EPA increases biofuel
mandate despite court order

Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/31/2013 9:01:22 PM

Just one week after a federal court rebuked the Environmental Protection Agency for mandating biofuel standards based on “wishful thinking,” the EPA responded by raising those standards to even more unattainable levels. The EPA called for refiners and importers to mix 14 million gallons of cellulosic biofuels (ethanol) into fuel in 2013. “EPA calculates a percentage-based standard for the following year,” the agency explained in an announcement today. “Based on the standard, each refiner and importer determines the minimum volume of renewable fuel that it must ensure is used in its transportation fuel.”

Comments:
Where is anyone who can stop this outrageous, lawless behavior?? Hello congress, are you there?? It looks like this is going to be the norm from this tyrannical regime unless something is done. It´s just infuriating.

Cut their funding? That would require courage and integrity. The Republican Party lacks courage, integrity, and, worse of all, it lacks a belief. It believes in nothing other than reelection.

It´s time, it´s really time for conservatives and libertarians to abandon the Republican Party and go elsewhere.

Just say NO!

What does it matter?

Let the EPA try to sue them based on nothing, and have the refiners simply bring a harrassment lawsuit back at the EPA.

The EPA uses law fare on corporate America.
Companies must comply or face expensive lawsuits,
Alternatively, they write regs so their environmental nazi non profits can sue corporations nd make money on settlements.
The consumer pays in both cases.
Defund the ep,completely nd send the fascists home.

This is the type of agency that the 1990´s conservative republicans vowed to shut down - - if they ever controlled both the presidency and congress.

And bingo! A few years later - - they did!

Unfortunately their president was a leftist RINO named Bush - - and their congressional leaders were corrupt self-servers named Lott and DeLay.

They not only didn´t follow through on the Reagan Revolution - - they actually betrayed it. The period from 2000-2008 was the biggest blown opportunity in this nation´s history.

And now - - and now we´re governed by communists. I cry for my beloved country. Often.

Study by the American Petroleum Institute says E15 (the next mandated blend) is poison to engines. Their studies conclude that there is danger to autos and lives due to mechanical failures caused by a 15% ethanol blend. But we´ll know the science doesn´t matter, only what the king and his minions want. The people be damned.

#9 - You said it all.

We HAD our chance, and blew it. We decided to run the government like a business instead of running it out of business.

Boehner needs to realize that his job is not to compromise, but to obstruct. He is the fine line between us a tyranny, and we must resist at all costs.

Stop worrying about MSNBC and Obama´s bullying. Send one spending bill per agency to the Senate, and make sure that all of the sacred cows like first responders and Social Security are funded. Then drop the hammer.

Zero funding for the Depts of Energy, Education and the NLRB. If Obama wants to fight, go right ahead and fight...the American people are left unharmed. Phase out the Dept of Transportation, and force the merger of the FDA and Dept of Agriculture (and require a 30% reduction in staff as a net result).

Boehner needs to learn how to set a trap and follow it through. I am highly skeptical that he knows how to, but he needs to realize that no one else is coming to save us.

This probably doesn´t even have anything to do with cleaner air or any other climate crap. Ethanol production has become a mega industry in this country which is costing taxpayers billions more a year in subsidies.

At the same time the left continues to push for higher death tax rates, hitting small farmers the hardest. When faced with with the un-payable tax, they sell their farms to big ag which then flips the farm to corn production for more government handouts.

Monopolizing food production is just another left wing goal and they´re using obseity as a wedge to get their foot in the door.

Is this an attempt to get citizens to ship their current cars, lawnmowers, chain saws, etc. to the scrap yard and buy those self-suicide electric thing-a-ma-jigs?

So instead of fining the fuel companies for not using a formulation that doesn´t exist, they´re going to find the biofuel companies for not producing the formulation in the first place? What´s the scope of this obligation to produce that formulation in the first place? If we can fine a company for not producing a product, can we fine all of them? For none of them is producing that product.

The president responded with a few ideas of his own, including a request for more social events with lawmakers at the White House. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations.
