Dig in! The worst is yet

snow havoc looks set to

Keep those sledges and shovels at hand. We may already have had as much as ten inches of snow – but it seems things are only going to get worse. Snow and ice will continue to wreak havoc across the country for days, forecasters have warned, with conditions likely to become increasingly treacherous. After a day in which heavy snowfall closed schools and airports and caused gridlock across Britain, the Met Office warned that two more nights of freezing weather could make travel even more dangerous.By last night, motorways were impassable, airports had shut down, schools closed

I thought the Met Office official projection involved snowless winters? Or has that bit of climate change nonsense been dropped down the memory hole?

Thank you so much for posting these pics. I am from the Bristol and Bath area in the West of England and have traveled across the Clifton Suspension Bridge many times. And I lived in West London for a number of years. A walk around parts of London including Trafalgar Square was part of my weekend routine. The tiny bird on the branch looks frozen stiff, and the dog on the gate in Devon is simply adorable.

It was 2" of snow. Not even enough to warrant the use of a snow shovel, a stiff brush would suffice. Three years ago the Met (weather service) proclaimed that global warming effects meant that local councils did not need to buy road grit. Local councils did not buy road grit. Hillarity ensued. Now the met loudly proclaimed 2" of snow is a "red alert". Looking to reduce government spending? There might just be a bureaucratic white elephant that has become excess to needs.

These frigid winters across Russia,China and parts of Europe are signs the planet is desperately trying to cool itself off from reckless humans polluting the air.

The warmers probably have hot water bottles wrapped around world thermometers.

I guess the UK finally ran out of money and can´t afford to buy snow plows. Ten inches of snow is nothing here.

Once more unto the breech. . . .

The UK is composed of many winding roads which cannot be straightened (or leveled) because a significant number have been there since before the Roman Occupation, thus too many buildings, much of it historical property comprising homes and businesses, would be lost.

As winter storms with their high winds barrel into Britain, they sweep even a few inches of snow into deep snowdrifts. Hills and dales with many bends in the road form very dangerous courses for vehicles, including snow plows. If you´ve ever been in Little Rock during an ice storm followed by snow, that is what it´s like.

Washington -The Republican-led House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to delay for one year the tax penalty Americans will pay under President Barack Obama´s healthcare law if they decline to enroll in health coverage for this year. The measure passed by a vote of 250-160, with 27 Democrats joining with 223 Republicans to back the legislation. But the bill is expected to go nowhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate and would face a White House veto even if it succeeded. The vote, part of a Republican election-year attack strategy against the 2010 healthcare law known as Obamacare, marked the 50th time

It´s no surprise Obama is trying to gin up the base when Democrats take off their rose colored glasses and see his domestic and foreign policy failures. It´s about the money and the following excerpts from Roberta Rampton at Reuters helps makes the case. --- "It is one of 30 fundraisers the president plans to headline through June. He will attend two more on Wednesday in Boston." --- Remember that OFA now exists as a shadow DNC which sucks money as well as energy out of the Democrats by dividing resources. --- "You better hope Democrats stay in the Senate."

Lerner risks arrest if she is found in contempt of Congress. The House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee ruled on June 21, 2013 that Lerner, formerly in charge of the IRS´s Exempt Organizations office, waived her right to invoke the Fifth Amendment during a May 22 hearing when she insisted in a lengthy opening statement that she had done nothing wrong.
