Budget figures challenge Dem
claims about lack of
funding for embassy security

Fox News, by Staff

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton repeatedly cited a supposed lack of funding for embassy security during testimony Wednesday on the Libya terror attack, opening the door for congressional Democrats to suggest stingy Republicans contributed to leaving the post in Benghazi vulnerable. Democratic New York Rep. Eliot Engel claimed Congress "slashed" diplomatic security requests over the past two years. Budget numbers, though, show the overall diplomatic security budget has ballooned over the past decade. While there were modest decreases in funding in recent years -- and Congress has approved less than was requested -- the overall security budget

Letting 4 people die over a lack of funding is absurd. These people get lamer by the day.

The Hillbag is just trying to shift the blame off to anybody but herself, something she is quite experienced at. Oh yes, she´ll claim "responsibility" in words only because there are no consequences and to get patted on the back, but then look for any excuse to wriggle out from under any real responsibility when the going gets tough. Besides, it was just a few guys out for a walk that decided to kill a few Americans. The Hillbag is beyond belief, and so is Congress for having no teeth!

My favorite? She was sooo "busy staying in constant contact with the Doctors treating the wounded that she didn´t have time to review the after action reports, familiarize herself with the victims prior correspondence/intelligence reports, keep track of what HER spokesman was saying on FIVE TV News/Talk shows or watch the videos from the live feed drones overhead at the time". I guess micro managing Physicians several times zones away is somewhere in her Job Description...and takes precedence over her "Other" roles.

If anyone here remembers when Rush explained how baseline budgets work, they will know that the only thing that get slashed in the government budget is the rate of increase in spending for each dept. Their actual budgets never ever get slashed. It has been at least 15 years since I heard that but I will never forget that lesson.

Kathleen Sebelius is resigning, and Rachel Maddow is right to not be happy about it, not one little bit. For once, I completely agree with Maddow’s analysis. This surprise resignation presents Republicans with an unexpected opportunity to refocus the conversation on Obamacare’s negatives, offers a chance to force vulnerable Senate Democrats to take a hard vote on Obamacare six months before the midterms, and serves to disrupt what had been a positive few days of media spin for the health care law into another conversation about its many failings. About a month ago, in a conversation with a Senate Democratic

Democrats plan to turn out thousands of African-American voters this fall, in an effort to hold the Senate majority. The challenge is that some of them aren’t yet registered to vote. Which begs the question, after opportunities to elect and re-elect the first black president, why would an African-American choose this year’s midterm elections to finally jump from the sidelines and into the game? This question especially matters given that contests in North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Michigan and Louisiana will help determine control of the Senate. Democratic strategists believe there is low-hanging fruit in the black populations in Arkansas and Louisiana, where Democrats

A plane crash at Smolensk in Russia four years ago wiped out the Warsaw leadership. It used to be seen as an accident. Now, after Putin’s games in Ukraine, people aren’t so sure. Four years ago this week, Polish President Lech Kaczynski was killed in a plane crash near the Katyn Forest in Russia where he was flying to honor the 22,000 Polish officers, lawyers, priests and professors slaughtered there by the Soviets 70 years before. Ninety-five other military, political and public figures including his wife died on that plane. One of the more heartbreaking details to emerge was that First

Last week Hillary Clinton gave what appeared at first to be a rambling and unfocused answer when asked to name the proudest achievement of her four years as Secretary of State. The short version is, she doesn´t have one. But Clinton´s words make a lot more sense when seen not as a non-answer to a specific question but as an effort to lay the foundation and establish a theme for a presidential campaign. The occasion was her appearance on a panel discussion at the "Women in the World" meeting in Manhattan. It was pretty easy going; the moderator, New York Times

Thursday, The Mirror spotted him at lunch, dining al fresco at BLT Steak, a short sprint from the White House. If the 32-year-old was ever a tense, stressed out aide in a suit, you wouldn’t know it. He was relaxed, at ease, and sipping lemonade as he chatted away with what looked to be a longtime female friend, possibly a former coworker. So, of course, The Mirror listened in. At the Civil Rights Summit in Austin this week, there were some prominent Democrats who surveyed the landscape and admitted that things are, in fact, much different now than they were in the early 1960s. A new review is questioning the effectiveness of two key drugs enlisted in the fight against influenza and in turn the investments by governments to stockpile the drugs in the event of a global flu outbreak. The antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir ) are commonly used to treat influenza in healthy adults and children. In the case of Tamiflu, the drug does shorten symptoms of influenza by about half a day - as the manufacturer suggests - but there is insufficient evidence to support claims that it reduces hospital admissions or serious complications, such as confirmed pneumonia or
