Chris Christie Slams ‘Reprehensible’
NRA For ‘Dragging People’s Children’
Into Gun Control Debate

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie slammed the National Rifle Association’s latest ad in which they accuse President Barack Obama of hypocrisy for sending his children to a school where they are protected by armed guards. Christie called the ad “reprehensible” and said that the NRA should not be “dragging people’s children” into the gun control debate. (Snip) "I think any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe,” Christie said on Thursday at a news conference in Trenton. “I’m a father who is a public figure, who has

Comments:
The whole point of that NRA ad was to state that all children deserved protection, not just the elitist 0bama. Christie should be smart enough to figure that out. I must have missed the part where he said it was reprehensible for 0bama to drag children onto the stage yesterday. s/o I´m so tired of Republicans behaving like this. I hate to give them credit, but Democrats do stick together, no matter what.

Obama is the one who keeps dragging other people´s kids into the argument!!! Geez! Obama is exploiting the children. Christie has turned out to be a big FAT traitor and total disappointment. Why doesn´t he go join Crist and Specter and become a Demonrat??

Ah, the moderate quisling Chris Christie desperately tries to do more of the Democrats dirty work for them. The Democrats were the first to invoke dead children in their cause. We all know this. I have enjoyed watching this darling of the republican moderates go down in flames.

Christie must have missed Obama´s TV appearance yesterday as he high-fived four children during his gun control presentation

Christie is moving down on my list of candidates for 2016. He is turning into a white Colin Powell.

No. What´s reprehensible(other than you Christie) is someone surrounding themselves with children while announcing "executive actions", purely for political optics. If hussein could have gotten away with it, he would have postponed the funerals of the 20 kids and surrounded himself with their bodies.

Reply 7 - Posted by: psych53, 1/17/2013 9:36:54 PM     (No. 9123282)

The media and the dems have no answer to Obama and other elites, getting special treatment for their children, so their only answer is to "kill the messenger." For the record, I think that a president´s children should have secret service protection. But don´t try to manipulate us into thinking that armed protection is not appropriate for the average neighborhood school.

"I think it demeans them and it makes them less of a valid trusted source of information on the real issues that confront this debate.”

Absolutely, Gov. Christie. The NRA is trying to dig a deep hole for the Republican party. They may not be doing it on purpose...but they certainly are doing it.

I do believe Christie has reached his limit in elective office. No way this emerging RINO gets the Rebublican nomination.

Think about Christie and his ilk like this. When a person is diseased and has big scabs on their body, ripping one open suddenly makes them bellow senselessly. He caused the wound and blames US for trying to clear it up. [[Oh, and 0bama don´t "care" about the causalities he creates around him].

Didn´t this whole debate start because of children ?

Why would the first children be any better than any American child ? Ask the parents in Newtown how precious their babies were to them.

I notice Zippy and the Wookie choose children by color for their photo opps.
For sympathy they pick white kids. If they go to a school, it´s black kids.

If Christie is the R nominiee for 2016, any Democrat including, but not limited to Hillary, Michelle Obama, Biden, Reid, Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd (Sp?), Matt Damon, Eva Longoria, Justin Bieber (from Canada), Spike Lee or any other alive or dead Democrat will win.

I think the NRA blew the ad by bringing in the secret service since I always understood that the Sidwell Friends School was patrolled by armed guards before the Obama spawn started there. That information would be more to the point than the protection of just the president´s kids by the secret service. That is expected and necessary.

Last night maybe the night before the Fox all-stars unanimously condemned the NRA ad. That included Dr. K. and the usually reliable Steven Hayes. These are smart guys. Why can´t they and other conservatives see the point of the NRA ad? They let the left get away with changing the subject to Secret Service protection for the President´s children, which no one disagreees with. On topic the school where obama´s children and david gregory´s children attend employs 11 going on 12 armed guards, separate and in addition to the SS. The NRA cited obama´s obvious hypocrisy when he rejected a suggestion to post armed guarda in public schools and even conservatives attack them.

The stock in Chris Christie has plummeted. I don´t like the way he smooshed with Obama during the hurricane, and I don´t like how he´s so willing to back pork laden bills out of Congress, and I don´t like the way he is so one sided on the gun propaganda. Certainly, the NRA, which I am a lifetime member, was unwise to make such a melodramatic presntation as this recent offering. And I wish the NRA would hire some professional consultants before they put their foot in their mouth, but the fact remains that politicians, as well as members of the press, send their kids to schools protected by gun toting guards.

It will indeed be interesting if Coulter continues to support Christi despite his Republican-bashing of late.

I liked Christie at one point, despite some questionable opinions. Now, he is poison to me. Schmoozing with Obama and Republican- basing have taken the shine off his prospects.

I know he likes to tell it like it is, that he is gruff, that he can be in your face; what I´ve recently come to realize is that his ego, like himself, is outsized. One thing I liked about Romney is that he is by all accounts a modest man who had trouble blowing his own horn during the campaign.

Christie has become a self-promoter; I no longer like him or trust him; he has blown his chance for the 2016 nomination with conservatives like me.

These Republican politicians, including Christie, and pundits could not be as dim as they seem. Or, could they?

Predictably, they bought the feint - hook, line, and sinker. It is simply absurd to take the NRA ad as an attack on Obama´s kids. It is nothing of the sort. No disparaging words were directed at the kids. They were not slighted, demeaned, or even mentioned by name. But, Carney came out snd accused - and they immediately accepted his premise.

Barack Obama is dragging people´s children into the debate.

Barack Obama is also personally responsible for deliberately selling weapons to the world´s most violent drug gangs. Thanks to Obama, more than three-hundred Mexican citizens are dead, as well as three American law enforcement officers.

Maybe Chris Christie should just shove another deep-dish pizza in his fat face, and shut the hell up for a change.

Yes, he is a hippo...a hippo-crite!! But seriously, I think Christie shoots his mouth off first and thinks later. He has a short attention span just like the demonrats. At any rate, if anyone truly has a problem with the ad (aside from political differences), then you probably don´t understand the point nor have you seen how Zero and the Dems have shamelessly used people´s children to manipulate the public opinion. That wasn´t what the NRA did, however. They were simply making the point that ALL children deserve to be safe--not just the children of the elite.

Reply 51 - Posted by: Spidey, 1/18/2013 4:04:27 AM     (No. 9123529)

People on the left can say over the top shocking things all they want ad get away with it.

The NRA has said 2 things since the shooting. Security guards at schools and why are Obama´s kids more valuable than others.

Regardless of whether either of these is properly and PC tested, they´re going to hit the logic side of the brain among most people, although it might take time to sink in.

Schools are going to push for guards, cops whatever because the parents will demand it.

I know this sounds crazy but Christie trying to be a glory hog may be doing the NRA a favor by bringing more attention to what they said.People will dig into it because of the controversy and ask themselves "hey you know what my kids are as important as Obama´s".

The left is always going to go Alinsky on a detractor. The NRA is signing up thousands of new members out of simplistic thinking.

You´re never going to win the war of emotion on the left because they have no rules. You have to penetrate the logical side of people´s brains in an uncomplicated way.The NRA has hit 2 home runs on this.

Federal and state law prohibits publication of information acquired through secret recording, but a 2001 Supreme Court ruling gives publishers like Mother Jones a get-out-of-jail-free card. But whoever taped the private conversation can’t wiggle off the hook so easily. Whoever bugged the meeting room or secretly placed a recording device will be in serious legal trouble — unless he or she was one of the strategists.

Santorum had been invited to deliver a upcoming speech on leadership by the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Gross Pointe South High School. But the speech was canceled on Monday after the school district’s superintendent heard from angry teachers. “It’s a sad day when liberal educators are allowed to influence young minds – extending free speech rights only to those who share their liberal views,” Santorum said

President Obama´s push to pass stricter gun control laws will cost Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Wednesday. "I think the president has shown he is willing to demagogue an issue and that it is ultimately going to backfire," Cruz said in an interview on Laura Ingraham´s radio show. Cruz´s comments come as Congress debates passing a set of gun control measures meant to reduce gun violence and prevent shooting massacres similar to the one at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Lisa Jackson, the former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, told an audience at Princeton University politics are to blame for the uproar over her “Richard Windsor” alias email account, but she wishes she had chosen a less-obscure name for the account. Jacob Reces, former head of Princeton’s College Republicans, asked Jackson during a talk on Tuesday if she regretted using the alternate email account, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger. Using two email accounts for work isn’t a new practice, and was also done under President Bush, Jackson said.

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, one of the towering architects of Obamacare, on Tuesday openly criticized program managers for not moving quickly enough to build the system, warning that if it gets off to a bumpy start it will just get worse. Decrying the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as way too complex, he warned the acting Medicare director that Obamacare is "so complicated and if it isn´t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse."

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Although the first votes on gun -control legislation have yet to be cast, by some measures the National Rifle Association has already won. Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

Liberals descended on Pennsylvania Avenue Tuesday to protest President Barack Obama´s decision to include entitlement cuts in his upcoming budget, delivering 2 million petitions demanding the White House back off its support for the chained CPI. As we reported this weekend, liberals have been seething over the inclusion of the chained CPI in Obama´s budget, which they see as a huge betrayal by the Democratic president. This week, progressive groups, including MoveOn, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, and Democracy for America, have mounted "emergency" online campaigns against the proposal, accusing Obama of

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius conceded Monday that implementing the Affordable Care Act has been more complicated and frustrating than the Obama administration expected, largely due to Republicans who have opposed the law´s state-based exchanges and Medicaid expansion. "The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"

In a stunning end to one of the most aggressively unsuccessful tenures in retail history, JCPenney (JCP) last night announced that CEO Ron Johnson would be leaving effective immediately. Myron Ullman, Johnson´s predecessor at JCPenney, takes office as CEO. When Johnson was initially wooed by JCPenney, it was to serve as CEO with Ullman as Chairman. In January 2012, Ullman was unceremoniously removed from the board. Gone with Ullman was any control the Board of Directors had over Ron Johnson and his control of JCPenney resources.
