| White House Press Secretary Jay Carney announced this afternoon that President Obama will unveil a “concrete package” of gun control proposals including assault weapons bans, high capacity ammunition magazine bans, and closing loopholes on background checks. Carney said that the president will be joined by Vice President Joe Biden as well as children who wrote to the president after the Newtown shootings. “They will be joined by children around the country expressing their concerns about gun violence and school safety, along with their parents,” Carney confirmed. President Obama specifically mentioned children during his

Comments: These people are just beyond anything I have ever seen in my lifetime. 0bama and his regime have taken political hypocrisy and shamelessness to a level never seen before. The only thing missing from this charade is the parents of those who lost children at Sandy Hook. Don´t think they wouldn´t parade them around if they could. In the meantime, they are destroying the freedoms of every American in this country. Some of them are too stupid to know it.

How about bring in rfk´s children and grandchildren. Remember he was killed with .22 short revolver. Are those little weapons to be banned too? How about James and Sarah Brady? I´m sure they are available as props.

Will all these children and their parents be flown in to DC aboard the fleet of government Gulfstream jets? Will they be quartered at DC hotels? If so, it will be a very expensive propaganda opportunity.

By the way - when these children become adults, how will they be able to defend themselves?

What a vile person he is. He´s goading violence on purpose. The Democrats aren´t content to be awash in the blood of those murdered in "gun free zones", they want war right her in our own land.
Remember all the questionable things Lincoln did during the Civil War? This is exactly what they want.

Another Alinsky tactic. The left has been doing this for years. Hillary tried the same thing with her healthcare debacle, I recall a few of the kid´s and their parent´s were exposed as frauds. 0bama has used props throughout his career/campaign. He never gets called on it by the MSM. The left is morally bankrupt, manipulative and condescending. He only plays to the dummies.

Straight out of the Soviet Union, Communist China, North Korea, and Cuba propaganda playbook to use children as props.
Anyone out there care to argue that Obama and his fellow democrats aren´t hard core communists whose goal is impose a totalitarian rule over this country?
Obama seems bent on fomenting revolt and a second Civil War. Where are the Republicans in Congress. As some point they have to stand up, regardless of the media consequences, and act like true patroiots, whatever the cost.

The GOP ought to strap on a pair and use the same tactic for the millions and millions of fatherless children exposed to poverty due to the left´s institutionalization of the welfare state and thousands of children murdered by urban street gangs which are the result of those same policies. America needs a leader to fight this scum.

There is nothing wrong with having children on the stage. Every president or candidate in the television age has had proponents or beneficiaries of proposed legislation on the stage.
He is not calling for a total gun ban, in spite of the screams of some gun advocates. He has the right to ask for legislation regarding assault weapons and high capacity magazines. He may or may not have the votes to get it, but he absolutely has the right to ask Congress for such legislation.
As for closing loopholes on background checks, why would anyone oppose that? It never made any sense that you had to pass a background check to purchase a weapon from seller A, but you didn´t have to pass one to purchase same weapon from seller B. Or, you could lie on your background check application and no one would pay any attention (a loophole that has put guns into the hands of felons many a time).
The Second Amendment, in its reference to a well-ordered militia, clearly was not intending to promote unlimited guns for known criminals or psychotic individuals. Nothing well-ordered there.

With a population of 360 million people, the number of nuts will grow. Obama has NO right to punish the many for a few. Obama has no right to violate the Constitution. Keep and bear arms is pretty clear to me. At the time those words were written, citizens had the same weapons as the regular army. Citizens should be armed to protect against a tyrannical gov´t..water pistols wouldn´t work.

Why would anyone oppose universal background checks? When the intent is not ´background checks´ but to be able to locate every single gun in the U.S. If they know exactly who has what, it is much easier to confiscate them. That´s the real intent of the government. To get the background check, you have to tell them the buyer´s name, address, SSN, type of gun & serial number. You think all of that is ´forgotten´ by the checker? If so, you live in a very simple universe.

How about someone in the WH Press Pool pose this question: "Mr. President, between 2006 and 2012, the average number killed resulting from gun violence was 114 children. Would you like to comment on the over one million children who were killed last year as a result of abortions?" Any WH Press reporter who asks that question will never report on the WH again, but that individual will forever be remembered for standing up to this absolute empty suit, lying poor excuse for a human being who thinks he´s the government who rules all, including peoples´ religious beliefs.

I can´t speak for Olivia Harrison, George´s wife but I wonder if she wished her and George had a gun when they were broken into in England. In the early 90´s a crazed guy with a knife entered George´s home and stabbed him repeatedly as Olivia hit the intruder with whatever she could get her hands on. By law if the did have a gun and shot the guy, they would be the ones in trouble. That´s where we´re headed.

Parents who allow their children to be used as political show ponies are unfit for the role. If your ideas require props then they are not strong ideas to begin with.
#17 provides some levity in the mischaracterization of the NRA and gun owners´ positions as well as a misstatement of what the president and his star chamber intend. Hint: legislation i.e. proper law-making isn´t a part of it.
These background check loopholes simply don´t exist but they seem to be a bottomless honey trap for people who want to sound intelligent about the subject.
#17, if you are going to be that dense about the Second Amendment´s purpose and context, do yourself a favor and quit while you´re behind.
It´s not complicated. The Bill of Rights is devoted to protecting the individual from government. Only the gullible believe that the Framers would write down the First Amendment, veer off towards conscription for national defense in the Second, then return to individual rights for the rest of the document. No, the Second is about resistance against tyranny just as the Fifth, Fourth and others are. Parsing its language is a diversionary tactic, nothing more.

#17 is wrong of course. The 2nd ammendment is there to defend against tyranny. It´s purpose is to intimidate government. Accodding to James Madison the "Militia" mentioned in the 2nd ammendment is the "people" as a whole. The 2nd amendment is there to defend all the other ammendments and the constitution itself. Once Barry Soetoro was allowed to get away with his ineligibility the socialists knew they could do anything they want. a.k.a. tyranny. I hope and pray it doesn´t happen but we could very well be headed for civil war.

A spokesperson for the Broadcasting Board of Governors told Fox News that Pfleger’s office has been notified that his invitation to address the group has been rescinded. “This is an event that is meant to celebrate inclusiveness and diversity,” spokesperson Lynne Weil told Fox News. “It was deemed by our senior management that it was not appropriate to have him as a speaker.”

Religious liberty groups are mobilizing to defend the chaplain of George Washington University’s Newman Center after gay students launched an effort to have the priest fired because he preaches against homosexuality and abortion. “It’s discrimination against Catholics,” said Patrick Reilly, president of the Cardinal Newman Society. “Secular colleges are fast becoming a very unsafe place for Catholics who hold true to their faith. This is a very, very sad situation.” Two gay students at George Washington told the GW Hatchet student newspaper that they want Father Greg Shaffer removed from campus

White House press secretary Jay Carney on Thursday defended President Obama´s fundraising swing through California, saying that despite "rhetoric from the other side" critical of the president, his push on behalf of Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was "a traditional exercise." "I think it’s important to note that -- because you’ve seen a lot of rhetoric from the other side suggesting that there is something wrong with that -- that Republican leaders in the House and the Senate have been out raising money for Republican candidates;

One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. The wrong name, he warned, could doom a good bill. “If there´s not a

In a revelation that may have Colorado voters rethinking their state’s push on gun control, court documents revealed that the mass shooting in Aurora that killed 12 and injured 70 more could have been prevented by law enforcement. The psychiatrist for suspect, James Holmes, had warned campus police that Holmes was dangerous and homicidal a month before the shooting took place. Lynne Fenton even told the police that Holmes had begun to stalk and threaten her, and yet no action was apparently taken: A University of Colorado psychiatrist told campus police a month before the Aurora

Rep. Peter King of New York on Friday cast Sen. Marco Rubio as a hypocrite for voting against the the Hurricane Sandy relief package and expressed disbelief that the Florida senator would then turn around and try to raise campaign money in the region. Mr. King questioned how Mr. Rubio could vote against the $60 million in relief for New York and New Jersey when Florida has received loads of federal money for Hurricane victims. “Guys like Marco Rubio of Florida, with all the money that you people have gotten in Florida over the years, with every hurricane

Attorney General Eric Holder expressed “concern” Thursday evening that black men are unfairly served with longer prison sentences than white men and that America’s prison system demands overhaul. “Too many people go to too many prisons for far too long for no good law enforcement reason,” Mr. Holder said, in remarks to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in New York, Politico reported. “It is time to ask ourselves some fundamental questions about our criminal justice system. … It is time to examine our systems and determine what truly works.” Mr. Holder said in the Politico report

President Obama and other Washington politicians are getting a bum rap on TV news as money-grubbers and power-grabbers, views the president´s former top speechwriter calls lies, especially those aimed at his former boss. Jon Favreau told students at Harvard University´s Institute of Politics that TV portrays political leaders wrongly, and that the public ends up with a bad view of those in power. "I think that a lot of people turn on the news today, a lot of young people, and they hear people tell them that every motivation of every politician on either

Joyce Karam, Washington correspondent for pan-Arabic daily Al-Hayat, offers a sobering assessment on the Al-Arabiya website of the current administrations efforts in the post-”Arab Spring” Middle East. She begins by noting a how a minor recent diplomatic walkback highlights the White House’s contradictory policy: It was only fitting that the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announces another traditional trip to the Middle East on the same day that the U.S. embassy in Cairo withdraws its tweet advancing the case for Egyptian Comedian Bassem Youssef as he faces intimidation from the Mursi government.

President Obama is eager to build public support for his health care overhaul in the few months remaining before its implementation, but waning enthusiasm from Democrats threatens his effort right out of the gate. Two-thirds of Democrats now believe Obama´s health care reforms will either hurt them personally or have no effect on their daily lives, a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows. In comparison, just 27 percent of Democratic respondents said the reforms would help them. The president has long struggled to convince independent and Republican-leaning voters that his health care blueprint would lower premiums and expand insurance coverage.

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look
