Judge rules EPA can’t mandate
use of nonexistent biofuels

Daily Caller, by Michael Bastasch

A federal court delivered a serious blow to the Environmental Protection Agency’s renewable fuel agenda, ruling that the agency exceeded its authority by mandating refiners use cellulosic biofuels, which isn’t commercially available. The court sided with the country’s chief oil and gas lobby, the American Petroleum Institute, in striking down the 2012 EPA mandate that would have forced refineries to purchase more than $8 million in credits for 8.65 million of gallons of the cellulosic biofuel. However, none of the biofuel is commercially available. “[W]e agree with API that EPA’s 2012 projection

A government agency has mandated that refiners use a certain biofuel that isn´t available. That kind of action explains a lot why we are going down the toilet bowl.

"However, the decision did not strike down EPA mandates for refiners to use other renewable fuels, like ethanol and biodiesel, into gasoline."

Court ruling was a partial victory for consumers. However, the EPA madness that we burn corn in cars is still in place. Risk now is that EPA increases its 10% ethanol requirement to 15% to 20% to buy votes in Iowa and other corn growing states. Ethanol reduces automobile gas mileage while raising costs of gasoline, a double hammer on consumers.

I am still waiting patiently for someone to explain something. For all of our brave talk of freedom, how did things come to this? How is it that unelected, unelected bureaucrats have the power to issue diktats with the force of law, regulations that are idiotic yet affect millions of us? I can understand LAWS, voted on by the bicameral national legislature and agreed to by the chief executive. But this path of rule by decree of apparatchiks has not only got to stop, it must be utterly invalidated. I will never again support any candidate who is the leas comfortable with legislation that cedes implementation authority to some government bureau.
With respect to this particular idiocy, what are the names of all the imbeciles involved? What day were they fired? If not, why not?

Yet another new survey shows that Republican supporters know more about politics and political history than Democrats. On eight of 13 questions about politics, Republicans outscored Democrats by an average of 18 percentage points, according to a new Pew survey titled “Partisan Differences in Knowledge.” The Pew survey adds to a wave of surveys and studies showing that GOP-sympathizers are better informed, more intellectually consistent, more open-minded, more empathetic and more receptive to criticism than their fellow Americans who support the Democratic Party. “Republicans fare substantially better than Democrats on several questions in the survey,

James Holmes, the gunman behind the Dark Knight massacre in Colorado last July, has reportedly turned Muslim and prays five times a day. The killer showed off a lengthy, thick beard during a court appearance earlier this month, and a prison source has claimed it is a symbol of his new-found faith. The report, however, released on Tuesday by the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, said researchers would have to overcome numerous hurdles before launching an anthrax-vaccine trial in children. It now goes to Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, who will decide whether to

New Pope Francis I is a conservative in the mold of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II. That’s especially true on the issue of abortion, which he called a “death sentence” for the unborn in 2007. “We aren’t in agreement with the death penalty,” he said during that speech, “but in Argentina we have the death penalty. A child conceived by the rape of a mentally ill or retarded woman can be condemned to death.” In his writings, Francis wrote, “we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence,’ that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion

Democrats were overjoyed when George W. Bush left office in January of 2009. Obama had promised to end Bush´s hawkish foreign policy and the "war on terror´s" detention and interrogation regime. But in the beginning of his fifth year as president, Obama´s record has been surprisingly similar to his predecessor´s in those areas. 1. Democrats fought George W. Bush’s troop surge in Iraq in 2006. Obama copied it in Afghanistan in 2009. You would think Democrats would react the same way they did to Bush´s surge policy. But they were really more like

Of all the diabolically clever moves the anti-choice lobby has ever pulled, surely one of the greatest has been its consistent co-opting of the word “life.” Life! Who wants to argue with that? Who wants be on the side of … not-life? That’s why the language of those who support abortion has for so long been carefully couched in other terms. While opponents of abortion eagerly describe themselves as “pro-life,” the rest of us have had to scramble around with not nearly as big-ticket words like “choice” and “reproductive freedom.” The “life”

Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth.
