Our President’s Lincoln Presumption
Creators Syndicate, by Mona Charen

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 1/22/2013 5:37:02 AM

He swore his oath of office on Abraham Lincoln’s Bible. He has asked to give the State of the Union address on Lincoln’s birthday. He rode to Washington in 2009 on a train route similar to Lincoln’s in 1861. He has compared his critics to Lincoln’s critics. He confides to admirers that he likes to read the handwritten Gettysburg address that hangs in the Lincoln bedroom. Barack Obama is inviting the world to compare him not just to good presidents but to the greatest in American history. There can be majesty in invoking past presidents and the Founders.

Lincoln freed slaves.
Obama wants people enslaved to the State.

Lincoln was an American patriot.
Obama is an anti-American socialist.

I see no similarity between the two men, at all.

Obama is blinded by his narcissism, fueled by the "yes men" in his regime and by the docile and duplicitous media.

When people are blind to a problem, Bad Things usually follow.

The way things are going, Obama may have a corollary to Lincoln: The country may start to break up under his watch.

Lincoln presided over national carnage. Perhaps he shares that with Obama.

And whether Lincoln was the greatest President is certainly debatable.

What they aren´t telling you is Lincoln´s priority was not freeing the slaves. That was a tool. It was economics purely. The South was getting richer than the North.

I thought Lincoln waged his war against the Confederacy because they seceeded; slavery was secondary, at best, and only became a rallying cause after the carnage of Antietam and ten of thousands of dead Union soldiers.

Vatican’s secret, and deadly,

Inspired by Ancient Egypt, the Vatican embarked on a 40-year quest to preserve the remains of its holy adherents — including one of its latest saints, Pope John XXIII The spiritual making of a saint is rooted in law, bureaucracy and, of course, faith. The physical making of a saint is something else entirely. On April 27, popes John XXIII and John Paul II will be granted sainthood by Pope Francis. It will be a day to honor two of the Catholic Church’s most popular leaders, the “Good Pope” who served only five years, and the superstar who toured the

Sunday marks the fourth anniversary of Obamacare’s signing on March 23, 2010. Democratic Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy said that at this point Democrats “have a really good story to tell.” But Americans outside of Washington, D.C. are also telling their own stories about the health care law. To commemorate the anniversary, Republican Ohio Rep. Bob Gibbs this week asked people on his Facebook page to share how “this law has impacted your life.” A few of the answers to Gibbs’ question are presented below. Please mark this anniversary by sharing your own stories about Obamacare impact in the Comments section. The president

With many political debates, I try to give opponents the benefit of the doubt on intentions. Sure, raising taxes is a bad thing, but some politicians and pundits believe higher taxes will benefit society. Some people think we need to spend more, and others really fear climate change. When it comes to the HHS abortifacient/contraception/sterilization mandate, however, I’ve almost stopped being that generous with the left’s media and thought leaders. This New York Times Magazine editorial is a prime example as to why. Almost from start to finish, the piece misleads and misdirects readers about the mandate, its opponents, and

One Ukrainian serviceman was reported wounded in the clash. It was unclear if the forces, who didn´t bear insignia, were Russian military or local pro-Russia militia.
