The Liberal Moment: On two tracks,
a president and a governor

Post-Standard [Syracuse, NY], by Editorial

As one side sees it, President Barack Obama’s first four-year term of President Barack Obama was a disaster, and the second promises the same. Last time around, they argue, the president muscled through costly and ineffective health care reform. His vast economic stimulus program aggravated the deficit without adding “real,” private-sector jobs. Ballooning debt will plague the nation for years. And Obama’s solution to everything it: tax and spend. (Snip) The only place Obama wants to “economize” is defense. Well, that’s one view. In the anti-Obama echo chamber, the president barely

This is about Gov. Andrew Cuomo on one side of the Hudson river trying to out-liberal 0bama in preparation for a possible 2016 run. Can´t wait to see the editorial on the other side for Gov. Chris. Christie and what he wants to do on the Jersey side to be noticed. Who knows. A future PIAPS VP pick?

The funny tihng about this is liberals no longer feel they need too stay in the closet,at least somewhat to win a national election. Maybe they know there´s already enough votes to win on,just like Obama knew all along.

In fact besides not hiding their liberalism, the more liberal the better. They haven´t learned from history that politics runs in cycles and there could be a backlash against them.

You never know what kind of backdoor deals Obama made with the Clintons for their eventual support in 2008 and 2012.If the Obama machine blesses Hillary, the rest will be wasting their time running. But watching them try to out liberal themselves would be entertaining.

Beijing - A Chinese dog breeder said Thursday that a property developer paid him 18 million yuan ($3 million) for Tibetan mastiff twins, highlighting how the breed has become a status symbol for China´s rich. The large, slobbery dog with massive amounts of hair used to be best known for herding sheep in Tibet, but has now become a luxury for the ultra-rich who want to spread their wealth beyond stocks and real estate. Breeder Zhang Gengyun said he sold the 1-year-old twin male dogs to a single buyer at a luxury dog fair Tuesday in wealthy Zhejiang province, located on China's east coast.

I’m now bleary-eyed from watching the nonstop television about Flight 370 — tough job, someone’s gotta do it — and my view of the coverage continues to sink. Since I’ve spoken out and written about reckless speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding the plane’s disappearance, other critics are defending the media’s performance. (Snip) My problem is the endless hours of cable coverage — with Fox and MSNBC heavily invested as well — creates a void that must be filled. Search crews are scouring the southern Indian Ocean today after two objects that may be related to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight were spotted by satellite, officials said Thursday. (Snip) Crew members told ABC News that they received radar hits of "significant size," indicating something lurking below the water's surface -- but Commander William Marks, spokesman for the US Navy's 7th Fleet, later said the radar return was typical, and not connected to the missing plane. Australia's government released satellite images of the possible objects today, described as the best lead at this stage in the investigation.

Four days went by before officials acted on satellite data showing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 flew for several hours away from the area being covered by a massive international search, people familiar with the matter said—a delay from which investigators are still working to recover. The satellite´s operator, Britain´s Inmarsat PLC, on March 11 turned over to a partner company its data analysis and other documents indicating that the plane wasn´t anywhere near the areas on either side of Malaysia where more countries and ships had been searching for three days since the plane disappeared. New York Times blogger and Nobel laureate economist Paul Krugman believes that the right way to debate economic policy is to attack your opponent at his weakest point, rather than to engage your opponent´s strongest arguments. If we were to give Krugman the Krugman treatment, it’s not hard to see where we would attack Krugman: his attempts to write about conservatives. First Krugman admits he doesn´t read conservatives: “Some have asked if there aren´t conservative sites I read regularly. Well, no.” Fine. “Life is short,” Krugman writes. Then you would think life is too short to attack conservatives. But that seems to be Krugman’s

The National Security Agency has built a surveillance system capable of recording “100 percent” of a foreign country’s telephone calls, enabling the agency to rewind and review conversations as long as a month after they take place, according to people with direct knowledge of the effort and documents supplied by former contractor Edward Snowden. A senior manager for the program compares it to a time machine — one that can replay the voices from any call without requiring that a person be identified in advance for surveillance. His aura of grief reflects his profound loss. His worldview crashed headlong into reality, and reality won. Obamaism is dead, may it rest in peace. Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but
