It would be nice if winter only lasted 6 more weeks here in SE MI. The biggest thing I miss about living further south (like Ohio or Indiana not down in the South) is tht we rarely have Spring. Usually it stays pretty cold until June and then we suddenly have 85 degree weather. Where are those gentle 60-75 degree days (without frost) that I´m used to? I´m tired of wearing snow boots with my Easter dress.

Weather is so unpredictable, and always has been, that we amuse ourselves with the opinion of a rodent.

And you want to tell me about global warming?

#3, that is definitely an upper Midwest frustration - no spring, just winter to summer (and road construction). But the falls are beautiful!

Today is the one and only true Groundhog Day.
The rest are simply out there riding the coat tails of the Punxsutawney hero.
BTW... they are good eating.

Nearly six months after the disastrous launch of Healthcare.gov, with the website running smoothly and more than five million people signed up as open enrollment heads to a close, a new glitch has come to light: Incorrect poverty-level guidelines are automatically telling what could be tens of thousands of eligible people they do not qualify for subsidized insurance. The error in the federal marketplace primarily affects households with incomes just above the poverty line in states like Pennsylvania that have not expanded Medicaid. The mistake raises the price of their insurance by thousands of dollars, making insurance so unaffordable many

Playing classical music such as Beethoven and Mozart to young children boosts their concentration and self-discipline, a new study suggests. Youngsters also improve their general listening and social skills by being exposed to repertoires from composers including Ravel, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. In addition, they are likely to appreciate a wider range of music in later years, according to a study from the Institute of Education, (IoE), University of London.

As the teller consulted with her manager, police say the suspect made a break for it, exiting the bank through the back door.

LOS ANGELES – Two-time Oscar-winning actress, political activist and philanthropist Jane Fonda came under fire Thursday after it was revealed that her Jane Fonda Foundation hasn’t made a single charitable donation in the past five years, even though it’s worth almost $800,000. According to federal tax filings obtained by FOX411 and first published on The Smoking Gun, the Atlanta-based organization – of which Fonda is listed as president and chairman of the board, but receives no monetary compensation – was founded in 2004 and spent its first two years giving away large sums of money. Three years ago, New Jersey regulators suspended abortion provider Steven Brigham´s medical license for endangering and deceiving patients. During the suspension hearing, he testified that he was covered by medical malpractice insurance. Now, as Brigham, 57, tries to regain his license, New Jersey prosecutors have submitted evidence that his sworn statement was yet another lie. They allege that not only did he stop carrying required liability insurance around 2006, but last month produced a phony insurance policy when forced to back up the statement.

Yesterday, in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, President Obama addressed the problems caused by his incessantly-repeated pledge to the American public that “if you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” As millions of Americans receive cancellation letters in the mail, however, that pledge looked increasingly strained. “I am sorry that they, you know, are finding themselves in this situation, based on assurances they got from me,” the President said last night. In the course of his interview, however, Mr. Obama made

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. A few months back, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stated for the record that 7 million Obamacare sign-ups by the end of March would constitute success. She was clear about it. A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night. Others were already insured, including millions who lost coverage when their existing policies were suddenly

A RAND study pours buckets of cold water on the Obama administration’s claims that it has nearly reached 7 million sign-ups for Obamacare. The whole point of Obamacare, supposedly, was to insure the uninsured and bend the cost curve down. Those who had insurance were supposed to be able to keep it. Families were supposed to start saving about $2500 a year. If you believed the Obama administration. Reality, according to RAND‘s study, is that the Obama administration’s 7 million figure is deceptive. Supposing 7 million have actually signed up and paid their first premium — which is not a given,

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
