This makes it absolutely clear that guns don´ kill people... VIOLENT MOVIES kill people !

Any time now, we should see a parade of democrat politicians and liberal hollywood celebrities (excuse the redundancy) coming out against violent movies... just wait for it... wait for it...

I´ve never watched the ´Halloween´ genre of movies. Seen a few scenes, though. Too disturbing, too graphic. They take your mind to the dark places that should be avoided.

Yet the NRA will be blamed while Hollywood gets to skate. Again.

Friday The 13th Pt 2 had the ever so stunning Amy Steel in it. That made the whole movie worthwhile.
The genre itself is pretty dopey though. The shock wears off quick and then it becomes a yawn.
With evil working as hard as it is lately, the weak will always be the first to fall for it. Expect more. Stay armed.

I´ve seen Halloween and plenty of other horror flicks and have never felt the slightest urge to visit violence on others.

It isn´t the gun. It isn´t the movie.

It´s the person. (And it wouldn´t surprise me if this kid is or was on meds. Many crazies are, and they may well play a role in behavior.)

Unless and until all of us can get past blaming whatever the bad guy says motivated him or blaming the tool the bad guy use, and instead blame the bad guy directly, we won´t get anywhere.

Sad fact of life (and death):
Some few people are born with genetic, gestational or other developmental deficiencies. Some of these deficiencies are further exacerbated by ignorance or incompetence by parents, teachers, pastors, counselors, etc. Like a mudslide killing a family or an entire community, it cannot totally be predicted or avoided. Like I said, sad fact of life.

The other sad fact of life is that collectivists will latch onto any plausible scapegoat. Some collectivist movements will demonize the free speech and criminalize the entertainment industry. Ours favors them and demonizes the gun owners instead.

We should call for calm, avoiding overreaction, and avoiding governmental restraints on the freedoms of sane, responsible people. Penalties ought to come only on those who have intentionally harmed the innocent, and on those "caught in the act," i.e., absolutely imminent threats.

I was making a sarcastic point by suggesting that liberals ought to be consistant and if they blame one object (guns) for loss of life, they should , under the same principle blame the movies also. But we all know they will not because, in the end, they are not really concerned with violence and death, they just want to take our guns away.

However, I do believe that there is a measurable cumulative effect on individuals and society overall due to the coarsening of our culture by the purveyors of the type of gaabage that comes out of hollywood, the so called music industry, television, and video game publishers. One can reasonably deduce that the more feable minds among the population can be tipped over the edge by this never eanding and cumulative coarsening process whereas they would most times stay within the bounds of civilized beahvior were it not for these stimuli.

Remind me again why we need violent movies?

No, it isn´t the movie alone...but the constant barrage of violence, gore, and the glorification of evil in movies is a CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. And if we went back to having some level of self-imposed standards, there will be no violation of the First Amendment. Besides, the First Amendment protects one´s speech. Anyone can say what they want -- and as long as it doesn´t infringe upon other people´s rights (e.g. cause harm to others), there should be no repercussions for that speech. However, while we are all granted the right to free speech, we are not guaranteed any specific forum for it. This means that there is no guaranteed right to broadcast said gratuitous violence and gore on TV or in movie theatres across the country. And remember, if there is cause for harm, one may be held accountable for such speech that created that harm in the first place (e.g. go to jail if you yell "Fire!" in a crowded theatre and people are hurt or killed in stampede as a result).

The idea of killing someone "just to see what it feels like" has been glorified in several movies and songs. It seems that when some people, usually young people, are exposed to that idea they latch onto it and can´t get it out of their heads and so they actually do it. In my little rural part of the state it has happened at least 3 times that I can remember. The most memorable was a 14 year old kid who beat a 12 year old schoolmate he barely knew to death with a baseball bat in the woods behind his house. He didn´t need a gun, just a sick idea implanted into a sick brain.

Public hanging might remove some of the interest in committing these crimes

Will Obama, Holder, Biden, and Feinstein be outraged and outlaw Hollywood? Hollywood needs to be held to account. They need cracking down on, taxes raised, punishment.

Which all makes this case the more shocking, as all of the usual ´bogeymen´ are laid to rest.

I mentioned "deficiencies" in the factors that developed his character and personality, very carefully including both the genetic and environmental factors, i.e., the entire preparation of his individuality, values and inclinations.

If you feel that someone who commits cold-blooded murder is not a deficient person, then I have no further reasoning that could possibly convince you.

I don´t think this kid watched one movie and snapped suddenly. Maybe his symptoms were ignored. He seemed to have a lot of pent up anger.

For a long time we have realized young women become schizphrenic by a certain age. I don´t think enough attention is given to young men between 16 and 21 with mental issues who are prone to violence.
