Rahm Emanuel presses banks on guns
Politico, by Jonathan Martin

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, moving to take a lead role in the gun control debate, is turning up the pressure on banks that do business with firearms manufacturers. Emanuel is sending letters to two major financial institutions, TD Bank and Bank of America, which offer lines of credit to gun makers suggesting that they stop lending money to the manufacturers if they don’t come out for new gun restrictions. “TD Bank currently aids the gun manufacturing industry through a $60 million revolving line of credit with Smith & Wesson, a gun manufacturer that produces the AR-15 —

I´ve been saying for quite a while now that Obama can use the banks to force people into complying with everything he wants. The government really has their hooks in BoA,who they could bankrupt at the drop of a hat with creative lawsuits claiming this and that on home mortgages.

These gun companies could probably operate on cash only if they had to but there´s lots of businesses that have lines of credit to make sure they can pay their bills or meet payroll.

People see evidence here and there that Obama and his henchmen are pure thugs but they don´t grasp the depth these people will go to,to get their way.

When Obama lost big in 2010,his first words is there´s more than one way to skin a cat. He was talking about climate change crap at the time and we´ve seen what the EPA is doing to ruin people´s lives. The thugocracy simply has too many avenues to abuse power.

Banks would be stupid to voluntarily stop doing business with one of the most successful industries in the country. If it happens, that will be proof enough that there was strong and illegal government coercion. And if it does happen, every dollar that I have that is connected to BOA will be removed from their hands.

I agree on the mortgage gimmicks that started this economic disaster. If banks had not caved in to the government accusations of "red lining" to cheat minorities out of homes that they were entitled to, we would be sailing smoothly today, under a competent president.

What the liberal Democrats really want to do is destroy the US small arms and related industries that they consider to be conservative oriented enterprises. If they are successful in doing that, they will also destroy tens of thousands of well paying American jobs in those industries along with all the technical know how that goes along with those jobs.

To do that the liberal Democrats want to ban just about all modern semi-automatic handguns and rifles that are produced and sold in the USA today, knowing that those industries cannot survive by bidding on a diminishing number of military contracts.

The liberal Democrats who want to ban those firearms are almost completely silent as to the culpability of the dangerous mentally ill who perpetrate the mass shootings to gain media attention for themselves as they set out on their personal suicide missions.

The liberal Democrats are also silent about the culpability of the movie, TV, and video game industries that are trafficking in very violent entertainment content, from which they earn billions, that give young unstable mentally ill people who grow up in peaceful places such as rural Connecticut communities ideas of extreme violence that leads to cases of criminally insane conduct.

Remember the mentally ill can vote, so the liberal Democrats call them victims who they intend to help, and the mental health industry along with the movie, TV, and video game industries are all known to be big liberal Democrat supporters.

For conservatives, the story of the Obama years has been the depressing spectacle of Republicans fighting a rearguard action covering their retreat from a Democratic agenda backed by superior numbers. Republicans began the Obama administration with effectively no leverage: Barack Obama in the White House, Nancy Pelosi in the speaker’s chair, and Harry Reid running the Senate. The outcome of that was the enactment of the Affordable Care Act, the worst domestic defeat for the cause of limited government in a generation. The 2010 congressional elections gave Republicans some relief in the form of a House majority empowered to contain

Democrats are going into the 2014 midterm elections with their control of the Senate greatly imperiled and with the prospect of an Obama presidency completely hobbled in its final two years. In response, the president and his party are struggling to come up with a broad economic message that can rebut, or at least deflect, the continued GOP assaults on the president and his new health-care law. Thus far, what they have produced is a smaller, more targeted approach — one that seeks to gin up the enthusiasm that has been lacking in key parts of their base, but that

Obamacare supporters are taking a bit of a victory lap today after yesterday’s administration announcement that six million people have signed up for private plans under the law, equaling the revised projection put out by the Congressional Budget Office after the botched launch of the exchanges last October. It’s a weak cause for celebration, given that success, according to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, was originally "at least" seven million people getting covered under the law by the end of March. And as an Obamacare factoid, the six million sign-ups figure just doesn’t tell us all that much

This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas.
