Andrea Mitchell Confounded
By NRA´s ´Surprising´
Popularity in New Poll

A perplexed Andrea Mitchell on Thursday highlighted a new NBC poll finding high favorability numbers for the National Rifle Association, results she deemed "surprising." The veteran journalist proclaimed: "The NRA brand has been fairly toxic in many of the debates, the gun debates especially since Newtown, but their membership base is broad and deep." [See video below. MP3 audio here.] One reason the brand has been "toxic" is because of relentlessly negative coverage from reporters. Yet, NBC political editor Mark Murray explained, "Despite a lot of the criticism the NRA has received in the month after the Newtown shootings,

Mitchell is not a journalist. Journalists go dig up information and report what they find. Mitchell just spews her own opinions and prejudices as if they are fact, which they are not. So out of touch with America, might as well live on Mars.

I shake my head in wonder that individuals with such a lack of intellectual depth control our media. How can you even have a dialogue with such? A free press should keep the people informed. Instead, they withhold information that would be useful to the people. The ignorance displayed by most in the media is probably more responsible for 0bama´s election than anything else, IMO.

We need to prepare for an all out war on the NRA and should actively recruit new members. There is no doubt about it Obama and his flying monkeys are on the way.

The context for this little chestnut of racial nastiness was a heated floor debate in the Illinois legislature over a proposed education reform bill. (Snip) Art critics have pointed out that a number of the 30 portraits in the exhibition appear to be based on images thrown up by a cursory search of the person´s name in Google Images. In some cases the portrait seems to have been based on the very first image result on the search engine. Rather remarkably, even the portrait of his own father, someone who he surely could have asked to sit for him, appears to be based on an Associated Press portrait which appears on the first page of

Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle. Michael Parker and Flora Chang, at Sanford Bernstein, say we entering a new order of "global energy deflation" that must ineluctably erode the viability of oil, gas and the fossil fuel nexus over time.
