RUSH: We have, of course, the gun control battle raging on. The status of the Republican Party, where are they today, where do they stand, what are their prospects? We have the New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, he condemned the NRA ad. Did you see that? Let me find the sound bite. I told the broadcast engineer we´re gonna start with Lance Armstrong, and I just decided we´re not. Now, I gotta find Chris Christie. There it is. Number one. Koko said don´t bother telling you that the website
Comments: Christie Kreme has never fooled me. He is a DemocRat trying to pass himself off as a Republican.
I won´t criticize Christie´s physical problem (over which he has limited control); I will criticize his priorities (over which he has full control). We should be able to help those impacted by Sandy without the burden of all the unrelated pork. He placed the parochial interests of his NJ constituents over those of the nation as a whole. While that might make him a good governor, it disqualifies him for POTUS.
I know this is mostly hypothetical for now but it´s the smart play. And maybe a wake up call for some of the Repubs in power nationally now. There´s a reason why there are no Republicans in Chicago. Republican leaders, you may think your safe but your gravy train days are numbered. You´re being fattened for the slaughter. You need to keep strengthening and supporting your base to survive not the opposite. If your base goes so does your deal making ability and all those great perks you have... Christie sees what´s going on, being from NJ he knows the Dems M.O. This isn´t like "the old days". I don´t think the "beltway" type Republicans realize how numbered their days are if they´re not careful. For the Dems it´s no-holds-barred in term two. The Fox news Whitehouse press briefings story is just a hint of whats to come if the Dems can get away with it. Christie is just being what he now has to be, a good big city pol.
I ask a much more important question: If it is Pantload Shrillery, who has the blood of our brave Seals in Benghazi on her hands, against Governor Pantload Christie who has the bigger pants size? Both of their pants could be used as a mainsail for a 250 foot yacht.
Gee... Ann Coulter´s Presidential Primary pick for the Republican party in the last election is a weight challenged closet Democrat who follows Obama around like a lap dog. It´s getting a little scary Ann, there is that relationship thing with super lefty Bill Maher in your past. Three strikes and you´re out.
The Republican Party already has enough Democrats in it. That fat, useless jackass Chris Christie can go straight to hell. So can Jeb Bush. If we can´t get a conservative candidate out of the GOP, it´s time to consign them to the dustbin of history and come up with something new.
Oh My another vicious thread. it would seem right now that being called a RINO would be better than being a far right Conservative (FRC.) So how can a simple Conservative who believes in financial control and the right to be born and live avoid the label that Conservative is a fickle childish status? Conservative used to mean stay the course and believe in the Constitution --now -- who knows? Go then and found a third party that will never win a national election. Obama will not overcome the Constitution to get a 3rd term but dems will not nominate anyone but black for many cycles their fate is set. Hillary will not be their nominee she isn´t black enough except in her heart. Biden is too old white useful idiot. Collin Powell a true affirmative action quasi republican would be the only crossover candidate.
Seems like Chris Christie blew his own National Political Future when he sucked up to Obama after ´Sandy´. He could probably be NJ Gov for life..But to run for national office...He seem to be sucking hind teat. He is nothing but an East Coast Liberal RINO.
When he first came on the scene, Christie was popular among conservatives because he wrangled the New Jersey budget back in line. Since then however, he´s shown himself to be a RINO, and he´s made quite a few bad decisions in comments he´s made and showing support on the wrong side. He acts like a know-it-all and how dare anyone criticize what he says and does. Therefore he will have a tough time running as a Republican - better go over to the Dems where he really belongs.
´Big data" is one name for the insight that collecting all the information in a massive database will uncover facts that collecting only some of the information cannot. This is not news to Gen. Keith Alexander, director of the National Security Agency. Gen. Alexander is a zealous advocate of getting it all whenever practically and legally possible. He sees increased agility in uncovering terrorist connections by acquiring vast databases of telephone records, including those of American citizens. Now the intelligence community´s big-data ambitions have prompted big privacy alarms. Edward Snowden´s reckless dump of top-secret documents and bizarre
Government: In a bid to make Americans do "what´s good for them," Obama administration social engineers have come up with a "Nudge" program to manipulate public choices. This won´t end well. ngbfAccording to a report by Fox News, the federal government is hiring a "behavioral insights team" to study ways to subtly influence citizen behavior through "choice architecture." The idea is the brainchild of former White House adviser Cass Sunstein and led by a 26-year-old White House aide who´s recruiting like-minded academics. On paper, the intentions might sound good to some. The claim is that by mastering the nudge, government can
Congressional investigators this week released emails suggesting that staff at the Federal Election Commission have been engaged in their own conservative targeting, with help from the IRS´s infamous Lois Lerner. This means more than just an expansion of the probe to the FEC. It´s a new link to the Obama team. In May this column noted that the targeting of conservatives started in 2008, when liberals began a coordinated campaign of siccing the federal government on political opponents. The Obama campaign helped pioneer this tactic. In late summer of 2008, Obama lawyer Bob Bauer took
Scandal: The former commander of special operations in North Africa says he, like our president, was incommunicado during the Benghazi attack. We may soon hear from the hero who survived 20 hours waiting for help. During the second wave of attacks on Benghazi, diplomatic security agent David Ubben was on the roof of the CIA annex with two former Navy SEALS. Eventually, several rounds of mortar attacks found their mark, killing Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty while shredding Ubben´s right leg. Ubben was stuck on that rooftop for 20 hours before help finally arrived. He can tell us and former
Does anyone read anymore? I mean, besides tweets from Anthony Weiner? During his otherwise excellent commentaries on race in America, Bill O´Reilly, host of the No. 1 cable news show, claimed on Tuesday night that the one person who tried to help African-Americans more than any other was ... Robert F. Kennedy! No one laughed. I guess that´s what they´re teaching these days at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. (I can´t wait to hear how Ted Kennedy helped eradicate drunk driving!) According to O´Reilly´s Bizarro-World history, Bobby Kennedy was "the guy who was really concerned about
Rush Limbaugh fielded a phone call the other day that even he couldn´t answer. "What´s happened to the country I live in?" asked the frustrated woman. "And what do we do now?" The Great Rushbo was understandably flustered. Coming up with a cure for what ails America after five years of Barack Obama and decades of bigger and stupider and meaner Big Government in D.C. is not something you can do off the top of your head. The woman´s question reminded me of a question Newt Gingrich posed to me about five years ago.
CNN has uncovered exclusive new information about what is allegedly happening at the CIA, in the wake of the deadly Benghazi terror attack. Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in the assault by armed militants last September 11 in eastern Libya. Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret. CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy
RUSH: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the first day of the 26th year of the Excellence in Broadcasting Network, a network named after the talent and ability of the host. That comment dedicated to all 24- and 25-year-old women. The door just opened (with staff entering). I thought we´d already done everything. It´s the 25th anniversary of the Excellence in Broadcasting. August 1st of 1988 is when this program began on a national scale. Thank you all very much. Ah, that is a gorgeous looking "macaroni" cake. That is gorgeous.
RUSH: Mary in Mountain Home, Arkansas, great to have you on the EIB Network. Hello. CALLER: Hello. My husband takes kidney dialysis and there´s a 12.3% cut be proposed and the center is not sure they can make it on that cut, and our local hospital, which is fabulous, possibly a closure in 2017, again, they´re not being fully reimbursed by Medicare. RUSH: Wait. Obamacare is supposed to fix that. CALLER: Well, it´s getting serious. You hear about like unemployment, you know, and you feel for those,
RUSH: To the phones, to Kansas City. Hey, Mark, I´m glad you waited. Great to have you on the program. Hello, sir. CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Hello. What an honor to actually be able to talk to you on this great anniversary. Congratulations on that. I just wanted to say, I graduated high school in 1992, and my job at the time was at a tool and dye company where I had to sweep metal shavings from one side of the warehouse to the other pretty much all day.
RUSH: Let´s go to the audio sound bites. The gross domestic product number is out. And, by the way, I don´t know what this is. There´s a new way of measuring the GDP. The Obama administration is measuring it in an entirely different way, which is showing growth. The standard measure of gross domestic product is showing flat. But this new measure, which the media is applauding and loving, is showing a growth rate of 1.7%, and it´s being hailed. The stock market earlier today was having a pretty good day.
RUSH: In one hour, we´re gonna have Utah Senator Mike Lee on the program to explain in detail and in an understandable way what he´s trying to do. As you know, Mike Lee is leading the effort to defund Obamacare in the United States Senate. The entire Republican establishment has aligned against him. Consultants, establishment bigwigs, party bigwigs, even some donors have aligned against him because they are convinced that attempting to defund Obamacare at the next negotiation, the end of September, on a continuing resolution will lead to a government shutdown,
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again. Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy. But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them. “They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine. That’s a long way from how Abedin
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In preparation for the release of Oscar-bait film The Butler, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and director Lee Daniels (Precious) sat down with Parade magazine. The film chronicles a butler (Whitaker) who works in the White House through seven administrations. Winfrey plays the butler’s wife. In the interview, Winfrey explained her sadness that so few Americans know about the history of the civil rights movement: “They don’t know diddly-squat. Diddly-squat.” She then said of the historic use of the n-word, “I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last
Colin Powell has admitted to exchanging ´very personal´ emails with a Romanian diplomat but denies having an affair with the much younger woman after a hacker threatened to release their intimate messages. The 76-year-old retired general told the Smoking Gun that he met Corina Cretu, 45, roughly 10 years ago when she was working as an assistant to the president of Romania. She is now a member of the European Parliament. ´After I left the Department of State in January 2005 we stayed in touch via email,´ he told TSG.
If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But
