´Boomtown´ Special Assails D.C.
for ´Extracting´ Wealth from Taxpayers

Breitbart's Big Government, by Tony Lee

Original Article

Posted By:mikkins2, 1/26/2013 11:41:26 AM

In a blockbuster one-hour investigative special that aired on Fox News´ "Hannity" on Friday, Peter Schweizer, Steve Bannon, and Sean Hannity exposed how Washington, D.C. has extracted power and money from the United States into a centralized location to become the country´s greatest "boomtown," despite not creating anything. Schweizer, the president of the nonpartisan Government Accountability Institute, highlighted how the permanent political class that relies on lobbying and influence peddling makes more money by "growing the size of government," which leaves no incentive on either side of

Comments:
This goes a long way into exposing why the Republican Establishment never seems to be able to win the fight for less spending and less government.

Its simply because they don´t want to.

The article also explains why some at Lucianne.com attack anyone who empathizes with those willing to speak the truth and bring change to Washington D.C.

This is the reason, IMO, Sarah was trashed so vigorously - she demonstrated in Alaska that she wouldn´t put up with corruption from either side of the aisle. The only constituency that mattered to her was "we the people" and the constitution. How quaint. /s

Eyeopener special. It´s worse than you feared in D.C... The government as ever more voracious parasites on the productive in America. Something´s got to give, the sooner the better. Shows like this special help.

And Steve Bannon´s a good man. For those who don´t know, it´s his Citizens United that brought and won the SCOTUS suit last year that successfully rolled back some of the First Amendment problems of McCain-Feingold.

It was pointed out that the fiscal cliff was never going to occur and never will. Simply too much money flowing into the coffers from defense lobbyists (among others) to sit back and do nothing. Lots of "professional wrestling" style debate about it, great fodder for the media, but nothing more. Congress in action is a pathetic joke. Someone stands in front of the floor, making his case, while maybe 5 or 6 in the chamber (among the 20-30 who are even present) are listening. The rest have already met with the cognizant lobbying group in the back room and decided their vote. And unless C-SPAN is catching whatever is being said by the member speaking and the alphabet networks opt to put it on the air that evening, the argument is a waste of time and breath.

The Founders would be apalled at the beltway´s lefty/lib/statist´s reversal in governance to the checks & balances which they provided in the U.S. Constitution! Their tried & true principles in support of Liberty have kept our ship of state historically on course through good times & bad times, ...at least until the unsustainable, radical lefties´ policies intruded throughout the past 40 years.

OP, #´s 1 and 2 right on! I watched most of this. Compare the detail these fellows went into and compare it with the hopeless, behind kissing news coverage we now get in America. Breaux and Lott´s smiling faces on the webste of their lobbyist firm tells you all you need to know. Capitol Hill is corrupt from top to bottom.

I watched this last night. I thought I´d seen everything when it came to government excess, but this was stunningly hedonistic to the point of insanity.

People handing out cash for half million dollar cars? Wine that cost more than my house flowing like water in restaurants that take days to get into?
No middle class.
Panhandlers down the street from government buildings filled with people who make six figures researching how to help panhandlers.
D.C. is the rabbit hole.
The extreme nepotism...it´s an entrenched aristocracy. No wonder there is no change.

I hope those pigs with their snouts in the trough enjoy their moment because a reckoning of this size will be painful.
Yes. Make this mandatory viewing everywhere.

I also watched last night. Above poster mentioned nepotism which you rarely hear anything about. Just think of Chelsea Clinton´s work career. Not necessarily in politics, but she´s coming. Maybe with her face, she´ll end up as a lobbyist like the others - wives, kids, daughter in laws. Do you remember Trent Lott retiring early so he could get in under the wire to be a lobbyist?

If I were king I´d place the House in Kansas City or Oklahoma City and the Senate in San Francisco, leaving only the executive and its bureaucracy in D.C. That would help to break up the game.

Not to worry, however.

The show provided more than ample evidence of the fact that the government that governs the biggest governs the worst. What goes on in D.C. is an insult to the American people. Makes you feel like a patsy to work hard, live morally and pay your taxes. That must stop.

Is there anyone remaining with an IQ above room temperature who actually believes that the Republican Party believes in limited government, as defined by the U.S. constitution? If so, they have either been hibernating or have been in complete self-denial. Every election cycle the Republican Party counts on its “conservative base” to dutifully turn out and mark their ballot for whatever candidate has been selected by the GOP leadership. We are told ad infinitum that doing so will keep the Democrat liberal demons from furthering their agenda. The inside-the-beltway establishment has been chanting this mantra for years

Former George W. Bush chief political strategist Matt Dowd continued to try to diminish Sarah Palin and conservatives by once again making false claims about the former Alaska governor. On Sunday´s "ABC´s This Week," Dowd assailed CPAC for, in his mind, lessening its credibility by inviting conservatives like Palin and not liberal Republicans favored by the northeastern elite like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. “CPAC, to me, has totally diminished its credibility as an organization,” Dowd said

People continually complain that with the different faces who have disgraced the Offices of the President and Vice President, the one hundred (100) seats within the Senate and the four hundred thirty-five (435) seats within the House of Representatives, nothing improves for the masses, only for those who are elected and special interests. This is frustrating and we need to assess why, so we can change this ‘continuing resolution’. It appears that the GOP and the Democrat Party have merged.

For the past several years, congressional Republicans have focused relentlessly on a single message: Washington — led by President Obama — is spending too much money, and it needs to stop. But according to new Washington Post-ABC News polling, that laser-like focus isn’t helping Republicans win the argument over federal spending — with 67 percent of those tested disapproving of the “way Republicans in Congress are handling federal spending.”

Demographics are destiny. Nothing else makes history. When the changes ahead are shipped into denial is when chaos and disaster ensue. And the potential disasters America faces today do not come from global warming, nuclear weapons, the Russians, the hippies or the rednecks. They come from the economic division of America between the red states, which are rising in capital and prosperity, and the left and right coasts, which are receding in economic power. Demographer Joel Kotkin well outlines the transition in a Wall Street Journal essay yesterday title, “America’s Red State Growth Corridors.”

Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) has been front and center during the latter days of the sequestration showdown, which is good, because he literally wrote the book on government waste. He produces a new edition of his “Wastebook” every year, chronicling the most absurd abuses of taxpayer money. It is wise for Republicans to bring up these horror stories when Obama is racing around the country and insisting that a 2.3 percent reduction in the rate of government growth means we can’t have firefighters or border security. Coburn’s Wastebook should be every American’s indispensable manual

At 11:42 a.m. on Feb. 14, a conservative online magazine called The Washington Free Beacon posted a dispatch about a speech Chuck Hagel gave in 2007 in which it said he called the State Department “an adjunct to the Israeli foreign minister’s office.” The report was based on “contemporaneous” notes an attendee posted online. An hour later on the floor of the United States Senate, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina urgently cited that statement as another reason to delay Mr. Hagel’s nomination as defense secretary.

I’m told we’re living in a Moderate Moment. After Mitt Romney lost the election, moderate Republicans started emerging from every corner of the country, from Northwest Washington, D.C. to Arlington, Virginia. It was time, they declared, for calm voices to prevail in the Republican Party. The Tea Party, the right-wing, the “Conservative Entertainment Complex” — all this must be cast overboard for the GOP to win again. The latest iteration of this came in Wednesday’s Washington Post from columnist Kathleen Parker:

Earlier today we posited that Congressional Republicans held a losing political hand when it came to a showdown over the $1.2 trillion in automatic spending cuts — aka the sequester — set to automatically kick in on March 1. We got a fair number of responses from Republicans who argued with the premise –insisting that under our logic the GOP should simply capitulate to Obama on all matters due to the fact that the president is the more popular figure with the public at the moment. I am writing this newsletter in a very direct, no baloney, effort to get across how much trouble we Republicans are in and how real the internal party fight is going to be. I strongly support RNC Chairman Reince Priebus’ effort to think through the lessons of 2012 and develop a better path for the Republican Party. However there are going to be some very powerful opponents to any serious rethinking of Republican doctrines and strategies. It is appalling how little some Republican consultants have learned from the 2012 defeat. It is even more disturbing how arrogant their plans for the future are.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
