Sen. Johnson: Shouldn’t have
‘speculated’ on Clinton’s emotions

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Jonathan Easley

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/24/2013 12:16:34 PM

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) on Thursday stepped back from his claim that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton became emotional at Wednesday’s Benghazi hearing in an effort to dodge his questions, saying he shouldn’t have speculated on her reaction. “I was responding to a question,” Johnson said on CNN’s “Starting Point” on Thursday. “I probably speculated, and I shouldn’t have.” Clinton showed flashes of anger as she delivered her long-awaited testimony on the terrorist attack that killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, at hearings in front of the House and Senate Foreign Relations committees on Wednesday.

Comments:
Oh puhleeze! Why do Republicans always have to back down?? He knows he is going to get flogged when he goes on CNN. He should know better. It´s outrageous.

What difference, at this point, does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again.

Who writes this stuff for her?

Obviously, if you want to find out what happened and how to prevent it from ever happening again ... wouldn´t it be a smart move to find out why it happened in the first place?

Just imagine this hearing if the roles were reversed and it was a Republican administration and Sec of State. The Dems would have gone wild accusing Republicans of murder. They would have been vile, accusatory, rude, unethical, and sanctimonious. The press would have piled on creating an anti republican circus. Hearings would have lasted days if not weeks with front page leading stories every day painting Republicans in a bad light.

And that is how tyranny uses propaganda to sway the ignorant and the gullible. The Democrats would have looked upon the Benghazi event strictly as a political opportunity. Republicans simply want the facts to prevent such events in the future. Propaganda will win every time.

Republicans and conservatives, being on the whole decent, honest, well-mannered people, often just do not seem to know how to deal with characters like Hillary Clinton and other Leftists. They suffer from denial. They do not understand their adversaries and those who support their adversaries, e.g. the news media.

It sometimes seems that the Republican party just does not want to get its hands dirty by mud wrestling the Democrats in the political sewer. The disastrous Romney campaign is one example of this elevated, dignified point of view. Romney chose to behave as though he were above it all, to claim the moral high ground, and to refuse to engage in vulgar, slanderous, ad hominem attack ads. We see how that worked out.

Where O where are the Republicans who can and will fight the Democrats the only way they can successfully be fought, by turning their own weapons against them?

Following up last weekend’s official White House photo of President Obama talking on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the administration today released another phone photo, this one of a conversation with French President Francois Hollande. This one comes from Key Largo, Fla., where Obama is spending the weekend before returning to Washington to host a reception Monday for the 2012 and 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Champions before moving on to fundraising events Tuesday. “The President welcomed the strong, unified stance of the United States and the European Union regarding Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, including

Two days after a shocking defeat, liberals are still grousing about the Senate spiking the nomination of former NAACP Legal Fund Director Debo Adegbile to be head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. What really burns them up is not just that Republicans successfully filibustered one of President Obama’s choices for a government post but that six Democrats joined with them. But rather than take responsibility for putting forward a controversial figure who was sure to provoke bitter opposition from both sides of the aisle, liberals are reverting to form by blaming their defeat on conservative demagoguery and racism. WASHINGTON — In late December, President Barack Obama´s new legislative affairs team sent him more than a dozen recommendations for ways to improve his strained relations with Capitol Hill. The president responded with a few ideas of his own, including a request for more social events with lawmakers at the White House. It was a surprising suggestion from a president who has done little socializing with lawmakers of either party and has dismissed the notion that sharing a cocktail or a meal with members of Congress is a prescription for easing Washington gridlock. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey

The most dangerous parts of a flight are takeoff and landing. Rarely do incidents happen when a plane is cruising seven miles above the earth. So the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jet well into its flight Saturday morning over the South China Sea has led aviation experts to assume that whatever happened was quick and left the pilots no time to place a distress call.
