing tradition of providing interviews to the network airing the NFL championship, usually the most-watched television event of the year. Last year, Obama spoke with Matt Lauer before NBC broadcast the big game. Pelley told The New Orleans Times-Picayune that he will talk pigskin with the president, but also has a range of "serious questions" to tackle.

Does this guy *ever* stop chasing the narcissism? It´s amazing they´d allow him within 100 yards of anything game related - given his recent ´urging´ to ´tackle the violence inherent in football´...

On the bright side, if any viewers find ´emselves having ingested anything less than ´healthy´ - and can´t find their Syrup of Ipecac - they can always tune in for some timely retch-inducing video...

I don´t care!

There are still thousands of Hurricane Sandy victims without power. If we focused on them, Obama wouldn´t dare show his face right now.

Why is he EVERYWHERE? Yapping about NOTHING?

It remins me of one of my favorite quotations for Shakespears Macbeth...in fact I texted to my SIL the night of Obamas speech at the Dem convention in 2008. He had just texted me that it was the greatest speech ever given it US history. (He´s young)

Rather than fighting with him I texted;

"Out, out, brief candle! Life´s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Macbeth (Act V, Scene V).

I never got a reply...Obama has been strutting, telling his tales far longer than his alloted hour. Time to get off the stage.

A federal court has ruled that an American school student has a right to free expression -- unless that American might be threatened for that expression by others, in which case state officials have the right to quash the offending expression to appease potential aggressors. Which, ipso facto, means Americans have no right to free expression at all. For if it’s not the government’s role to protect expression that is thought to be offensive by a vicious mob, what purpose does the First Amendment have? “Safe” expression needs no protection, after all. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled upon the constitutionality of a decision

WASHINGTON — The recovery appeared to be reaching escape velocity at the end of December, but it turns out the economy wasn´t expanding quite as fast as initially thought — and that doesn´t bode well for hopes of a breakout this year. The Commerce Department sharply reduced its estimate of fourth-quarter growth to a moderate 2.4% annual rate. Friday´s revision downsized big gains in consumer spending and exports from its initial estimate of 3.2% in January. The updated figures on total economic output, known as gross domestic product, indicated the economy entered this year with less momentum than analysts had

The Walt Disney Company has given notice to the Boy Scouts of America that it will pull all funding to the group starting in 2015 because of a BSA membership policy that bans gay leaders, the entertainment company said Friday. Disney does not give money directly to the national organization or local BSA councils. However, through its VoluntEARS program, Disney allows employees to do volunteer work in exchange for cash donations to the charities of their choice. Employees taking part in the VoluntEARS program will no longer be able to submit the funds to the Boy Scouts, the organization said.

On Thursday night, the best assessment from the U.S. intelligence community—and for that matter most experts observing events in Ukraine—was that Vladimir Putin’s military would not invade Ukraine. Less than 24 hours later, however, there are reports from the ground of Russian troops pushing into the Ukrainian province of Crimea. It’s hardly a full-blown invasion. But it’s not quite the picture U.S. analysts were painting just a day before. There was good reason to think Putin wouldn’t do it. Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov told Secretary of State John Kerry that Russia respected the territorial integrity of the Ukraine. U.S.

Finding a trove of 19th century gold coins was an unexpected windfall for a California couple, but what comes next is one of life´s great certainties: taxes. The couple is likely to lose about half the coins´ value in taxes to the U.S. government, thanks to a 1969 tax case called Cesarini v. United States. In the 45-year-old case, a husband and wife bought a used piano for $15 but found about $4,500 stashed inside. Although they argued that the money shouldn´t be taxed, the court found in favor of the IRS. That means that the unnamed California couple who

A treaty signed in 1994 by the US and Britain could pull both countries into a war to protect Ukraine if President Putin´s troops cross into the country. Bill Clinton, John Major, Boris Yeltsin and Leonid Kuchma – the then-rulers of the USA, UK, Russia and Ukraine - agreed to the The Budapest Memorandum as part of the denuclearization of former Soviet republics after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Technically it means that if Russia has invaded Ukraine then it would be difficult for the US and Britain to avoid going to war. The revelation comes as reports suggest the

Minutes after issuing a stern warning to Russia and saying there will be a price to pay if it interferes militarily in Ukraine, President Obama headed to a “happy hour” with fellow Democrats. Speaking at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, Mr. Obama struck a very different tone than he had less than 30 minutes earlier, when he appeared with little warning in the White House press briefing room and issued a vague threat to Moscow. “Well, it’s Friday. Kerry Kennedy has been found not guilty of drugged driving — and gave herself a hearty round of applause after jurors were dismissed from court by a Westchester County judge. The jury handed down the verdict after just 30 minutes of deliberation Friday morning. The six-member panel had deliberated about 45 minutes Thursday night after being handed the case. Kennedy — who had faced up to a year in jail if convicted — hugged both her lawyers as the verdict was read, and then began clapping after the jurors left the courtroom. President Barack Obama has launched a new program to help African American boys and drew on the low points in his youth during a speech this afternoon. ´I made bad choices. I got high, not always thinking about the harm it could do. I didn´t always take school as seriously as I should have. I made excuses. Sometimes I sold myself short,´ Obama said in the East Room of the White House on Thursday. The question isn’t why Arthur Chu brought his peculiar, buzzer-smacking brand of game play to “Jeopardy.” The question is why, in 50 long years of the show’s history, more people haven’t done the same. Chu, if you haven’t heard of him, is the “Jeopardy” contestant nonchalantly bulldozing America’s collective nostalgic vision for how game shows should work, who cruised to his eighth straight victory on Thursday night. The insurance compliance technician from Ohio who is also a “stand-up comedian, Shakespearean actor, improviser, tour guide, genius and, most importantly, voiceover artist,” according to his Web site — has used his renegade style

Former President Bill Clinton has signed on to promote a new Democratic voter project, claiming that the GOP is trying with voter identification laws to block divorced women, college students, blacks, the disabled and younger Americans from voting. “There is no greater assault on our core values than the rampant efforts to restrict the right to vote,” Clinton said in a YouTube video distributed as part of the Democratic Party´s new Voter Expansion Project unveiled Thursday.

SEVASTOPOL, Ukraine — Heightened Russian military activity in Crimea on Friday prompted a stern warning from President Obama and a deepening sense of crisis among the leaders of the new Ukrainian government in Kiev. U.S. officials said Russian troops had entered Crimea, and Obama told reporters Friday evening that he was “deeply concerned by reports of military movements” and that there “will be costs for any military intervention.” Earlier in the day, the new Ukrainian government said that hundreds of soldiers in green camouflage, without insignia but carrying military-style automatic rifles, had taken over two airports in Crimea.
