| A federal grand jury charged former Mayor Ray Nagin Friday with 21 counts including bribery, conspiracy to deprive citizens of honest services, money laundering, wire fraud and filing false tax returns, alleging that while in office, Nagin took cash bribes and gifts from two city contractors. Nagin´s long-expected indictment arrived more than two and a half years after he left City Hall and relocated to the Dallas area. Two businessmen, Frank Fradella and Rodney Williams, have both pleaded guilty to paying bribes to the mayor — who was listed in earlier court documents as "Public Official A" — in exchange for

All these crooked black mayors were endorsed by their local papers over and over again. Detroit Free Press endorsed Kwayme twice even though a blind man could see he was totally corrupt. Now Detroit is spending many millions to "bring him to justice" again. He was fined 850K at his last conviction and ordered to pay $500 per month. That means he will be 193 years old at his last payment and the purchasing power of the dollar will be less than a penny. Some justice.

I believe Mr Nagin´s family "relocated to the Dallas area" somewhere around mid-2005.
Oh, and the word "Democrat" appears nowhere in the article. Congrats to the NOLA paper for their strict adherence to the AP Style Manual which prohibits identification of Democrat party miscreants (although any connection, albeit slight, to a Republican, conservative or Bible-believing Christian must be prominently noted).

New Orleanians have been waiting for this day for a long, long time. Those who voted for him the first time did so because they believed him to be an honest business man. His second election was won dishonestly, by allowing people to vote by fax, etc. After Katrina, everyone who remained in New Orleans wanted him gone.

Buried is fact that ACORN´s headquarters and Wade Rathke were both located in NO. This was a coordinated Lieberal attack on GWB. The deaths in NO were due to Nagins failure to evacuate city-he was afraid he would lose his Base. Press covered for him. Stealing from the children. Now that he is gone they are learning in new Charter Schools that the union thugs are trying to kill.

Let see he is a far left liberal democrat from one of the most corrupt cities in the nation and you say he took bribes, WHAT A SURPRISE, I am astounded, what a surprise. The bigger surprise of course is that the propaganda media is reporting it; I mean he is a Democrat.
I wonder how much he made of the New Orleans free money government money run provided by his fellow corruptocrats in DC, the whole time telling us how bad it was in the 9th ward, even after refusing to evacuate the area and of course blame it on Bush.
Eric Holder (Head of the Cesspool) will not prosecute "his kind" remember, or maybe the incompetent will just bury it like the deportation of Obama´s aunt and uncle until quieter time to cover it up.

#18, while people in New Orleans were still searching for the bodies of their loved ones, while people were living in tents and moldy houses and bunking with friends and family (not even toxic trailers at that point), Nagin was in Dallas with his wife and children, buying a comfortable house for them to live in. That was before Thanksgiving, as I recall, when he then took his family for a vacation in a Sandals Resort while New Orleanians had very little to be thankful for.
Nobody knew that Nagin was solaking up the sun at the Sandals resort in Jamaica until I chanced upon an article in a Jamaican newspaper that noted his arrival. Nagin´s sponsor for that second of two trips turned out to be Greg Meffert of NetMethods (a city contractor, as I recall)--and it cost him around $6500. I expect that´s in the indictment too.
Where was the first trip?
Hawaii.

Welcome to the New Orleans cesspool. Home of the Bribe-ors, and the Bribe-ees. This has been going on in N.O. for over a century, so why didn´t the Feds go after this during the last 100 years? Was it because Katrina shed a spotlight that could not be bribed away? Or maybe Dubya´s on his horse now? Whatever it is, stay tuned, because thousands of roaches are probably running from the spotlight. Should be fun.

Augusta, Ga. — The usual crowd at the putting green at Augusta National had turned to face the wrong direction, toward the outdoor dining area adjacent to the old clubhouse. Usually, this is a sign that golf royalty is nearby. And, sure enough, there he was: Arnold Palmer, the four-time Masters winner, wearing in his green jacket and looking over a menu that he has probably seen a thousand times. He already has his beverage. He is drinking an Arnold Palmer. We will have a full week to debate questions pertaining to this tournament. Will Tiger Woods finally break his major

New York — Cookie Monster stands accused of shoving a 2-year-old. Super Mario was charged with groping a woman. And Elmo was booked for berating tourists with anti-Semitic slurs. Times Square is crawling with entrepreneurs who dress up as pop-culture characters and try to make a few bucks posing for photos with visitors to the big city. But some of these characters are unlike anything you´ve seen on "Sesame Street" or at Disney World. They smoke, they use foul language, and they can be aggressive. In an interview with KCBS radio broadcast on Monday, Oakland’s mayor said the following: For the last 2 months, violence in Oakland has been way down. It seems to come in these spurts. So like for six weeks there had been no murders east of High Street in East Oakland. Problem is, there have been seven homicides east of High Street over the past six weeks,

More importantly for the November 2013 season finale in Pensacola, their practices in October are canceled too. New York — As many doctors struggle to keep their practices financially sound, some are buckling under money woes and being pushed into bankruptcy. It´s a trend that´s accelerated in recent years, industry experts say, with potentially serious consequences for doctors and patients. Some physicians are still able to keep practicing after bankruptcy, but for others, it´s a career-ending event. And when a practice shuts its doors, patients can find it harder to get the health care they need nearby. Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings by physician practices have spiked recently, noted Bobby Guy, co-chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute´s

The presentation also warned that members of the military are prohibited from taking leadership roles in any organization the Pentagon considers ´extremist,´ and from distributing the organization´s literature, whether on or off a military installation. The opening slide warns that ´the rise in hate crimes and extremism outside the military may be an indication of internal issues all [armed] services will have to face.´

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....

More than six months since Ambassador Christopher Stevens was assassinated by terrorists in Benghazi, the Obama administration is still trying to keep a lid on information about the attack. Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered.
