Marines, Army shrinking force size
under budgetary restraints

The Washington Free Beacon, by Adam Kredo

The United States Marine Corps is set to shed more than 20,000 active duty positions in the coming years and have already commenced a process meant to force some senior officers into an early retirement. The Marines are on course to cut around 4,000 positions a year through 2017, decreasing the total number of Marines to 182,100 from its peak last year of 202,100, according to a major scale-down order that was quietly issued last year

There appears to be a White House plan to weaken the military to the point that it will not be able to fulfill mission requirements.

With all of the changes to the military since obozo has been prez, gays, women in combat, political correctness against Christian military members, I am surprised that anyone is making a career anymore. Hang on, it´s going to be another rough 4 years.

I agree with the previous posts but if we can use a little common sense in these cuts they may not be all bad. All the services have suffered from bureaucratic bloat which have nothing to do with war-fighting capability and everything to do with making more departments for more flag officers. The military is overrun with General Officers and high ranking civilians who head department after department that have little to do with the mission. Get rid of all the diversity training commands, green energy commands, P.C. commands, etc. and only keep the Generals around who command troops in the field or necessary supply, logistic and training bases...keep the units and bases that enhance the ability to meet, close with and kill the enemy.

That is unbelievable. Then WHY are we sending foreign aid all over the World, even to Countries that are our enemies. Why do we have many Federal Agencies that are NOT needed and essentially detrimental to the Country. Why a lot of things, but the current Administration will never solve any of them.

Senior Airman Ret. Brian Kolfage vented his feelings to President Obama in a strongly worded letter that doesn’t mince words: Dear President Obama, My name is Brian Kolfage, I’m a triple amputee and retired Air Force veteran who was severely wounded on September 11, 2004 in Iraq. I nearly died in a war that most of your colleagues supported overwhelmingly, including the two presidents who came before you. Many citizens may not agree with waging war in Iraq to free the oppressed Iraqi citizens, but it’s something that warriors like myself have no control over. I joined to serve my country and to

As John noted below, President Obama spent an hour and a half on the telephone with Vladimir Putin discussing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. What was the conversation like? We can probably get a good sense of it by considering the account of President Bush’s conversations with Putin set forth by Peter Baker in his excellent book about the Bush presidency, Days of Fire. It’s well known that Bush and Putin got on well at first. But when the relationship soured, Bush became exasperated by his talks with the Russian bully. Putin seemed to delight in debating Bush. But according

President Barack Obama is warning Russia "there will be costs" for any military maneuvers it launches in Ukraine, a move U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they believe to be already underway. Officials say Obama may retaliate by canceling a trip to Russia this summer for an international summit and could also cut off trade discussions with Moscow. But it´s unclear whether those moves will have any impact on Russia´s calculus in Ukraine, which is at the center of what many see as a tug of war between East and West. "Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing," Obama declared Friday

President Barack Obama fired a few verbs across the front armor of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s tanks, in a rushed statement just after 5 p.m. on Friday. The statement was made as Russian forces — including attack helicopters — appeared in peripheral parts of the Ukraine that are largely populated by ethnic Russians. There’s no evidence that Obama wants to get involved in what may become a war between the Ukraine and Russia. He did not threaten any significant retaliation if Russian force attack nor did he offer military aid to the Ukraine. He announced that Vice President Joe Biden — but not

KIEV/BALACLAVA, Ukraine - Ukraine mobilized on Sunday for war and called up its reserves, after Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to invade in the biggest confrontation between Moscow and the West since the Cold War. Ukraine´s security council ordered the general staff to immediately put all armed forces on highest alert, the council´s secretary Andriy Parubiy announced. The Defense Ministry was ordered to conduct the call-up, potentially of all men up to 40 in a country that still has universal male conscription.

Legal ´standing´: Obama´s

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have

"Russia is going to lose, the Russian people are going to lose, and he´s going to lose all of the glow that came out of the Olympics, his $60 billion extravaganza." President Obama spoke for 90 minutes with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the United States, its top European partners and the U.N. Security Council spent the day trying to fashion a response to the rapid escalation of the Ukraine crisis after Russian troops took up positions throughout the autonomous republic of Crimea. Obama expressed “deep concern,” the White House said, and called on Russia to withdraw its forces back to its bases in Crimea and “to refrain from any interference elsewhere in Ukraine.” Putin appeared to have given little ground, according to a readout of the conversation from his office.
