Got those second-
inauguration blues

Washington Post, by Ruth Marcus

Original Article

The reviewing stands are up, the buildings festooned with bunting. But on the eve of President Obama’s second inauguration, Washington’s mood feels more somber than celebratory, even for those who wanted to see Obama reelected. The thrill of 2008 has yielded to the frustration of 2012. This inauguration represents the triumph of experience over hope. Perhaps the sense of letdown is unavoidable. The second time is never as exciting. A presidency on the doorstep of a first term is promise unmarred by performance. A reelected president arrives with baggage and scars

FTA: Still, the gap between thrill and deflation feels particularly yawning this year. Not because Obama had a failed first term — he didn’t, not in my assessment and not, I think, by any objective measure.

Ruth, please - get off your knees - the neighbors are watching, and they´re beginning to talk.

I wonder if the mall in downtown DC will be littered with as much garbage as after 0 first inaugural. Contrast with the Tea Party demonstration where they left the mall as clean as a whistle.

The media and the left concocted and presented obama as some god-like figure who could transform the country into a panacea by sheer force of will. There may still be a lot of enthusiastic Obama supporters that are beginning to doubt his methodology on getting things done. It´s always about payback with Obama, rewarding his supporters and punishing his enemies aka. honest Americans.

Most obama supporters were looking for some variation of a free ride through life at someone else´s expense. They´ve built up this unfairness narrative between the haves and have nots that needs to be fixed with government intervention..Obama cronies are bankrolling this inauguration repudiating the fact that he´s some sort of man of the people.Obama is about Obama and using proxies and stooges to get his way.

There´s no way Obama is smart enough to dismantle this country brick by brick. He has to have an army of fellow American haters advising him along the way.

Only someone as empty and shallow as obama would go along with these devious plans. To some people like Soros this is some sort of board game, just to satisfy his own arrogance.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Malaysia´s prime minister said he believes that "deliberate action" caused the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU +2.13% Flight 370, and authorities are now focusing on two areas in the search for the plane. In the first definitive comments from the nation´s government on how the jet came to vanish March 8, Najib Razak said at a news conference Saturday that data relayed by the plane to a satellite has confirmed it turned from its original course. He added that the last satellite communication from the plane was at 8:11 a.m. Malaysia time, well past the scheduled arrival time

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Investigators have concluded that one or more people with significant flying experience hijacked the missing Malaysia Airlines jet, switched off communication devices and steered it off-course, a Malaysian government official involved in the investigation said Saturday. No motive has been established and no demands have been made known, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media. The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. "It is conclusive," he said. He said evidence

Someone who is determined to disbelieve something can manage to disregard an Everest of evidence for it. So Barack Obama will not temper his enthusiasm for increased equality with lucidity about the government’s role in exacerbating inequality. In the movie “Animal House,” Otter, incensed by the expulsion of his fraternity, says: “I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture.” Such thinking gives us minimum-wage increases that do very little for very few. Meanwhile, there are farm bills, like the one Obama signed last month at Michigan State University. MSU was one of the models for

A week into the fruitless search for a missing Malaysian airliner, the focus returned to the possibility that a rogue pilot or hijackers took command of the plane as it flew north over the sea toward Beijing. That fear hinged on the erratic behavior of the plane after it stopped sending radar signals and an indisputable fact: Despite an exhaustive search of the waters that straddle Malaysia and farther into the Indian Ocean, no trace of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 has been found. “It’s looking less and less like an accident,” said a U.S. official who spoke on the

The bizarre movement to “ban” the word “bossy” because it allegedly stigmatizes girls struck many people as ridiculous. But on consideration, it is something far more sophisticated and sinister than mere feminist hyperventilating. Hillary Clinton faces an image problem, and the deep thinkers on her propaganda team know it. In a debate during the 2008 primary campaign, Barack Obama alluded to it when he called her “likable enough,” a backhanded compliment/slap that stung. The president of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council challenges critics of President Obama’s Ukraine policy by saying, “What are you going to do, send the 101st Airborne into Crimea?” Not exactly subtle. And rather silly, considering that no one has proposed such a thing. The alternative to passivity is not war but a serious foreign policy. For the past five years, Obama’s fruitless accommodationism has invited the kind of aggressiveness demonstrated by Iran in Syria, China in the East China Sea and Russia in Ukraine. But what’s done is done. Put that aside. What is to be done now?

Fertility is the missing chapter in sex education. Sobering facts about women’s declining fertility after their 20s are being withheld from ambitious young women, who are propelled along a career track devised for men. The refusal by public schools’ sex-education programs to acknowledge gender differences is betraying both boys and girls. The genders should be separated for sex counseling. It is absurd to avoid the harsh reality that boys have less to lose from casual serial sex than do girls, who risk pregnancy and whose future fertility can be compromised by disease. Boys need lessons in basic ethics and moral reasoning

US officials believe that two communications systems aboard Malaysian Airlines flight 370 were shut down separately, 14 minutes apart - which indicates the plane did not come down because of a sudden catastrophic failure. The data reporting system was shut down at 1.07 am and the transponder was turned off at 1.21 am just after the the pilot signed off to Malaysian air traffic controllers with ´All right, good night,´ and before the Boeing 777 apparently changed course and turned west.
