Why Nobody Believes
Obama on the Debt Ceiling

Slate, by Matthew Yglesias

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 1/15/2013 5:59:02 AM

Watching the president talk about the debt ceiling and his unwillingness to give up any ransom in exchange for it, I find it impossible not to confront the point that as of now nobody seems to believe him. And the reason isn´t hard to identify: the fiscal cliff deal. Not because the fiscal cliff deal was a bad deal; I think it was a good deal. But whatever you think of the deal, it wasn´t the deal that Obama said he would agree to. The administration put a lot of emphasis on the $250,000 cutoff point,

That´s how he gets elected.

Yeah, the leftist mongrels are really upset about Obama caving on the 250 figure.Of course they were stupid enough to believe Obama would tax his own donors to begin with. How did fat cat Hollywood types get a carve out? Easy, fundraisers.

No matter how many rich liberals you throw in front of these people, they still believe republicans have all the money. There should have been a big tax increase on union workers, they can afford it more than anybody.

What is amazing to me is reading the comment following this article. I do believe that liberals are mentally ill. How do you think like they do and not be? Crazy talk...and always their prince, Obama, is never, ever wrong and it´s all....now wait...yep, Bush´s fault.

It is truely breathtaking how stupid liberals can be. They watch The One lie each and every day but somehow believe he only lies about Republicans and that when he spouts the liberal line he really means it. They are like the abused wife who refuses to leave her husband after endless abuses. Liberals will tolerate any abuse of the country as long as they can be confident their a using leader is pushing the agenda.

The only point of the fiscal cliff was to force the GOP to sacrifice some taxpayers to higher taxes.

As part of the fiscal cliff deal he delayed cuts he previously agreed to for two months. By delaying those cuts, he is now saying the government will default if we don´t make up the revenue for delaying those cuts.

Reply 10 - Posted by: Bur Oak, 1/15/2013 8:24:42 AM     (No. 9117247)

Obama said he wants to fundamentally change the country. One of his strategies is to destroy the opposition. Another is to diminish the power and strength of the country. This is what the "fiscal cliff" was about and that is what the debt ceiling "crisis" is about. Obama has tens of millions of fellow travelers along with most of the mainstream media. Right now they are winning.

Looks like our Matthew got an unexpected bite taken out of his paycheck, his approving comments about the budget deal notwithstanding. Perhaps he is beginning to suspect that his earnings are really going to be affected if Obama gets the debt ceiling raised and proceeds to go on yet another one of his apendaholic binges, like the ditz who gets her credit card limit raised, and proceeds to max it out.

The only thing BO has ever had is bluster. He has no principles to stand on. He simply picks a point and then pontificates. No matter the outcome, he acts like he won and then moves on to the next thing, all along the way telling us how wonderful he is.

Of course BO has no credibility. To have credibility you have to stand for something and support it. The only thing BO Stands for is himself. The only thing you can count on is that BO will act in his own best interests.

Most commentary on Obama´s role in the fiscal cliff tax settlement misses the point. Obama gave his low info voters a holiday on FICA taxes. He didn´t get credit for increasing their take home pay but he got hammered for cutting it when the holiday was over. Usually he benefits from low information voters but this time he is hit by it. It is good to see the mindless mob turn on Obama but this really is a side issue when it comes to conservative principles.

The Gang of Eight — four Democratic and four Republican U.S. senators — have been meeting behind closed doors since January to produce “comprehensive immigration reform.” That will mean a multi-thousand-page bill that no one reads. You know the saying “fool me twice.” Americans got bamboozled in 2010, when the 2,572 page Obama health law was rushed through Congress unread. The surprises buried in that law are causing havoc. Let’s not repeat the mistake of “comprehensive” reform. Congress needs to fix immigration one step at a time, passing individual bills in plain English on border security, hiring, access to benefits

WASHINGTON—Senate Democrats are expected to defeat on Thursday a Republican effort to block gun-control legislation, paving the way for the full chamber to take up the issue for the first time since the December shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. A bipartisan group of negotiators working on expanding background checks for gun buyers also appeared poised to announce a deal at a joint news conference Wednesday. An aide close to the talks said Tuesday night that they were working out legislative language. Democrats appeared to have the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster and bring the gun bill

Denver-based CNN journalist Jim Spellman says the total lack of media coverage of the legal travails faced by Fox News reporter Jana Winter for protecting her sources clearly demonstrates an anti-Fox News bias in the press. Spellman claimed in a tweet that if Winter, who faces a subpoena and potential contempt of court charges for protecting her sources, worked for the New York Times instead of Fox News, the case would be garnering far greater exposure. “Observation: If @janawinter, who may go to jail to protect sources, worked for @nytimes instead of @FoxNews the case would be huge,” Spellman tweeted Sunday night.

In the U.K., private ownership of firearms is virtually banned. Professional criminals can still get guns, of course, but for your typical thug, knives are the weapon of choice. Obama will release his budget this week, and we already know that he´s going to try to stake out a treacherous "middleground" as he attempts to cast himself as a bold centrist, willing to stand apart from leftist Democrats. He´ll do so by, reportedly, introducing a Chained CPI, which is a way of cutting Social Security by using a different inflation measure that won´t rise as much. Liberals are already livid. Congressman Jerry Nadler — who is part of the Democratic party´s Progressive Caucus — slammed the reports in a comment made on Friday: I am quite concerned by reports

While politicians talk about expanding background checks for gun owners, I’m starting to think that what we really need are IQ tests for political officeholders. The only problem is, that might leave us with a lot of vacancies in Congress and America’s statehouses. The debacle over New York’s rushed-through gun bill is one example of what happens when enthusiasm meets stupid. But another is to be found in Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), who supports a ban on full-capacity magazines without understanding what a magazine actually is. Last week, DeGette justified her position this way: “I will tell you these are ammunition,

Secretary of State John Kerry is worth some $200 million, give or take a yacht. So his decision to slap a 5% pay cut on himself in solidarity with government employees squeezed by sequestration won’t likely hurt him much. But he’s saving taxpayers another way, too — if unintentionally. And it’s downright troubling. How else is Kerry saving money? He’s failing to hire folks to fill key spots at his agency. Terrific. Think about it: With the North Koreans threatening nuclear strikes against America — and Kerry himself preparing to visit South Korea this week — wouldn’t it be a tad helpful
