Eric Pickles is a gem. I´ve never seen TOWIE (it´s never seen me, either); I believe it´s about the equivalent of Dallas in popularity. And while Mr. Pickles includes a bit of humor in his message he´s after solving a problem we know all too well.
Having been a volunteer teaching English to Vietnamese boat people, there is great joy in watching someone "get it." Go volunteer--you can subtly teach conservative thinking as you teach; you could make lemonade out of those lemons being forced upon us. (This does NOT constitute approval of more immigration.)

I wonder, OP, how many of those Asian immigrants come here to live off government largess? Those I know, which amounts to a goodly number, are mostly hard-working people.

From Wikepedia(sp): The Only Way Is Essex is a British BAFTA award-winning television show based in Essex, England. It shows´´real people in modified situations, saying unscripted lines but in a structured way´´. The show is filmed just a few days in advance.
I don´t know who began these reality shows, Britain or the U.S. but I am sure I wouldn´t like it.
All immigrants should learn the language of the country they go to. Of course I didn´t when I moved to Hong Kong, but that was because 95% of the people I was in contact with spoke English. English people are bad about that.
