Ed Koch, Betrayed by Obama
Breitbart Big Government, by Joel B. Pollak

Original Article

Posted By:ScarletPimpernel, 2/1/2013 4:00:42 PM

Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch, who passed away today at the age of 88, was in the news until just a few weeks ago, reacting--angrily--to the nomination of former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) as Secretary of Defense. Koch had a visceral understanding of the evil and danger of Islamic terrorism--he had Daniel Pearl´s last words inscribed on his tombstone--and in the last few years of his life, he became alarmed at the anti-Israel drift of his Democratic Party, particularly under the leadership of President Barack Obama, whom he felt had betrayed him.

Comments:
Here is a photo of Mayor Koch´s tombstone:

Note the verse from Deuteronomy 6:4 as well.

A man who spent his entire life in politics, as Koch did, should have been a lot more astute in dealing with Obama.

If L-dotters could see that Obama is guilty of mendacity, surely a master politician like Koch should have seen it.

Did Koch´s desire to remain relevant and powerful blind him to reality?

RIP, Mr. Koch.

No. Koch betrayed those who looked to him for electoral advice.

The tombstone speaks more loudly than B.0. ever can - and it names the enemy. Thank you, Mr. Mayor, for speaking to us from beyond this soil.

If Koch felt betrayed by Zerobama he would barely have standing room in the crowd. Remember, Obama never fooled anyone in his entire sorry life, that did not willfully want to be mislead.

Koch was not betrayed by Obama, he was betrayed by his gullibility.

Koch betrayed himself and his ideals. He knew Obama would shift course but he endorsed him anyway.

He was a good man but his legacy would have been much stronger had he backed Romney in support of Israel. Instead, he will be remembered for endorsing Obama despite his anti-Israel leanings. It´s a real shame.

"Global jihad is at our doorstep," said the head of Israel´s Military Intelligence this week. Unlike our media and politicians, Major-General Aviv Kochavi is paid to see reality without fear or favor, and to tell it like it is. American conservatives have thought so at least since the Twin Towers bombing in 2001, and some, like Andy McCarthy, have known it since the Blind Sheikh tried to truck-bomb the World Trade Center in 1993.

Watching a woman give birth in the street is a situation which would make many of us panic. So spare a thought for these unfortunate bystanders who were caught up in a hilarious prank which saw a ´mother-to-be´ go into labour and give birth to a small person which then chased after them. In the hilarious footage posted on LiveLeak and filmed in Egypt, a heavily ´pregnant´ woman is seen grabbing her stomach as she staggers along a seafront promenade.

The world has seen the royal baby for the first time as the future king left hospital with his ecstatic parents this evening, who revealed they had not yet chosen a name. Prince William and Kate waved and smiled broadly to the waiting cameras as they held their prince on the steps of the private Lindo Wing at St Mary´s Hospital in London, 26 hours after he was delivered, weighing 8lbs 6oz. The Duke of Cambridge followed the steps his parents Charles and Diana took with him 31 years ago, when he was born there on June 21, 1982.

One of the axioms utilized by H.L. Mencken in analyzing politics in the United States stated that Americans were unable to grasp arguments on their face and instead needed them recast in pure Manichean terms, with the most repellent of devils on one side and the purest of angels on the other. Mencken was on to something there, something that still holds true today, as is shown by the debate concerning the NSA scandal. This scandal is being fought out -- particularly among conservatives -- on purely Manichean grounds.

So, in a desperate attempt "the Obama administration created a marketing campaign for Obamacare that made it cool and hip" by "reaching out to the NFL, the NBA and Hollywood for help, and counting down the days to Oct. 1, when enrollment in the exchanges officially begins." Further, "The administration is in a good position to secure splashy endorsements, as Obama´s 2008 and 2012 campaigns had a deep bench of celebrity surrogates."

One of the most persistently alluring but frightening themes of science-fiction films features creatures able to transform themselves into any form they´d like. The power to shift one´s self into any form at any given moment by a sheer act of will, also a theme of traditional mythology and folklore, means that for the shape-shifter, nothing is permanently solid material. "Reality" is illusory because it is infinitely malleable. Reality is whatever you want it to be at any given moment.

Conservatives have recently woken up to President Obama´s attempt to pack the D.C. Circuit court of appeals with liberal judges. What little attention the media has dedicated to court packing has entirely revolved around that court. While it is understandable that the media is focused on the D.C. Circuit, one of the most prestigious courts in the country, it is a mistake to ignore the President´s even more outrageous attempt to pack another court with sympathetic judges. The United States Court of Federal Claims is a specialty court located just across the street from the White House.

Marc Thiessen makes a point I was preparing to write up, and wish I had written: The real culprit behind James Clapper’s false testimony to Congress regarding NSA data collection isn’t Clapper, but rather Sen. Ron Wyden who asked the question to which Clapper responded. Since Thiessen went first, I’ll let him explain: What is outrageous is not that Clapper tried to protect classified information in an open session, but that Senator Ron Wyden asked him the question in open session the first place.

The bulletin said that the highest threat levels are the Middle East and North Africa, “and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arab Peninsula.”

You don´t have to be gay or even Russian to feel the wrath of the Russian government´s homophobia. You could go to jail if you are "pro-gay," whatever that means. And that´s under just one of a growing number of hate-infused bills becoming law at a time when, as it happens, Russia is preparing to host the world in the next Winter Olympics. The perverse anti-gay legislation is inflaming an atmosphere of persistent intimidation and at times deadly violence against Russian gays and lesbians. The question now is: What should the rest of the world do?

The nation´s most active death penalty state is running out of its execution drug. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Thursday that its remaining supply of phenobarbital expires in September and that no alternatives have been found. It wasn´t immediately clear whether two executions scheduled for next month would be delayed. The state has already executed 11 death-row inmates this year, and at least seven more have execution dates in coming months. "We will be unable to use our current supply of phenobarbital after it expires," agency spokesman Jason Clark said. "We are exploring all options at this time."

Some of the earliest clues scientists had that Earth´s climate has changed over time were mismatches between the fossil record and a current ecosystem. How could this palm tree have grown in Wyoming? Why have fossils of the tropical breadfruit tree been found as far north as Greenland? These cold places must have once been warm and wet. The world is not as it has always been. And somehow, despite the tumult, species adapted, moving thousands of miles to habitats where they could survive. Won´t species today just do the same as temperatures rise in the years ahead?

After purchasing the Boston Globe in 1993 for a then-record $1.1 billion, the financially troubled New York Times just announced it sold the 141 year-old paper to Boston Red Sox owner John Henry for a mere $70 million. That´s a straight 93% loss. Figuring in two decades of inflation would only make it worse -- as does the fact the Times retains the Globe´s pension liabilities, estimated at over $100 million. (snip) What might have sweetened the lower offer for the Times is that Henry offered a straight cash deal, which is expected to close sometime in September or October.
