Nebraska OKs re-routed Keystone XL
pipeline, now it´s Obama´s problem

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

Posted By:SurferLad, 1/23/2013 9:14:31 AM

A day after President Obama vowed an aggressive global war on global warming, Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman delivered a political hot potato to the White House in the form of state approval of a re-routed Keystone XL pipeline. Given the pressing domestic need for a) more reliable sources of oil and b) thousands of long-delayed, good-paying jobs, you might think federal approval of the endeavor with our closest neighbor and best friend is a gimme. Ah, but we are just three days past the middle of the 2,922-day Obama era.

We err when we assume President Barack Hussein Obama wants to make things better for us when it comes to gas and oil.
That is wrong. He is interested in keeping prices sky-high in order to make his ´green´ energy projects cost-effective.
If the price of gas at the pump falls to $2.00 or even 2.50, all the windmills and solar panels and Solyndras will be even more of an albatross around his skinny neck.
He will not sign something that will make him look worse.

There is no political benefit for O to approve it. And besides, the ´wrong people´ will earn a profit on the pipeline.

FTA: "...It will just be exported through another pipeline to the West Coast for sale to China, while alienating the United States´ best neighbor, closest ally and largest trading partner."

So, that would make it a win-win-win for many on the left.
Deprive the U.S. of oil which would help boost the economy. Check
Improve China´s access to an inexpensive reliable oil supply, thus strengthening them strategically. Check
Alienate an ally and trading partner of the U.S.. Check

What´s not to love?

Rarely if ever mentioned...GE and Berkshire Hathaway manufacture all of the rail cars currently hauling the oil that would travel through this line...and control ther tracks it rides on. Two of the Big Three Tankcar Companies are based in Chicago. And perhaps most unmentioned, The delay has changed our trading relationship PERMANENTLY with Canada. We had an exclusive on their energy exports, at a reduced rate. It has been rescinded, never to return, and will affect the prices not only of this heavy crude but also all other forms of Oil, Gas, Coal and generated Electricity.

It looks settled now; Hillary

It looks like we won´t have much to write for the next three years. The media, which knows all and tells some, has proclaimed Hillary Clinton the 2016 Democrat nominee. Who can argue? Joe the Delaware Gaffer? Nah? Clinton had breakfast with Biden this week to break the news. And lunch with Obama to get their stories straight about the lethal Benghazi screw-up. She assured him she won´t critically distance herself from him for another two years. Some of his campaigners signed on to the Clinton campaign-that´s-pretending-not-to-be--yet. And some senators profess adoration.

Montana´s Attorney General Tim Fox has taken a stand against revealing the identities of concealed weapon permit holders. All 50 states now have laws permitting qualified individuals to own and carry concealed firearms. But emotions have flared over identifying all those as a class. A firestorm of controversy erupted last winter when a suburban New York newspaper, citing the public´s right to know, published the names and addresses of all licensed handgun owners in two counties.

Tonight, millions of middle class Americans will go to sleep worried - worried about a job, worried about health care, worried about whether they can ever get ahead. While the bills stack up, many middle class families wonder whether there’s ever going to be enough money left over at the end of the month to save for retirement or college tuition. All the while, an out-of-touch government in Washington continues to abuse its power and put special interests first while hard working Americans are left to pay the bill.

Hi everybody. On Wednesday, I spoke about what we need to do as a country to build a better bargain for the middle class — to make sure everyone who works hard has a chance to get ahead in the 21st century economy. You see, over the past four and a half years, America has fought its way back from the worst recession of our lifetimes. We saved the auto industry, took on a broken health care system and invested in new American technologies to reverse our addiction to foreign oil.

What a difference 18,262 days makes. President Obama interrupted his campaign for somebody to do something about the nation´s economy to meet in the Oval Office with Truong Tan Sang Thursday. He´s the president of Vietnam, the country whose name is seared into the American psyche from the lost war. You may recall the U.S. and Communists argued over what shape their peace-talk table would be in 1968. The two presidents solved that problem yesterday; they didn´t have one. Obama was an infant an that time. So, he´s losing his own guerrilla war now much the same way in Afghanistan.

One way to look at President Obama´s speech tour today: President Obama takes his firm commitment to grow the American economy on the road to urge creation of thousands of new jobs to expand the middle-class. [Snip] Another way to look at Obama´s tour: Lord spare us, the nation´s most addicted campaigner begins -- what? -- the 84th call on somebody to do something about the stubbornly stagnant economy to finally create hundreds of thousands of new jobs he promised four years ago. Obama has pivoted to the jobs meme so often he needs new soles on his shoes.

Just as the plentiful polemics about the emotional Zimmerman-Martin case began to wane, President Obama re-inserted himself. His 2,156 words were both admirable and puzzling, promising and empty. In terms of his over-promising in 2007-08, Obama´s remarks were wan. almost gratuitous. To the minor extent that Obama’s been a leader, he´s a reluctant one. He´s an exhorter, full of "you-should´s" and infrequent "I will´s." Lots of "I´s" in Obama talk. Not many "We´s." For the first time in our memory Obama´s words seemed heartfelt. We say "seemed" because like many Americans we´ve grown suspicious.

Hi, everybody. Three years ago this weekend, we put in place tough new rules of the road for the financial sector so that irresponsible behavior on the part of the few could never again cause a crisis that harms millions of middle-class families. As part of that reform, we set up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the first-ever independent consumer watchdog with one job: to protect families from that sort of behavior. Two years ago, I nominated a man named Rich Cordray, a former attorney general from Ohio, to run this consumer protection bureau. But Republicans in the Senate refused to give

Get out your cellphone. Set the alarm for 58 minutes from now. When it sounds, you´ll know how long it takes Detroit police to answer an emergency 911-call. That once bustling place has the highest violent crime rate of major American cities. Detroit has about 700,000 people, more than 80% black. In the 1950´s it had nearly two million as the nation´s fourth-largest city. Thursday, their city became the largest US municipality to declare bankruptcy. Others will likely follow. And in a disturbing way those festering financial problems locally are likely precursors of a similar simmering national debt dilemma.

President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that

Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,

Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.

No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan.
