WASHINGTON- Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton urged people to participate in service projects, saying there´s a chain of service that links generations of Americans from all across the country. Clinton is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. On Saturday she spoke at a summit on the National Mall for the National Day of Service. Clinton said she was inspired by the volunteer work of her grandmother, Dorothy Rodham, who began as a child volunteer teaching migrant workers English

These elite ivory-tower fools seem to be unaware that Americans are known for their volunteer service projects, which are ongoing and not dictated by our bogus leaders in Washington.

This hammering away at "service projects", done once a year, is tone-deaf and insulting. They are soooooo out of touch....

Service projects in their minds refer to Government sponsored with high paying management jobs.

I especially like her participation in ´Service ´ projects when she was in her 20´s.

Conservatives, unlike their liberal brethren, do not need to be told about service and charity. Their charitable donations are much higher than those of liberals, and I´m sure their donations in time are as well. Put a sock in it, and the cat too, "Chelsea." BTW, is Chelsea an old family name or a slum outside of Boston...

These are the same people who have armed guards, but do not think the ´little people´ should have guns. We just aren´t as important. AND we need to be told what to do.

Politicians are not our ´leaders´ or our friends. They are seekers (or users) of power. Once in power, they grant themselves special privileges, and scam wealth.

The people she is referring to are the very people Hillary has always held in disdain.
She looked down on the people in Arkansas and treated them with contempt. Chels grew up around this and the loathing of the unwashed masses probably has rubbed off on her.

It really rankles when the rest of us who have done community service and who have helped other people our whole lives through our churches and other organizations, are lectured to by the twit daughter of an impeached POTUS who believes she invented the concept of helping other people.

As for "service projects", that is what the State and Federal government is for. If they don´t have enough of our money to do that, then the project shouldn´t get done. Maybe if they´d cut some entitlements, they´d have enough money for these asinine "service projects" they think they invented.

Ignorant elitist know-nothings...

When we were children, our "service projects" consisted of raking leaves and shoveling snow at the elderly neighbors´ homes, and picking up the trash at the public parks when we went there. No one had to badger us to do it -- our parents called it building character.

Chelsea dear, perhaps you don´t understand that millions of Americans volunteer to help others on a regular basis, not just once or twice a year for a photo op. And we give not just of our time, but also help in any way we can. Do you, Michelle, the Bidens, give at least one day a week, every week, to perhaps sorting clothing at a thrift store, working in a soup kitchen or food bank, help someone learn to read; try it for a year and maybe then you can come back and urge us to participate in service projects.

Frankly my dear, you people make me sick.

Best friend is a far left guy, and he used to volunteer at a soup kitchen for about an hour a month.
He had the job of dishing out food, and he said it made him feel really good. But then one day a homeless man came through, with his genitals exposed. And my friend was troubled by the rule that no client was to be criticized or corrected for any reason.

So my friend quit volunteering there.

U.S. military assets in the Black Sea are on high alert amid reports Ukraine troops traded gunfire Tuesday with pro-Russian militants. A journalist with Associated Press reported intense gunfire at an airport in eastern Ukraine after the government sent in army troops to retake control from militiamen loyal to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The mayor of Kramatorsk told the Associated Press that Ukrainian troops have now occupied the military airport and are blocking its entrance. The action comes a day after the revelation a Russian fighter jetted buzzed a U.S.S. destroyer multiple times over the Black Sea.

House Democrats are rolling out a new strategy to target 30 House Republicans on immigration reform during the two-week congressional recess, marking a last-ditch effort to force GOP action on a legislative overhaul. The new pressure tactic includes a memo distributed to those 30 districts held by Republicans who have expressed public support for some sort of immigration reform, many of them backing a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants in the United States. Democrats hope the document — which highlights statements made by those Republicans in favor of reform, as well as data showing the district-specific economic

Scott Walker has a 16 point lead (56-40) among likely voters in his race for governor, according to a poll from Wisconsin Public Radio/St. Norbert’s. Among registered voters, his lead is essentially the same (55-40). The survey was conducted between March 24 and April 3. A Marquette University survey conducted between March 20-23 also showed Walker with a nice, though smaller, lead. In that poll, Walker outdistanced Democrat Mary Burke 48-41. Revealingly, Walker fares well in an electorate that does not seem particularly conservative and that, if anything, appears to be slightly to the left of American voters in general.

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
