I agree about the women, #1, but I admit to a fascination about how polygamy works. Or doesn´t work. My impression is that it presents men with adolescent fantasies a perfect world. What female with any self-esteem would subject herself to it? At least the Browns seem to support themselves, unlike the Jeffs bunch.

You shouldn´t do this unless all particpants are of the same sex ,,er,,,, gender. That way, no one is allowed even comment on it.

Polygamy in Africa is about putting all the wives to work and then enjoy retirement.

Allowing homos to marry leads to multiple partners and other species marriages. Besides, it has been a long road to properly train one wife to put up with my personality. I cannot imagine trying to train multiple wives...

The problem I have with this is the way it´s practiced in southern Utah, pedophilia is involved. Underaged girls are "assigned" as brides to middle-aged men. Utah so far has not put a stop to this practice. For some reason, they´re too afraid to rock the boat there the way Texas did when the same group tried to settle there. In rather short order, Texas convicted the So. Utah group´s leader of raping a twelve-year-old. Since the group had actually recorded the rape, calling it a "marriage ceremony", it shouldn´t be too difficult for Utah authorities to find this evidence in the group´s temples in the south part of their state. Why they don´t is something I´ll never understand, but thank God for Texas justice.

I never intended to watch Sister Wives but I do. They are a good family and the kids are so well behaved - all 17 of them.

However, Kody does have an ego the size of Texas. I couldn´t take him for long. I never see him do any actual work. He just shows up at each home and waits to be fed and cared for.

The Brown women are far from mistreated. They are all outspoken. The only problem that most of us see is Kody has fallen hard for wife # 4 and it has caused chaos in the family with wives 1, 2 and 3.

While polygamy seems to work for these people, laws protecting the practice would just open up the possibility to more Warren Jeffs. That´s scary. I really don´t see any successful solution here but if it´s done on a case by case basis, the Browns do it right.

Now if they would all just shack up without benefit of clergy, their lifestyle would be celebrated from coast to coast.

Running this through the Federal courts isn´t about Utah or Mormons. It´s about islame. Saudi overlords will not wish to be stationed here until this is resolved. Once this is settled, they can begin the placement of Wahhabi Gauleiters.

If homosexuals are allowed to marry, legally, there really is no sound argument to prohibit a man from practicing bigamy.
(Right now, the penalty for bigamy is --- two wives.) (That´s a joke.)

Well well well. The gay agenda has changed the tone of all discussions about marriage. The morality of ´good´ people now includes gay, multiple, and next...pedophilia. All are good in the eyes of many. The government has no business? So anything goes? We are fascinated with reality tv of multiple wives. gays, honey boo boo...but Palin? Only she deserves bashing for her tv show, right SC? It might seem impossible but man/boy or girl/man or boy/woman etc is next. Will posters be fascinated and libertarian about that? We are certainly a changed people. Changed to enjoy anything that entertains us. And, we call it ´educating´ ourselves about other equal cultures or practices. Sick.

Scalia was right. and i believe Rick Santorum was mocked for understanding standing the implications of recent supreme court ruling would mean preventing polygamy would be unconstitutional if preventing gay marriage is unconstitutional

maybe the supreme court role will need need to be redefined in the constituion is if it overturns California´s ban on gay marriage

If Kody Brown and the women were to convert to Islam, this would be a non-issue.

It´s only a small step from gay marriage to plural marriages.

When the legally accepted definition of marriage was no longer limited to one man and one woman is so many places, that was the beginning of the slipperly slope.

While we in sane places like Texas would say that polygamy is sick and sinful, it´s hard for people in places that allow for ´´homosexual marriage´´ to say anything. The same arguments about ´´homosexual marriage´´ being consenting adults applies equally to pretty much any other warped and perverse combination that doesn´t involve minor children.

Polygamy, siblings, parents and their adult children, etc, etc -- all equally ´´valid´´ (and perverse and disgusting) as ´´homosexual marriage´´. But once our society goes over that slippery slope, we aren´t coming back!!!
