Debt Reckoning: Destroying Myth
Of Government Default

Investor´s Business Daily, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:HollowLeg, 1/19/2013 2:22:58 AM

Budget Policy: Even if we don´t raise the debt ceiling, enough revenue will still come in to the Treasury to pay our interest, our bonds and essential services. The government will not shut down— only its ability to borrow. Like the fiscal cliff, the dangers of hitting the debt ceiling, while dire, are not necessarily fatal. It would, however, concentrate the minds of the American taxpayer wonderfully and force Washington to do what American families do every day around the kitchen table — take the paycheck and pay the bills in order

The government living within it´s revenues would work great until the first EBT card turned up insufficient funds.

I mean I´d pay a 100 bucks to see the look on the person´s face.

I´d like to know how much EBT money goes to buying candy, potato chips and ice cream for "hungry" people. And the first wife, Mookie, says she needs another giant $$$ program to deal with people who are too fat.

Political Correctness: A member of the U.S. Army Band says he´s being reprimanded for having the wrong bumper stickers on his car, serving politically incorrect food at a party and reading books by conservative authors. It seems what we read isn´t just a question reserved by the IRS for its "special scrutiny" of Tea Party groups. Apparently in the U.S. Army the wrong answer to this question can lead to disciplinary action and charges by your superiors. Master Sgt. Privacy: As long as we´re talking about leaks that should be prosecuted, let´s consider the leaking by the Environmental Protection Agency of the personal data about farmers to their environmentalist opponents. We saw such leaking of data compiled on one group to its political opponents in the IRS scandal. In that case, the IRS leaked the 2008 confidential financial documents of the National Organization for Marriage to the rival Human Rights Campaign. At that time, Joe Solmonese, a left-wing activist and Huffington Post contributor, was the president of the HRC. Solmonese also was a 2012 Obama campaign

So much for the administration calling the shootings "workplace violence." Our very national survival may soon be at risk. When President Barack Obama meets with Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first time on June 7-8 in California, we hope he will not bow but rather demand the Chinese stop their cyberwar against the U.S. that has reaped for them the designs for more than two dozen major weapon systems used by the U.S. military.

Government Overreach: The Internal Revenue Service official in charge of tax-exempt organizations when the unit targeted Tea Party groups now runs the IRS office responsible for enforcing ObamaCare. As bad as the IRS scandal was, with the taxing body of government using its unequaled authority to intimidate and harass the president´s political opposition to aid his re-election, it got worse with the news that the IRS official, Sarah Hall Ingram, who served as commissioner of the Tax-Exempt and Government Entities Division from 2009 to 2012, is now serving as director of the IRS´ Affordable Care Act division.

Employer spending on benefits rose at the slowest pace on record in the first quarter, as companies began bracing for higher health costs with next year´s launch of ObamaCare.Total benefits, such as insurance and pension contributions, rose just 0.1% vs. the end of last year, the smallest gain in Labor Department data going back to 2001. By comparison, payroll employment grew by a half-million, or 0.4%, in Q1. So benefits-per-worker declined. Total employee benefits provided outside of government jobs declined outright.

In the midst of the eruption of near-daily scandals involving the Obama administration, let us not forget that until just a few months ago, Hillary Clinton was the most significant persona within that administration besides the president himself. Let us not also forget that notwithstanding the scandal-grenades going off all around us, Mrs. Clinton diligently plans her run for the presidency, even while several of those scandals are obviously and entirely her responsibility, exposing the State Department during her tenure as an utter sewer of corruption, cronyism, and fatal incompetence.

Washington- Syria has crossed a "red line" with its use of chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin gas, against rebels, a move that is prompting the United States to increase the "scale and scope" of its support for the opposition, the White House said Thursday. The acknowledgment is the first time President Barack Obama´s administration has definitively said what it has long suspected -- that President Bashar al-Assad´s forces have used chemical weapons in the ongoing civil war. Over the years, I’ve read plenty of claims that we’re witnessing a “crackup” of liberals or conservatives (or sometimes both at the same time). Normally, I react by rolling my eyes. For me, “crackup” claims are a almost always hack way of expressing unjustified triumphalism. But now I think I see a crackup. Given the scandal-a-week Obama administration, you might think that the crackup, if any, is looming on the left. But that would be to ignore the left’s tendency to march more or less in lockstep through any scandal or storm. No, the crackup I see coming is among conservatives.

Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.” Bush said immigrants are an advantage that the United States has over China, Europe and Japan, which don’t have the same
