A lot of people in Washington apparently forgot how good Hillary Clinton is at not telling the truth. Wednesday, in her testimony before the Senate and, later, the House, Clinton brilliantly fudged, dodged, and filibustered. Of course, she’s a pro. Clinton was slow-walking depositions, lawyering up, and shifting blame when many of her questioners were still civilians down on the farm. Aided by a ridiculous format, she outfoxed most of the Republicans with ease.Meanwhile, the Democrats, almost uniformly, seemed singularly interested in celebrating Mrs. Clinton as a global diva who somehow manages to carry the burden of her awesomeness
Politics aside for a moment - sometimes you´ve just got to sympathize with Bill Clinton. While giving her testimony Miss Hillary managed to personify every single attribute that turns a man off in a woman, and any that could possibly turn a man on was utterly lacking. Imagine being married to this Robot of Chill, this Diametric Opposite of Sensuality, this Cheese Grater of Anti-Femininity. It´s amazing Bill hasn´t had hundreds of more affairs than he´s had. Poor guy.
When Kerry takes over her job, there really won´t be much of a gender change at the head of State.
I have concluded that the Republicans, whose principal activity seems to be serving as a foil to the ruthless, relentless progress of the Commiecrats, are too lazy or too stupid to learn from a trenchant column like this one. Very likely, they are both.
"...Obama was happy to watch the country argue new limits on free expression and the necessity of giving bloodthirsty savages and terrorists a heckler’s veto on what Americans can do or say. Clinton was in on that lie, and that makes all the difference in the world."
Best point made yet about this farce. And the entire MSM was in on it, too. And by the way, the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.
After three months of planning on what to say and how to say it, she artfully dodged every question they asked which were few. The Democrats showered her with sickening praise which really turned off the viewers. They did her more harm than she did herself. I had to LOL and even she just rested her head on her hand and listened. Then she had to throw a tantrum when someone dared to ask her a question. It was a Farce alright.
Ah, what difference does it make? I mean, at this point. move on. Right? I cried about it, or pretended to, so isn´t that what really counts. What matters now is finding out what happened so it doesn´t happen again but what difference does it make what happened.
Now, this is so incredible but I suppose nothing about Hillary should surprise me. But, social media is abuzz with people who think, SHE DID GREAT! It doesn´t matter what she did or said. Alll that matters is, "I am woman Hear me Roar. Speak truth to power. Fist in the air. Right ON!" That sentient free Americans should reduce themselves to 1970´s cliches is so dispiriting. Ah, maybe Hillary´s right. What difference does any to it make. The country is over.
Can one not hear a death rattle? The death of truth as a concept, the death of even a semblance of political or personal integrity, the death of logic, the death of leadership, the death of wisdom, the death of . .. the nation.
I feel for the family members of those killed in Bengazi. Our government officials who should be held accountable for this act, just skated away untouched, then closed the book on this story. This was no hearing, it was a scripted performance designed to make everyone forget about what happened on that day.
I for one am soooo looking forward to the day Jesus returns and brings God´s judgment and justice be done.
I am sooooo tired of the double, triple, or quadruple standards out there.
While the media, sports, Hollywood, liberal Dims, and anyone Anti-American get special treatment under the law, the rest of us have to deal with reality and the sharp rebuke of "justice."
We live in an unrecognizable and ever-worsening place. The people we continue to vote for do not do us any favors. They are more and more becoming a part of the problem rather than our staunch advocates.
I smelled the faint aroma of revolution in this morning´s air...
Bill and HilLIARy´s life has been full of nothing but lying, cheating and stealing.
Off they go - to a house in the Hamptons - millions in their pockets (her campaign debt paid the DAY BEFORE her hearing ?? - AND paid to self!) and millions to be made in the next four years before she makes the history books (her real intent from the beginning) by ANY means possible.....including murder.
If this were a Republican administration, leftists would be screaming about a conspiracy to misinform the public to cover for their role in the deaths of the four Americans, by ignoring the intelligence reports and repeated requests for better security. Hillary and Obama flagrantly lied to cover up their role in the death of these men, but they can constantly lie and break every law and their minions will still back them 100%, because their ultrapartisan leftism trumps everything else.
I loved the article.......one of your very best....I particularly liked the mental picture of the cigarette.....there are those of us who remember her testimony before Congress about White Water records......one still has to very carefully parse everything she says........
"First, why did the administration lie? Well, it wanted to conceal its utter failure to prepare for terrorist attacks on September 11 — which is like being surprised by Christmas falling on December 25. Also, the Obama administration, by which I mean the Obama campaign, was desperate to protect its hyped record of fighting terrorism."
Her Republican questioners should have been ready when she asked "What difference does it make" with this kind of response. Instead, they folded up and were left muttering in the corner. (I like Marco, but he had nothin´.)
Every question Hillary got was agreed to before...the questions were arranged and telegraphed to her so she would be ready. The whole thing was a lying farce...both by Hillary and the lying Senators, except for Paul, and Johnson. Rubio was a joke.
Hillary lied and lies without shame or remorse. SHE IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR who should not be in politics. In 2008, Hillary accused the Bosnian Serbs of shooting at her, and she and Chelsie had to run for their car, and it was not true. Yesterday, Hillary said that the way the four brave Americans died makes no difference, and she pounded on the table. I am very skeptical about people who pound on the table to make a point The way the four Americans died makes a huge difference to the poor widows and children. If Hillary had alerted the Army and took the proper rescue measures perhaps the four men may be alive today. Is it possible that the reason why Hillary did not get their frantic calls for help BECAUSE SHE WAS DRUNK????
The hearing was a disgusting display of fawning incompetence. Why even call for a hearing when the outcome is known in advance, and I think we all knew what would happen in that room. There is no accountability in Washington. Mrs.Clinton skated and Republicans for the most part were ineffective. The questioning was weak and rambling. She filibustered and totally ignored what she didn´t care to answer. The men and women tasked to find out what happened and why should be ashamed. They failed the country and those families.
Hillary has a "tell" when she´s lying. She looks down while she´s talking and moves her head side to side until the lie has been delivered. She didn´t roll out that phony indignant scream until someone actually got too close for comfort.
Hillary learned well as an assistant to the prosecution at the Watergate hearings. She learned what happens to people who give honest testimony at a politically-directed lynching. So she approaches the hearings with a barrage of earnest doubletalk, baffling bull[bleep], airy generalities, and answering questions with the answer to a question that wasn´t asked -- all the tools of evasion were employed. Her testimony revealed her to be a skilled Artful Dodger and a lousy Secretary of State.
Saw Glenn Beck give a terrific insight into the (w)itch´s performance.
It was trained counterintelligence. Delay, distract, evade and delay, and lie and delay. Did you notice how many times she said she would give her answers later in a written response?
Hillary didn´t answer the questions that were about her lying about the video, etc. She would talk about something else.
Sen. Johnson asked about why they lied to the American public. She didn´t answer the question. She talked about who killed the Americans. That wasn´t the question. The question was why did you lie the to American public?
Another example of the poor excuse for Republicans we have in Congress: If Jonah Goldberg could come up with at least two occasions where PIAPS blamed the video for Benghazi, why couldn´t a republican on the committee say, "excuse me, Madam Secretary, but you DID say this video was to blame. Let me refresh your memory..." and feed her the quotes? Republicans have had at least three months to construct a strategy for this hearing and they didn´t even have the simplest of tactics to counter this harpie. Obama is succeeding: I am virtually assured of registering as an independent from now on. Get a set, Republicans! These people have openly declared war on you, and it´s time to fight back!
Great comments! #6, love that string of sobriquets. "HiLIARy" very good, #16.
Still laughing, #30.
#12, i weep with you.
The media will not do the job of journalism. We have to pick up the slack, i.e., talk to those uninformed voters out there.
Collect the videos of her drinking, of her laughing about the murder of Gaddafi, "We came. We saw. He died. ha ha ha ha." Her faux emotion during the session this week both the "tears" and the "rage." all of it. AND the four years of wreckage left in her wake.
Remember when she was running for the Senate, and her male opponent (name slips my mind) dared to approach her podium, her "space"?
Jonah Goldberg: Hillary Clinton did not tell the truth!
Hillary ClintonIn a cackling hen grating and annoying screech):"WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE"???
And thus the dilemma we L-Dotters face now every day in America...the liars are in charge, the lap dog ass-press rump swabs cover for them, and the idiot low-information voters dont have a clue what we´re talking about!
I thought on 9-12-12 why dida back water like Benghazi warrant theattention of an ambassador. so I looked up on Wikipedia the embassy list ( about 15 seconds) found out that there were 70 embassies in Tripoli. That is the capitol (another 15 secords). So what else was in Benghazi? So I looked down a list of Govermental Offices other agencies. A ha! I found the Transitional council for the Liberation of Libya.(10 seconds). This was the group we were armingto fight Kadaffi. Might w still be arming them? How bout a few answers on that? All this was really hard to find, right?
Joshua Strange will never forget the girl he met in May 2011. Both were underclassmen at Alabama´s Auburn University when a common acquaintance introduced them. "We instantly became attached at the hip and did everything together," she recalled six months later. "I rather quickly moved into his place. . . . Everything was great until pretty much June 29." That night, an intimate encounter in Mr. Strange´s bed went wrong. She called police, who detained him for questioning. She said she had awakened to find him forcing himself on her; he said the sexual activity was consensual and initiated by
Sen. Ted Cruz isn’t on the ballot next year, but as candidates meet Monday’s filing deadline for Republican primaries, he appears ever-present. Cruz’s tea party-fueled, come-from-behind trouncing of David Dewhurst in the Senate race last year has provided him a gravitational pull that is moving GOP candidates further right and producing scores of would-be first-time officeholders. “You’ve got two things happening,” said Republican political consultant Bill Miller. One of them is the “Cruz phenomenon, and he is the phenom at this moment,” he said. “The other is that conservatives believe that if they’re going to succeed — with the Democratic administration in Washington
Six months after the Internal Revenue Service´s inspector general revealed that the tax-collection agency had been targeting conservative organizations for added scrutiny and delaying their applications for tax-exempt status, the IRS has proposed new rules for handling political activity by nonprofits. The proposed rules would plunge the agency deeper into political regulation. The rules would upset more than 50 years of settled law and practice by limiting the ability of certain tax-exempt nonprofits, organized under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, to conduct nonpartisan voter registration and voter education. Such organizations would be forbidden to leave records of officeholder votes
Fact: The IRS targeted conservative and tea party groups requesting tax-exempt status in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election. That’s a fact. Congress held hearings — embarrassing hearings. Three top Internal Revenue Service officials resigned. No heads rolled, but for the Obama administration, and the lawless Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., that amounted to a major scandal. Even White House spokesman Jay “Circus” Carney called the IRS’ actions “inappropriate.” Fact. But President Obama, in an interview last week with sycophant Chris Matthews, now says the entire scandal was made up by the media. “When we do things right, they don’t get
Bob Dole once made a droll crack to the New York Times about Newt Gingrich, then the speaker of the House. “Gingrich’s staff has these five file cabinets, four big ones and this little tiny one,” Dole said. “Number one is ‘Newt’s ideas.’ Number two, ‘Newt’s ideas.’ Number three, number four, ‘Newt’s ideas.’ The little one is ‘Newt’s Good Ideas.’” Here’s one from Gingrich’s little file: he has been pushing back against some of the more thoughtless conservative reactions to the death of Nelson Mandela. The backlash has ranged from the merely tone-deaf—think of Rick Santorum drawing comparisons between Obamacare and
More than any other subject, apolitical sorts will ask me about Fox News. “Is it really crazy?” my British friends inquire, flashing the sort of smile that a botanist might exhibit while examining a newly discovered species of moss. “Is it, like, really right wing?” The question has always slightly irritated me, showing as it does that the considerable success that the Left has had in demonizing its opposition extends even across the Atlantic. Certainly, both Fox’s commentary and its ostensibly straight reporting are marked by the right-leaning proclivities of its owners. But the notion that the network is unique in
The good news, if you want to call it that, is that roughly 1.6 million Americans have enrolled in ObamaCare so far. The not-so-good news is that 1.46 million of them actually signed up for Medicaid. If that trend continues, it could bankrupt both federal and state governments. Medicaid is already America’s third-largest government program, trailing only Social Security and Medicare, as a proportion of the federal budget. Almost 8 cents out of every dollar that the federal government spends goes to Medicaid. That’s more than $265 billion per year. Indeed, already Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid account for 48% of federal spending.
On Wednesday afternoon, a bunch of twentysomethings were summoned to the White House to hear an infomercial from Barack Obama himself. He was pitching health insurance. “The product is good. It’s affordable,” the President told them. “… We’re going to keep working through any glitches, problems that may come up.” He urged them to spread the word. “So if you’re a student body president, set up a conference on campus … If you’re a bartender, have a happy hour … Post something on your Facebook or Instagram.”Mr. Obama desperately needs healthy young people to sign on to Obamacare in order
Hillary Clinton may be the overwhelming front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, but she’s going to have to deal with some knotty problems sooner or later. She can’t ignore forever either her party or the media’s entreaties to talk on important subjects. The first problem surely is health care. President Obama won’t allow it to be repealed, so the Affordable Care Act will be hanging there, damaged and disliked for Clinton to address. Will she throw it and her former boss overboard, call for a single-payer plan as a sop to the left and risk scaring off the
What will history make so far of our five-year voyage with Barack Obama? What will it make of hope and change — other than a sort of hysteria of 2008 that was a political version of the Pet Rock or the Cabbage Patch Doll derangement? Did we really experience faux-Greek columns and Latin mottoes (vero possumus) as Obama props to usher in the new order of the ages? What exactly made David Brooks focus on trouser creases, or Chris Matthews on involuntary leg tickles? How could any serious person believe a candidate who promised to change the very terrain of the
House Republicans say they’re proud of their 2013 campaign to stymie President Obama’s regulatory agenda, even as Congress comes under fire for one of its least productive years. The bitterly divided Congress will pass fewer laws in 2013 than any year in modern history. As a result of the gridlock, President Obama has turned to his administration’s regulatory authority in pursuit of key policy goals, including efforts to tackle gun violence and climate change. While House Republicans have pinned the blame for Congress’ anemic legislative output on Senate Democrats, they make no bones about their efforts to blunt Obama’s rulemaking power. “We’re left
The Grinch — and anyone else trying to dampen the holiday spirit — should stay away from Texas this year. A group of Texans is coming out in full force to protect Christmas, Hanukkah and other holiday celebrations and to make sure students, teachers and parents have the right to observe their holidays at school. “It’s time to end the war on Christmas and stop forcing our schools to bow at the altar of political correctness,” said Jonathan Saenz, president of Texas Values, which is spearheading a Merry Christmas Texas effort. After legal battles that prevented a student a decade ago from handing
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Call me Grinch, call me Scrooge. Call me Lord Voldemort of the Yuletide. None could be worse than sending me a holiday card with glossy photographs of your lovely, smiling family. My wife, Emily, and I place your cards like trophies on our shelves, continuing an old-school practice that began about 175 years ago as a way of maintaining relationships as families and friends moved far and wide. Today’s cards may appear more personalized — with photos of spouses, kids and pets, and distribution lists much smaller than a sprawling collection of Facebook friends. But when I flip over the photo
Chris Matthews is crazy. Nevertheless, when left-wingers talk openly with one another, their craziness can be revealing. That is the case, I think, with this remarkable MSNBC clip. Matthews, fresh from his kneepad interview with President Obama, praises what he terms a uniquely brilliant insight by Al Sharpton: South Africa’s white politicians of the apartheid era were more patriotic than today’s Republicans: I haven’t heard anything as smart as what I heard Reverend Sharpton say a moment go in five years. The difference between the way F.W. de Klerk handled the need for change and the election – democratic election
