Center for American Progress’ Christie Hefner: Climate change a factor in Chicago’s murder rate

| On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” the Center for American Progress’ Christie Hefner said that Chicago’s sky-high murder rate could be blamed — at least in part — on climate change. “Yes, last year we hit a record number of murders from guns [in Chicago],” Hefner, the former chairwoman and chief executive officer of Playboy Enterprises, said. “And this year we are already outpacing last year’s numbers. Now, there are contributing factors that are not under anybody’s control and may seem odd, but it is factually true.
|
Comments: O M G The entire world has gone mad. What is even more horrifying is that they actually believe what they say. And the Center for American Progress direct 0bama´s (John Podesta who directed 0bama to use executive orders to bypass congress) every move.

Does the Center for Leftist Progress, a creator & promoter of the War on Women propaganda effort, realize the irony of having a senior employee who became very rich from exploiting women? Or, perhaps the Democrat´s symbolic "ass" has a meaning besides stupidity.

I read all the comments above. The one that is the most terrifying is the poster who points out that this woman votes.
In her case, a poll tax would not help but a requirement to pass an intelligence test before you can vote certainly would have stopped her.
There are also dumb Pubbies who vote that shouldn´t. Take the people of Arizona who chose John McCain over J.D. Hayworth. Yes, John McCain, the man who will go down in the history books as the WORST presidential candidate of any party ever.

The amount of global warming that the UN and all the other alarmists say we have experienced so far due to human activity is about 1.5 degrees F. Is this loonie actually trying to make us believe that if it were one and a half degrees colder outside, fewer people would be outside murdering each other?

And we can reduce our deficit, stabilize our debt, and do so without sacrificing the kinds of investments that are going to be required to grow. During his remarks, the president spoke of the

Religious liberty groups are mobilizing to defend the chaplain of George Washington University’s Newman Center after gay students launched an effort to have the priest fired because he preaches against homosexuality and abortion. “It’s discrimination against Catholics,” said Patrick Reilly, president of the Cardinal Newman Society. “Secular colleges are fast becoming a very unsafe place for Catholics who hold true to their faith. This is a very, very sad situation.” Two gay students at George Washington told the GW Hatchet student newspaper that they want Father Greg Shaffer removed from campus

One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. The wrong name, he warned, could doom a good bill. “If there´s not a

In a revelation that may have Colorado voters rethinking their state’s push on gun control, court documents revealed that the mass shooting in Aurora that killed 12 and injured 70 more could have been prevented by law enforcement. The psychiatrist for suspect, James Holmes, had warned campus police that Holmes was dangerous and homicidal a month before the shooting took place. She begins by noting a how a minor recent diplomatic walkback highlights the White House’s contradictory policy: It was only fitting that the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announces another traditional trip to the Middle East on the same day that the U.S. embassy in Cairo withdraws its tweet advancing the case for Egyptian Comedian Bassem Youssef as he faces intimidation from the Mursi government.

President Obama is eager to build public support for his health care overhaul in the few months remaining before its implementation, but waning enthusiasm from Democrats threatens his effort right out of the gate. Two-thirds of Democrats now believe Obama´s health care reforms will either hurt them personally or have no effect on their daily lives, a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows. In comparison, just 27 percent of Democratic respondents said the reforms would help them. The president has long struggled to convince independent and Republican-leaning voters that his health care blueprint would lower premiums and expand insurance coverage.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.” Source and text corrected by Staff.
