Exclusive: Boy Scouts
close to ending ban on
gay members, leaders

NBC News, by Pete Williams

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/28/2013 2:19:25 PM

The Boy Scouts of America, one of the nation’s largest private youth organizations, is actively considering an end to its decades-long policy of banning gay scouts or scout leaders, according to scouting officials and outsiders familiar with internal discussions. If adopted by the organization’s board of directors, it would represent a profound change on an issue that has been highly controversial -- one that even went to the US Supreme Court. The new policy, now under discussion, would eliminate the ban from the national organization’s rules, leaving local sponsoring organizations free to decide

Comments:
Wonderful! Will Nambla members now be allowed to join? Heavy s/o I weep for the innocence of our children and our country.

#3, American Heritage Girls was chartered as a result of the sell out of the Girl Scouts to feminism and the Left. I couldn´t believe this headline. I am our Troop´s Committee Chair and have been involved in the BSA since the ´50s - I hope this isn´t so.

This will be the end of the scouts, once they allow the boys to be seduced by their leaders, but a good idea according to Barry "Buttafucco´" Obama!

Put this nonsense squarely on the shoulders of the court system and the libnuts.

Did you know????

Of the 27 men to travel to the moon on the Apollo 9 through Apollo 17 missions, 24 were Scouts, including 11 of the 12 men who physically walked on the moon´s surface, and all three members of the crew of Apollo 13.

So, let´s destroy yet another successful leadership institution.

And we wonder why the country is failing?

#10, that´s because our ancestors last century didn´t hang these libtards/progtards ( ot put them up against a wall, after a fair 5 min trial, of course) when they self-identified in the government and media. When you allow rotten apples to remain in the barrel ALL the remaining good apples are at risk.

And that will be the end of the Boy Scouts. Everyone with any common sense knows that homosexuals are not born that way. They are taught it. Gay leaders? Most straight parents wouldn´t let their sons within a mile of that new Boy Scouts, because they know what it will be: just another group promoting the gay lifestyle and the gay agenda and forcing them upon their children. Their only choice with schools it to pull their kids out and either home school or send them to private schools. But scouting is purely voluntary.

No surprise here. The professed aims of the gay agenda, like so many other groups, are not really what they are pursuing anyway. Their goal is the destruction of America and Christianity via internal rot. Scouting represents both, so they go after it with a vengeance.

And to anticipate the objection to the above, I always find it interesting that those who claim homosexuality is hereditay refuse to consider the possiblity that stupidity and laziness are too.

This scouting family won´t freak out until this "NBC" scoop is verified but there may be some truth to it if they wrote the article. I would expect BSA to be out there with a strong denial statement today if this is utterly untrue.

You have heard the pedophile phrase, "After eight, it´s too late."

Also, while homosexuals are anywhere from 3-10 percent of the population, they are 30 percent of the pedophiles.

Our Troop has become very liberal in the past year. I wouldn´t be surprised if they allowed gays into the Troop even if the BSA rejects this option.
My son will son be 18 next year, and will soon have his Eagle Rank in the next month or two. We will be done with the Troop very soon.

This change by the BSA is disappointing, but not surprising. Even though they won their case in court, they can´t stand up to the court of liberal-left´s public opinion.

The problem with BSA is they allowed those who don´t agree with BSA policies/traditions to become National Board Members. These people lack a sense of personal honor. If they don´t agree with the Boy Scout Oath they never should of agreed to become Board Members. Of course the problem goes deeper. WHO recommmended these people for the Board?

I know what the rank Eagle Scout means and what an incredible accomplishment it is. This past year there were 3 or 4 "Eagle Scouts" that protested the BSA not allowing gay scout and gay scout leaders by returning their awards. I wonder if the "leadership" in BSA would listen if the other hundreds if not thousands of Eagle Scouts over the past 50 years decided to let the BSA know that they say NO!

We are literally seeing the destruction of our society, the rule of law, and the Constitution on a daily basis.

What the libs cannot get changed through the people, they are using the courts and the threat of lawsuits to overturn our socieity.

The girl scouts have succumbed, and finally the Boy Scouts are being taken down--

This is too strong for sarcasm....

Please explain to me whey that is not allowed. Perhaps Mitt Romney and anyone else caving into the Gay Agenda can explain that one to me.

Due to a lack of proof beyond any reasonable doubt I make no judgements one way or the other. I prefer FACTS before running my mouth.

Does anyone have Documented Medical Proof that people (male or female) are or are not born Homosexuals?

I have seen one medical article saying they are not born that way and two medical articles that say they are in fact born that way.

So are we dealing in TRUTH and FACT or just hate mongering ignorance? If we can demand the truth and facts from the Administration and the Media, then why can´t we demand the truth and facts in this forum?

Just curious.

Way to go, BSA, to let individual units be barraged and bamboozled and harrassed to let homosexual scout leaders in. Way to lead, guys. If the parent organization can´t withstand the pressure, how do you expect local units to withstand the pressure. How demoralizing.

When this happens, we will dis-associate with the BSA. What a terrible shame.

When will we learn that liberalism is a cancer that destroys any and everything it touches. It rots everything from the inside out. And it is content to destroy the BSA if it cannot take it over. Liberalism cares nothing for any "good" that might come from it. If it cannot be conquered then it must be destroyed.

The Democrat Party is Satan´s church and modern liberalism is its religious doctrine. Until we accept that we cannot engage in the war. It´s why they hate Christianity so much. Liberals declared war against decency and the country a long time ago.

Well, #39, to each his own, but it is a moral issue given the Boy Scouts is a moral based organization. Homosexuality is not moral and it does present a possible danger to children. I don´t think it is ignorant or hateful to be prudent. It also seems prudent rather than hateful to exercise the utmost caution since it is an unsettled matter. I find it a reverse order to say take the risk until proven otherwise.

I think the LDS church is one of their biggest sponsors but this may change things. To be a scout leader in an LDS troop it may be a higher standard.

This is very sad if true. Two of my sons are Eagle Scouts and my youngest is very close. #48 It is true that the LDS church is one of the biggest sponsors of the BSA. We use it for the boys in our youth program. I have heard it said that if the BSA ever gave into the gays demands that the Church will drop it and come up with something else instead. It would all be downhill from there for the BSA.

It´s bad enough when notable Americans make a statement, then a few days later they apologize.

Working in an architectural firm who did design and research for a popular gay bathhouse, I realized that I was charmingly naïve about what, I was repeatedly assured, was mainstream homosexual living.
If scout leaders are in a position to influence young minds then we need to educate ourselves about how different interpretations of overt sexuality, monogamy and promiscuity within alternative lifestyle communities mesh with established value systems.
I recognize the right of private, tax-exempt organizations to limit voluntary membership to a prescribed set of requirements. Arguing this point can be a two-way street, as anyone can subjectively claim discrimination in private groups i.e. a not-for-profit Florida gay softball league seeking to ban “bi” or “fake” homosexual “ringers” from competition.
Ultimately, if we force coherence to shifting social morays on any organized group, are we infringing on their right to assemble? One could so fundamentally change the dynamic of a private society as to render it meaningless (what constitutes a “boy” for example).

Fortunately parents don´t have to allow their sons to participate in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. No person in their right mind would allow their son so go on an overnight scout trip with a homosexual man. Sorry if you are offended. You wouldn´t allow your daughter to go on an overnight scout trip with a man.

Sadly, this is the end of Boy Scouts.

This truly saddens me. . .and it´s the just beginning. . .homosexuality has become a tenet of the Left´s religion and it is literally being forced upon the entire country.

Our young boys are literally being recruited into a culture of despair and death. Most of the homosexual men I know, while they are "nice" to me, it is evident that they are unhappy and miserable. They also take pettiness, vanity and catty-ness to a level that no woman could possibly take it to.

They haven´t won, dont allow these leftist freaks to win by rolling over, while we still parent our kids we are in control. we must keep these undesirables away from our kids, grand kids start by, leveling accusations & threaten to send the local news on their reputations and make their lives pure hell so they go start a gay scouts cult which they should´ve done if their motives were pure.

Eich was ousted after liberal groups found out that in 2008 he made a $1000 donation to support Proposition 8 in California. As Janis spoke about the six-year-old donation, video footage of Westboro Baptist protesters with "God hates f***" and "soldiers die 4 *** marriage" signs appeared on-screen. [See video below. From the Philadelphia Inquirer: One teacher calls it the "new normal" for southwest Philadelphia´s Bartram High School: a massive brawl in the cafeteria, where students punched and stomped each other, and even attacked school police; firecrackers set off in the building; and the student who fractured the skull of a "conflict resolution specialist" is once again roaming the halls, just two weeks after the attack. Insiders told the newspaper, the larger problem at the 1,100-student school "is the continued culture of chaos and disregard for authority." According to the newspaper, four additional Philadelphia and school police officers will be at the school

Earlier this week on Boston’s WRKO-AM’s The Howie Carr Show, conservative commentator Ann Coulter shocked some conservatives when she said she is making 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney her favorite for the 2016 Republican contest. Last month in an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, Romney himself ruled out the possibility of a 2016 run and said he was instead focused on who to get behind in that contest. Coulter, however, wishes otherwise. “Well, don´t tell him but I´m planning on giving Mitt Romney a little more time to rest -- flying out, kidnapping him and depriving him of sleep, food and

The number of major federal regulations issued in the first five years of the Obama administration was 153.2% higher than during the first five years of the Bush administration, according to data from the Heritage Foundation. “In the first five years of President Obama’s Administration, 157 major federal regulations were issued. By comparison, only 62 major federal regulations were issued during the first five years of the George W. Bush Administration,” according to Heritage’s report, Red Tape Rising: Five Years of Regulatory Expansion. How do you get from 5 million Obamacare enrollees to 7.1 million Obamacare enrollees in two weeks? You start the applications yourself. Health and Human Services was mailing out letters notifying certain Americans that they had already started a healthcare coverage application on their behalf. HHS had started the applications for them. The Shark Tank reported: News of the HHS letter was first mentioned by a listener of the popular “Daybreak with Drew Steele” Show on Fox 92.5, which is out of Fort Myers, Florida. After his radio show concluded, another listener emailed Steele telling him about receiving the same

Finally, someone has come up with a way to settle the debate over climate change: Put the people on the wrong side of the argument in cages. A writer for the website Gawker recently penned a self-described “rant” on the pressing need to arrest, charge, and imprison people who “deny” global warming. In fairness, Adam Weinstein doesn’t want mass arrests. (Besides, in a country where only 44 percent of Americans say there is “solid evidence” of global warming and it’s mostly due to human activity, you can’t round up every dissenter.) More than a dozen Republican lawmakers are pushing the Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider asserting regulatory authority over streams and wetlands amid intense backlash from farm groups over the agency´s proposed water rule. In a letter Thursday, the GOP senators faulted the EPA for announcing a proposed rule last week before the government´s peer-reviewed scientific assessment was fully complete. They are calling on the government to withdraw the rule or give the public six months to review it, rather than the three months being provided. The senators´ move puts them among several groups -- from farmers and land developers to

U.S. employers added jobs at a solid pace in March in the latest sign that the economy is rebounding from a weak stretch brought on by a harsh winter. The Labor Department says employers added 192,000 jobs, slightly below February´s total of 197,000. Employers also added a combined 37,000 more jobs in February and January than previously estimated. The unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.7 percent. But a half-million Americans started looking for work last month, and most of them found jobs. The increase in job-seekers is a sign that they are more optimistic about their prospects. March´s job gain

In his opening statement during highly anticipated testimony Wednesday on Benghazi, former CIA deputy director Michael Morell claimed to be an intelligence professional who was willing to lay out the facts -- no matter how damaging. "I take very seriously the allegations about how the CIA in general and about how I in particular handled the analysis and the talking points," Morell told the House Intelligence Committee, in his first public testimony on the Benghazi attacks. "The ethical code under which intelligence officers carry out their responsibilities calls for total objectivity." But Morell´s own testimony would appear to undercut that

Immigration reform advocates are fond of citing broad support for their cause. But in fact the coalition behind the Senate Gang of Eight comprehensive reform bill is fragile and loosely cobbled together. How could Big Labor and the Chamber of Commerce and the tech world and Big Agriculture all unite behind one bill? Very tentatively. It wouldn´t take much to break the coalition apart. And if that happens, the effort to enact comprehensive immigration reform could blow up, not just for the moment, but for some time to come. And there are signs that is exactly what is occurring now. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush said Sunday that many who illegally come to the United States do so out of an "act of love" for their families and should be treated differently than people who illegally cross U.S. borders or overstay visas. The comments came during an event marking the 25th anniversary of the presidency of George H. W. Bush at the library and museum that bears the name of the Bush patriarch.

Why does Hillary Clinton hate America? That is the question that should be on everyone’s mind as she embarks on a worldwide tour to plug her forthcoming memoir. In Dearborn, Mich., home to over 40,000 Americans of Arab descent, some Muslim parents have complained about flyers handed out at public schools advertising an Easter egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church. The Muslim parents assert that the flyers – emblazoned with the word “Eggstravaganza!” – violate the separation of church and state widely ascribed to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, reports the Detroit Free Press. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. The “Eggstravaganza!” is scheduled to take place on April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church

Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. The nearly forgotten disease, which has in recent years afflicted thousands of Americans, left Brady´s tiny body swollen and unrecognizable. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has sworn off running again for elected office, but Americans have certainly heard that one before. Speculation that Romney might run again has largely been stoked by the reunion he planned to host last month in Park City, Utah, for members of his 2012 campaign and debate team and a string of recent public appearances. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers, who led all national politicians last year with 26 appearances over 12 months. Romney has

WASHINGTON- Seven million people signed up, so there is an appetite for President Barack Obama´s health care law, but that doesn´t guarantee success for the country´s newest social program. Big challenges are lurking for the next enrollment season, which starts Nov. 15. Chief among them are keeping premiums and other consumer costs in check, and overhauling an enrollment process that was advertised as customer-friendly but turned out to be an ordeal. "They have demonstrated the law can work, but we are a ways off from being able to judge its success," said Larry Levitt, an expert on health insurance markets

The president gave two speeches this week, one in the Rose Garden to talk about Obamacare and one in Ann Arbor, Mich., to push minimum wage increases. What did we learn? We learned that President Obama is most comfortable in campaign mode, and his campaigning has gotten downright ugly. His Rose Garden speech was a typical self-congratulatory moment for supposedly hitting 7.1 million Obamacare sign-ups — although we know that once again, the White House is ignoring some inconvenient truths. We also learned that the president was vain enough to asked the networks to cover his speech in prime time, but

The freshman said she was leaving the restroom and going to her social studies class when a female officer stopped her and requested her student ID, according to a statement released by the Transgender Law Center.
