An armed guard at a Georgia middle school disarmed a student who had opened fire, wounding one person. A student opened fire at his middle school Thursday afternoon, wounding a 14-year-old in the neck before an armed officer working at the school was able to get the gun away, police said. Multiple shots were fired in the courtyard of Price Middle School just south of downtown about 1:50 p.m. and the one boy was hit, Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said. In the aftermath, a teacher received minor cuts, he said. Headline split by staff

Comments: Credit to the sharp-eyed observers who caught on to the buried lede yesterday.
Funny how the MSM failed to speak of this too loudly - especially considering the flak Wayne LaPierre caught recently for suggesting armed guards would be effective in defending children from shooters on campus.

The MSM believes the sole purpose of their existence is to influence public opinion.
If any event does not support their view ... it´s not reported. Pure and simple.

A professional media would give this wide coverage, ask about the fairness of their previous vilification of Wayne LaPierre, and question the Democrat´s unseemly manipulation of recent events solely to advance their well-known agenda over the dead bodies of little kids.
A kneepad media will carry on as always carrying the Dems water.

So that´s how you stop a school shooting? You mean you don´t have to just sit there and let a massacre happen?

I live in Georgia, and I heard it yesterday (haven´t had any local news on today). Here is the AJC´s statement on it, but it is buried on down in the story, for what that´s worth (link below):
An armed police resource officer apprehended the shooter “within minutes” of him firing a gun several times, police said.

It says the guard was "armed." With a firearm? Or a pair of scissors?

Now this is news; this is what the NRA said would help with the school shootings, and it worked. Remember, 0bama sends his girls to a very expensive school where there are several armed guards with real guns and real bullets. Why is he so against the rest of the children getting the same protection? When 0bama came into office, he and Mooch only got ten years of secret service protection after he left office; now he has changed the law so that he and Mooch get secret service protection for the rest of their lives, and you sure can bet these guards have real guns with real bullets. It is okay for him, but he does not want any of us to have the same protection, yet we all have to pay for his for the rest of his life.

ROCHESTER — Starting April 15, New York will have the smallest gun magazine limit in the country, and all signs indicate no gun makers have plans to accommodate it. Gun manufacturers have never had a reason to make a magazine with fewer than 10 rounds, because no state required it until now. And, as far as local gun dealers and the Democrat and Chronicle have been able to determine, there are no manufacturers planning to make seven-round magazines. This means that in less than two months, gun dealers such as Paul Martin, owner of Pro-Gun Services in Victor…

CHICAGO — A federal appeals court won´t reconsider an earlier ruling that Illinois´ concealed carry ban is unconstitutional. A three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois´ ban in December and gave lawmakers until June 8 to legalize the concealed carry of firearms. Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked for all 10 judges to review the decision, saying it conflicted with decisions by other federal appellate courts and goes beyond what the U.S. Supreme Court has held. Illinois is the only state in the nation that still has a ban in place.

CLARENCE, N.Y. - In Clarence, tempers flared as gun-owners met with state officials to talk about the New York SAFE Act. (*SNIP*) And some questions had complicated answers. "You´re next question is, are you going to be arrested? I can´t answer that. It would be up to the officer you encounter. They would have to decide," said Mike Green of the Division of Criminal Justice Services. Some people got very heated with their questions, complaining that law-abiding people are getting punished. "Now you´re turning them into criminals. You´re making them angry. And when angry people get together they form militias…

The Rochester Police Department Chief James Sheppard said during a press briefing Wednesday afternoon that two male suspects entered the home at 442 Congress Avenue just after midnight Tuesday morning. A North Carolina woman, who was injured during the wild police shoot-out with a gunman at the Empire State Building in August, is suing the city — charging NYPD officers created a “dangerous and deadly confrontation,” resulting in nine wounded bystanders. Chenin Duclos, 32, was crossing 34th Street and 5th Avenue around 9 am on Aug. 24 when cops chased shooter Jeffrey Johnson through the crowded streets, the complaint states. The suit, filed today in Manhattan Supreme Court, names the city, police department and officers Craig Matthews and Robert Sinishtaj as allegedly responsible for failing to “exercise proper police tactics...

The host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” David Gregory, will not be arrested or charged with a crime for waiving what he claimed was a high-capacity ammunition gun clip on national television last month. D.C. attorney general Irvin B. Nathan announced his decision Friday afternoon by releasing a letter to an attorney for NBC. Nathan wrote that though the device Gregory held up “meets the definition” of the criminal statute, he wrote that prosecution “would not promote public safety in the District of Columbia nor serve the best interests of the people of the District to whom this office owes...

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explained to the Women in the World summit in New York today that the clock is turning back for women in America. Clinton praised her own mother for helping empower her to success and marveled at the opportunities that her own daughter Chelsea has pursued. But Clinton warned that there is still so much to do to promote women´s rights in America. "As I look at all these young women that I am privileged to work with, or know through Chelsea, and its hard to imagine turning the clock on them," Clinton said.

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

SANFORD - Trayvon Martin´s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed. Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today. In the five pages of the settlement that were available for public review, the settlement amount had been marked out. Lower in the agreement, the parties specified that they would keep that amount confidential. When asked during an earlier interview whether the amount was
