Obama declares war on reality

| When George W Bush declared war on an abstract noun--"Terror"--he was widely and inevitably mocked by the left for his foolishness. Not to be outdone, Barack Obama has used his second inaugural address to declare war on an even more nebulous threat to the security of the world: reality, itself.[Snip]The first sentence is a blatant untruth. Concerted global action so far to deal with the threat of climate change has resulted in: higher energy prices; more deaths from fuel poverty; more intrusive regulation; the destruction of rainforests and the squandering of agricultural land on biofuels; higher food prices;

Comments: James at his best.

We´re now spending an incredible $80 billion a year on food stamps and the overwhelming majority of those people are able bodied enough to do some work. In Obama´s alternative universe, this is a sign of government success, not a disgrace to the jobless situation in this country as we free wheel ourselves towards national bankruptcy.
the idea of working is becoming obsolete except if you can land a cushy government job.
The post office is a microcosm of all that´s wrong in government administration but according to Obama we can´t turn back to the failures of the recent past.
You have branches of the gov´t being ordered by Obama to cook the books on the real unemployment rate. Isn´t it just amazing that the 7.8% figure matches exactly the rate as when Obama took over. Never mind that there´s millions less in the workforce.

I like James concept of the attack on reality - when you oconsider all the things we always beleived in as normal, you have to agrre that nothing is normal anymore - fantasy reigns.

This is all very simple to understand, Mr. Delingpole.
The “threat of climate change” is being used by anthrophobic environmentalists to punish consumption and curtail human activity.
It is being used by grant-seeking academics for job security.
It is being used by politicians to extract campaign contributions from “green” industries that require subsidies to operate, bribes from businesses that would be adversely affected by a tangled web of costly regulations, and kickbacks from operators of carbon credit exchanges that were created out of thin air.
It is being used by the U.N. to extract wealth from rich nations to bribe the leaders of poor nations to remain underdeveloped.
And it is being used by China, Russia, and India to gain advantage over the West.
There is no consensus describing an ideal global climate, no ceiling on what climate change alarmists are willing to spend in an attempt to preserve today’s climate, and no serious consideration of whether it makes more moral and economic sense to simply adapt to warmer or cooler global climates.
Climate change alarmism is simply the greatest scientific, political and economic scam ever perpetrated in history.

Yes #6 made it very simple to understand. Thanks for the run-down on the climate change scam. We should all memorize those points and be prepared to repeat over and over until this farce is finally put to bed.

When Bush declared war on "Terror", he wasn´t only derided by liberals. Anyone with a brain knew what that meant no matter which side of the aisle you were on...as long as you could keep redefining "Terror", you could keep a "War" going that would profit a few at the expense of the rest of us.
It took us 3-1/2 years to defeat the Japanese and the Nazis. It´s now 10 years later and things aren´tany better...Where´s that darned ol´ "Terror" hiding out? We oughta go get him!! We are all so totally scr***d.

Great list, #6, to which I would add only: It is being used by self-righteous, hypocritical "environmentalists" like DiCaprio (and like my brother and sister-in-law)to make the rest of us SUV-driving schlubs feel guilty and make themselves appear superior.

´´Still, for all that, I applaud the President´s chutzpah and ingenuity.´´ I think that´s one hand clapping, but that´s lovely using a Jewish word to describe that man´s ´´war.´´
The article concludes, ´´Obama´s glorious war on reality will be a war without end. Bad luck, America.´´ There I have to disagree. It´s not luck; it´s reaping the whirlwind. After all the blessings this nation has been given, the people turned away from the loving Father who had bestowed them. No luck involved there. It´s a direct consequence that people who deal in reality could predict. Neither is it without end. Read the back of The Book.

A senior Eurocrat sparked outrage last night after calling for the phrase “illegal immigrant” to be banned from the European Union.[Snip] She has instructed EU Commission staff to refer to foreigners who break border control laws as “irregular migrants” or simply “people” instead. But her attempt to dictate how the issue of immigration is discussed was savaged last night. UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said: “Now the EU is even trying to change the language. “This sounds like something straight out of the pages of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. It shows that what we are dealing with here

His house, his booze, his drugs, his women and his 17 children were paid for by a benefits system meant to be a safety net for the truly needy.[Snip] This was one of the most horrible crimes committed against children in Britain in recent years. It was cynical. It was calculating. And it was done out of malice in a ham-fisted plot which went wrong. The trial spoke volumes about the sheer nastiness of the individuals involved. But it also lifted the lid on the bleak and often grotesque world of the welfare benefit scroungers--of whom there are not dozens,

A coral reef in Northern Australia severely damaged by warming seas has managed to completely heal itself in just 12 years, stunned researchers have found. The team found that being left alone to breed on its own was key. The discovery raises hope that other damaged reefs could ´regenerate´. The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998. It was hit by coral bleaching, caused by higher water temperatures that break down the coral´s symbiotic relationship with algae that provide food for coral growth.

North Korea has transported two more missiles to the east coast, Seoul military sources have revealed, triggering speculation that it is ready for an abrupt missile launch. North Korea has loaded two intermediate-range missiles onto mobile launchers and hidden them in an unidentified facility near the east coast, South Korea´s Yonhap news agency has said. "It has been confirmed that North Korea, early this week, transported two Musudan mid-range missiles by train to the east coast and loaded them on vehicles equipped with launch pads," Yonhap quoted the official as saying. The official said the mobile launchers had since

As the US and China grow increasingly involved, Kim Jong-un must be brought into line if war is not to be triggered by an act of recklessness. There are two schools of thought about what lies behind North Korea’s increasingly frenzied posturing. The first goes like this: the rhetoric emanating from Pyongyang--including calls to “break the waists of the crazy enemies [and] totally cut their windpipes”--is no worse than their decades-old ritualistic promises to turn South Korea into a “sea of fire”. What we are witnessing, according to this theory, is nothing more than an inexperienced leader

Anyone who remembers the halcyon dreams of the 1990s, of civil society spreading the world over, heralding a new peaceful, global millennium, must marvel at the path the young 21st century has taken. Even those who paid attention to global Jihad before the millennium could not imagine how vulnerable the West would prove in the coming, wildly asymmetrical war. Those who, over the course of the last 13 years, have awakened to the ever-growing danger of Islamism and to the astonishing inability of decent people--Muslims and non-Muslims--to effectively oppose its aggressions, owe themselves a brief lesson in cognitive warfare, and

The political race many had anticipated would unfold in the 1st congressional district--the national comedian’s sister versus the once-disgraced governor angling for a comeback--is here. Former Gov. Mark Sanford won Tuesday’s GOP runoff over former Charleston County Councilman Curtis Bostic, according to unofficial results. Sanford now faces five more weeks on the campaign trail before a May 7 showdown with Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, whose business background and moderate politics are expected to create a tight contest. Lowcountry voters haven’t elected a Democrat from the 1st District for more than three decades, but Colbert Busch already has shown

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Clinton praised her own mother for helping empower her to success and marveled at the opportunities that her own daughter Chelsea has pursued. But Clinton warned that there is still so much to do to promote women´s rights in America. "As I look at all these young women that I am privileged to work with, or know through Chelsea, and its hard to imagine turning the clock on them," Clinton said.

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today. On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,
