| Paul Lieberman is a feature writer who spent 24 years covering a variety of beats at the Los Angeles Times. He has won a fistful of awards plus a Nieman Fellowship and was on two reporting teams that were awarded the Pulitzer Prize. Back in 1992 the paper had just run a story about how the Intelligence unit of the Los Angeles Police Department was digging up dirt on various celebrities and politicians around town while monitoring organized crime. The piece said the practice started back in the 1950s. A few days later, Lieberman received a call from a dissenting reader.

To stop violence, start in the "sewer that is Hollywood" Sean Penn´s Gangster Squad takes a true story from the days of old fashioned crime of bookies and wise guys and morphs it into twisted and FALSE violence and wanton destruction for the sake of gratuitous violent shock value. Another movie to boycott based on violent falsehoods and the Chavista Communist Sean Penn.

The Hollywood pigs who parade on red carpets promote sex and violence among our kids while they destroy the US CONSITITION.
When will they ever learn?
When will the values from our Heartland return? Obama and his Chicago gangs have spread across the individual States like a plague of locust devouring everything that others earned by force.
They have wrecked our Democracy as they promote dresses, suits, bobbles and beads.

Anyone remember "White Heat"? It´s a nice, light musical comedy from the days before Hollywood movies caused all the violence in America. In a heartwarming story about a talented entrepreneur and his devotion to his mother, I particularly remember the final dance number, "Top Of The World, Ma," in which our winsome hero, played by veteran hoofer James Cagney, dances out his homage to family values atop an oil refinery. If only Hollywood still made non-violent, life-affirming movies like that, crazy people would stop murdering us.
Fortunately, we can still take refuge in the works of Shakespeare, where killing is unknown and things always work out for the best.

In the old days, people treated entertainers as degenerates. They watched them on stages where the immorality was contained, but never associated with these low life´s. Now our society exalts them and listens to their advice. Our elders were smarter then we are.

Righto #7. Check out "Titus Andronicus" for starters. Maybe a better correlation can be found regarding fathers in the home. It applies to girls as well as boys. Nuclear families: there might be a reason why they have been recognized as the basic unit in virtually every culture. Have any of the recent mass killers had a stable father figure; excepting the Fort Hood shooter who was religiously motivated?

The fact that teenage and young men see these movies and think it´s cool to emulate them is a reason not to go. That and the publicity that people get when they perpetrate these mass murders leads many impressionable youths to think at least their name will be remembered. Stop giving them the opportunity to become infamous by not revealing their names, and even giving the impression that they are retarded/ignorant sub-humans. Why else would these killers do their deeds if not for some imaginary revenge on the public? Stop publicizing them, and giving kids the idea that they will be long remembered for something, even if it is a horrible deed. Leave it to the psychiatrists to determine whether he was sane or not, but keep his identity unknown, and don´t make anti-heroes out of them.

Denver-based CNN journalist Jim Spellman says the total lack of media coverage of the legal travails faced by Fox News reporter Jana Winter for protecting her sources clearly demonstrates an anti-Fox News bias in the press. Spellman claimed in a tweet that if Winter, who faces a subpoena and potential contempt of court charges for protecting her sources, worked for the New York Times instead of Fox News, the case would be garnering far greater exposure. “Observation: If @janawinter, who may go to jail to protect sources, worked for @nytimes instead of @FoxNews the case would be huge,” Spellman tweeted Sunday night.

In the U.K., private ownership of firearms is virtually banned. Professional criminals can still get guns, of course, but for your typical thug, knives are the weapon of choice. Thus there has been a steady outpouring of concern over burgeoning “knife crime” in recent years. The Sun undertook a bit of investigative journalism to find out how easy it is to obtain knives illegally, and was shocked at the result: LETHAL swords, machetes and knives are being sold illegally to children — with no questions asked. Obama will release his budget this week, and we already know that he´s going to try to stake out a treacherous "middleground" as he attempts to cast himself as a bold centrist, willing to stand apart from leftist Democrats. He´ll do so by, reportedly, introducing a Chained CPI, which is a way of cutting Social Security by using a different inflation measure that won´t rise as much. Liberals are already livid. Congressman Jerry Nadler — who is part of the Democratic party´s Progressive Caucus — slammed the reports in a comment made on Friday: I am quite concerned by reports

While politicians talk about expanding background checks for gun owners, I’m starting to think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. The only problem is, that might leave us with a lot of vacancies in Congress and America’s statehouses. The debacle over New York’s rushed-through gun bill is one example of what happens when enthusiasm meets stupid. But another is to be found in Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), who supports a ban on full-capacity magazines without understanding what a magazine actually is. Last week, DeGette justified her position this way: “I will tell you these are ammunition,

Secretary of State John Kerry is worth some $200 million, give or take a yacht. So his decision to slap a 5% pay cut on himself in solidarity with government employees squeezed by sequestration won’t likely hurt him much. But he’s saving taxpayers another way, too — if unintentionally. And it’s downright troubling. How else is Kerry saving money? He’s failing to hire folks to fill key spots at his agency. Terrific. Think about it: With the North Koreans threatening nuclear strikes against America — and Kerry himself preparing to visit South Korea this week — wouldn’t it be a tad helpful

In March, the number of Americans who dropped out of the labor force increased by 663,000 which adds up to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer looking for employment. Zero Hedge reported: This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS did its census recast of the labor numbers. And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% - the lowest since 1979!But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda

Roman Catholic, Jesuit-affiliated Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington has refused to recognize the Knights of Columbus as an official student group because — wait for it — the Knights of Columbus is a Catholic organization. After 69 years, Newt Gingrich is wealthy, a celebrity, and the owner of a tony home in Northern Virginia. His place in the history books, as the leader of the Republican revolution, has long been established. But the former House speaker isn’t ready to fade away. “I don’t rule it out,” he said on Thursday over breakfast, when asked about a future presidential run. He spoke excitedly about his company, Gingrich Productions, and his upcoming trip to South Carolina, where he won the Republican primary last year. Gingrich’s unflagging energy isn’t surprising.

Going with his parental gut, President Obama applauded in 2011 when Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius barred girls under 17 from obtaining the morning-after pill without a prescription. He pictured 10- and 11-year-olds buying pregnancy prevention medicine as easily as bubble gum and drew a line. “As the father of two daughters, it makes sense to apply some common sense,” the President said. Now, a Brooklyn federal judge has ruled that moms and dads — including the ones in the White House — are owed no legal say over whether very young daughters can pop a hormonal contraceptive

It would take superspin powers to portray the March jobs report as anything other than a huge step in the wrong direction. The US economy added just 88,000 jobs last month, 95,000 in the private sector as public payrolls fell by 7,000. The official unemployment rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 7.6%. 1. That is a paltry number of jobs, more or less matching assumed labor force growth per month. So the economy must add at least that many jobs just to keep the labor market at current depressed levels.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
