Marco Rubio Evolved on
Immigration Reform

National Journal, by Beth Reinhard

Original Article

Posted By:jackson, 1/29/2013 8:38:45 AM

Arizona Sen. John McCain partnered with liberal Democrat Ted Kennedy in 2005 to offer illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship, then allied with border security hardliners during a tough 2010 Republican primary. "Complete the danged fence," McCain cracked in a widely publicized television spot. Less well known is the equally dramatic pivot by Marco Rubio, from 2010 candidate who dismissed McCain’s proposal as “amnesty,” to U.S. senator who on Monday championed reforms McCain said had “very little difference” from his previous plan, which became the blueprint for failed legislation

Boy Rubio evolved on illegal immigration. Bammy evolved on gay marriage. Judas evolved on that guy from Nazareth.

They´re scared of Rubio. They should be. Force the Dems to take an exteme position and turn up the heat. Obama failed on this issue after making many promises. It will be tough but own it.

Major blunder. Marco hung his star on the wrong bunch.
In the last 35 years Republicans have not received more than 40% of the hispanic vote..and the only way they ever will is to bribe them with free stuff, just like democrats do.
Better to open America to 20 million Europeans to counter the hispanics.

I´m saying quit playing defense. Obama has not delivered on this issue. Our history suggests that people who immigrate here aren´t looking for freebies but opportunity and freedom (from drug wars for example). Have a little faith.

If the only thing standing between a path to citizenship is Obama´s refusal to secure the borders because he doesn´t want Rubio to get the credit that´s a loser for the Democrats. Take it to them.

Interesting article. I wonder how many will read it its entirety. The shining hope for the Republican Party originally supported ilegals by his actions in Florida´s House. He changed colours to win the Senate seat. Now he hs changed again and is on board with McCain, Graham and Schumer.

Regardless of how you might stand on this issue, this man has no core beliefs that he is willing to constantly espouse. It is all about winning the election for himself. People (independents, conservatives, and undecideds)will see through this act and not vote for him if he runs. BUT the Republican Elite, Party Drones and MSM will shove him down everyone´s throat as being the only viable candidate who has any chance of winning.

It will be fascinating to see how many (even those on this board) will sign up for that tour again. I am betting most will and their voices will be constantly shrill and will accuse all those in opposition as being idiots and against saving America.

The Democrats want total amnesty to add 11 million democratic voters to their numbers, of course they deny this and say it´s only because they are compassionate.

OK then, the Republicans should offer to make all 11 million of them citizens immediately if they willingly accept to vote for Republicans for the next ten years.

Who cares who they vote for if your compassionate, right?

Hahahahahahahaha. How easily some of us can be fooled when a hispanic name or a black face are involved.

FTA: "He took a right turn on immigration but he’s slowly coming back to where I think he’s naturally oriented."

In other words, Rubio´s been lying to us all along about his conservatism on immigration. I´m shocked! Shocked I tell you! Hahahahaha.

A question I want someone to answer seriously: why should anyone who has been living in America illegally, in continuous violation and contempt for our laws, be put on ANY path to citizenship? I have no problem with a work permit because the entire illegals issue is directly traceable to a failure by the feds to manage a workable guest worker program, and for anyone who disagrees I have some 10 hour a day jobs picking lettuce in the hot sun with your name on them. But why should anyone who has shown such disregard for American law that they lived here in constant violation of it NOT be barred for life from American citizenship? The Lance Armstrong rule on immigration.

Vladimir Putin seems to have lost touch with reality, Angela Merkel reportedly told Barack Obama after speaking with the Russian president. Marco Rubio is smack in the middle of the current polls for the 2016 presidential primary. But he may be the early frontrunner when it comes to offering a realistic conservative agenda for reforms that address the economic challenges of modern America. And whether or not he pulls the trigger on a White House run, the U.S. senator from Florida is already helping to refashion the GOP once again into the Party of Ideas. In a series of smart domestic-policy speeches this year, Rubio has generally avoided the easy, reflexive response as to what’s gone terribly wrong with the American

What has been happening in Ukraine is not a wake-up call precisely but a tugging at the attention, a demand to focus. There´s a sense that in some new way we are watching the 21st century take its shape and express its central realities. Exactly 100 years ago, in August 1914, the facts that would shape the 20th century gathered and emerged in the Great War. History doesn´t repeat itself; you can´t, as they say, step into the same stream twice. But it does have an unseen circularity. Sept. 11 started the century and brought forward the face of terrorism. A criminal complaint filed Tuesday says the suspects beat the man who lived there with a handgun and assaulted his wife, who was six months pregnant. Both were hospitalized. 7 questions for Darrell Issa to

California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has recalled embattled former IRS exempt organizations division head Lois Lerner to testify on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Lerner’s apology for improperly scrutinizing and harassing conservative groups applying for non-profit status kicked off the IRS targeting scandal ten months ago, and Lerner has been stonewalling ever since (famously trying to invoke the Fifth Amendment the last time she testified but failing because she made a statement attesting to her innocence first). Her lawyer said she intends to “continue to assert her Fifth Amendment rights.” Since she already waived them, Issa

In a move sure to reignite the IRS scandal that rocked the agency and the Obama administration last Spring, House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa is recalling disgraced IRS official Lois Lerner to a March 5 hearing, demanding that she resume her testimony before his panel. In late May, Lerner delivered an opening statement to Issa’s committee before invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
