White House/OFA gun-control
project off to inauspicious start

Hot Air, by Ed Morrissey

This week, the Entity Formerly Known As The Obama Campaign transformed itself into a lobbying/grassroots activist group, intending on leveraging its microtargeting and marketing success into generating a groundswell of support for Obama’s political agenda. Their first project — frighten legislators into backing Obama’s gun-control proposals by touching off a deluge of phone calls and communications to Capitol Hill offices. So far, though, the genius of the campaign seems to be somewhat lacking, according to Buzzfeed’s John Stanton (via Instapundit): Call in campaigns can be a powerful tool in lobbying Congress:

Comments:
Maybe the people on Obama´s campaign list are tired of wearing the puppet strings.

People in congress knows when there´s an astroturf movement going on when they all of a sudden get flooded with phone calls.

Obama and Holder are persecuting average citizens on the assumption of crime, when no real crime has been committed. Most of the crime in this country are committed by liberal base members,so Holder really doesn´t have much to do with himself.

The reason Obama still has to use his campaign machine is nobody accepts his policies at face value, other than people who live off the government in one form or another.Half this country doesn´t even exist to Obama.

Jim Messina claims that there are 20 million Obama for Action to Change America into a communist state followers. However, how loyal can they be since they have been so cheaply purchased? I saw the bowl of snacks that were the extent of the reward for obamaites who traveled to "Boomtown" for the inaugural ball held for peons only. The picture of the bowl of peanuts and crackers for the "little people" says it all. Truly pathetic.

Sydney Leathers was a girlfriend for hire and any old creep with a thousand bucks to spare could have had the pleasure of her companionship, such as it was. The news that Anthony Weiner’s former sexting partner sold her services via so-called “sugar daddy” Internet sites was not exactly shocking to anyone who has paid attention to the mores and manners of American youth in the past couple of decades. Popular culture has been so corrupt for so long that many young people are incapable of making any distinction between vice and virtue, categories that sophisticated people are expected to reject

Edwin Alemany is a career criminal and he had an EBT card. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. The Mass. Republican Party got it right in a tweet yesterday. Not everyone with an EBT card is a criminal, but it appears that every criminal has an EBT card. Of course Gov. Deval Patrick would dismiss this as just another “anecdote.” Please don’t ask why the state is supporting a guy who has 10 convictions at age 28, not to mention 52 citations on his CORI record. His welfare records are sealed, you understand. Alemany has his rights,

Chris Christie and Rand Paul are in the midst of a food fight. Not literally, but very much figuratively. Their debate has devolved from one about warrantless federal surveillance programs to the question of which state, New Jersey or Kentucky, receives more “pork.” You can read some of the lowlights here. For the record, I’m with Christie on the original issue — warrantless federal surveillance programs — and agnostic on the question of who is the bigger porker. Both Christie and Paul probably would like to be president. Indeed, their food fight appears to represent the preliminary round

Two months ago, President Obama declared again, that the War on Terror is over. As if the side under attack can simply decide that the hostilities are ended just because they are tired of defending themselves. Anthony Weiner had a good life: a congressman who was a possible heir to the Chuck Schumer throne and married to the adoptive daughter of the Clintons. He had a personal net worth of nearly a million dollars, millions more in campaign donations, and a future written in political fantasies. So why wasn’t this enough? Everyone knows an Anthony Weiner. The nation´s leading climate change advocate, former Vice President Al Gore, is creating a mini army of "climate leaders" to push governments and companies around the world to adopt policies aimed at reducing global warming. On Wednesday in Chicago Gore will host his second "climate reality leadership corps training" this year where his Climate Reality Project will show supporters how to talk about the issue and push for solutions to carbon burning. Just last month, he held a similar event in Istanbul where one attendee said she was "moved to tears" when Gore spoke about global warming.

The news that NBC is planning to film a miniseries on the life of Hillary Clinton may be interpreted in some quarters as just another lollipop being thrown by the network at its Democratic crush. The movie will star actress Diane Lane as the former first lady, senator, and secretary of state and will cover her life from the 1998 Monica Lewinsky scandal up until the present day. Though we are told the work would include “aspects that were both critical of Mrs. Clinton and supportive of her,” it’s not likely the network with a cable news outlet

Late last week, San Diego Bob Filner let everyone know that he was headed to therapy after seven women accused him of sexual harassment, hoping that a two-week stint getting help would let him keep his office. And now, it looks like the mayor wants the city of San Diego to pitch in, too, by paying his legal fees in a sexual harassment lawsuit. That lawsuit was filed by attorney Gloria Allred on behalf of Filner´s former press secretary, Irene McCormack Jackson. The request for the city to pay for Filner´s defense, filed by attorney Harvey Berger, will go

There has been a fair amount of discussion in recent days about whether Republicans should try to defund Obamacare. The instinct to do something about Obamacare is right. But Republicans can learn something from the American people. As polls have consistently shown, Americans like the idea of delaying—and of repealing—Obamacare. But they don’t like the sound of defunding it. In terms of policy, either approach would produce essentially the same result. (Whether the Obamacare exchanges are delayed for a year, or its exchange subsidies are defunded for a year, the result would be no taxpayer-funded Obamacare exchanges next year.)

Abbas said that no Israeli settlers or border forces could remain in a future Palestinian state and that Palestinians deem illegal all Jewish settlement building within the land occupied in the 1967 Six Days War. President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that

Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.

Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.

The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,

Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
