You really cannot, in fairness, blame President Obama for naming “Chuck” Hagel, one of the most clearly anti-Israel, anti-Semitic members of the Senate (or ex-members in his case) to be Secretary of Defense. President Obama has not changed his views on Israel since his first speech at the Democrat convention in 2004, when he made it clear that his sympathies in the Middle East lay with the Palestinians. In a way, you have to admire his consistency. Of course, he has to pay lip service to Israel when he visits Miami Beach, but how he must laugh
Despite Obama´s open hostility towards Israel the past 4 years, there´s still a lot of people who don´t see it,exactly because of the occasional lip service. But nothing has been as openly hostile as his nomination of Hagel, yet pro_Israel groups won´t fight him getting the position.
One thing you can´t take away from Obama is he´s very good at playing a sucker.
Wonder if the Jews in Germany felt the same way about Hitler..that he was all bluster and did not reallllllllly mean to exterminate them? Self delusion has long been a trait that seems to follow them. I personally have a strong sense of who is false and who is not; who is my enemy and who is not; who is phony and who is real. Liberals do not have that sense. They think good is bad and bad is good; phoney is authentic and authentic is phoney. Many moderates are the same way..and with less excuse as moderates have had more exposure to the truth but still suspend belief and pretend we can dance with the devil without getting burned. In the end it is truth/lies, enemy/friend, love/hate, war/peace...very clearly divided. I choose the God of Israel over the devil in the small man Obama.Jews choose Obama by a large majority. Tells us a lot. Pray for Israel and USA.
If it is O who wants Iran to have nukes and wants Israel vaporized, does it really matter, except that Hagel is a 2-fer as an anti-Israel Republican, who is Secretary of Defense. Hagel seems a nincompoop, a bought and paid for hack who will do what he´s told. I would not vote for his confirmation, but anyone nominated by O will surely share the same views.
On a second point, Ben Stein tells us twice here that the Jews who support O will put loyalty to the "party line" above Israel every time. That´s obvious. It would be more edifying of Mr. Stein, and more courageous, if he would go out on a limb and tell us why that is the case. Surely, he has an pinion on why.
Jews living in America have guilt over Jews living in Israel who are definately on the "front line". They downplay the tenuous circumstances of the state of Israel. Culturally, they diverge more and more as time goes by. Such is life.

Yo..yo...Most German Jews thought they were safe because they had become "good little German citizens". That big bad Hitler surely wouldn´t harm them! Didn´t work out too good for them. Remember Hitler was the "Politcal Messiah" who would save the German people. Hey...Let´s see how the new political Messiah does for ´Em.
I merely point out that those who think all Jews in America consider Israel a high priority are mistaken. The left-wing group-think party line far outranks Zionism for many, many Jews.
Liberal first, Jewish second. Or third. Jewishness for the American Jew has become just something they were born with. The Orthodox Jews are different -- they´re serious about their faith and about Israel, but your garden-variety secular Jew in America couldn´t care less about what happens to Israel, and most Jews in America ARE secular, i.e., they observe traditions of Judaism but not the religion of Judaism nor its God of the Bible.
So if Israel is wiped off the map, that fits just fine into the American Jewish notion that it is the Palestinians who are the "freedom fighters" and the Israelis who are the colonialists and oppressors.
Stein, as usual nails it. And he is also dead right about evangelical Christians being Israel´s only friends. We, unlike secular Jews, take our religion and our God seriously, and God gave that land and more to Israel. We also know that Israel and Judaism are at the foundation of our faith and Christianity is the outworking of Judaism.
As a Christian evangelical, I fear for Israel and yes, I see another holocaust on the horizon if Obama and Hagel and American Jews get their way. Pathetic....
#5 hagel´s position was news even when he was a senator. The majority did not hold his view and managed to get things done. People of Nebraska finally voted this maroon out. Now the lazy one wants to bring him back so that he can play hard ball with the Republicans.
Hagel is a symptom or evidence of the Obama disease. If Hagel is confirmed, Jews should find a way to inoculate themselves.
Ben is right in his observation: The only real friends that Israel has on this earth, evangelical Christians, will take note. Moreover, it is quite possible that we will soon be seeing Martin Niemoller´s famous words again come true:
"First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the... and I did not speak out because I was not a... Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me."
Please note I have taken some liberties by not reproducing the full quote. The repetition is chilling but full of irony because some of Niemoller´s "victims" are now the ones who are perpetrating the crime or, at least, have helped/are helping with it.
For those who care the Bible might give one plenty of insight as to what can be expected from Israel. And one might also learn their ultimate end.
Israel must be abandoned by the whole world to fulfill prophecy. And at this time the Jews are blinded, unable to see what is plainly before them. So we should not be surprised that they reject any common sense even when it pertains to their own interests. They are an "obstinate" people according to scripture.
And if we "rightly divide" the Bible like we are instructed to do then we would recognize that Israel is not God´s chosen people at this time; the is no difference in any of us in God´s eyes. But that does not mean God is not setting the world stage to fulfill his prophesy of coming to fight on Israel´s side against the whole world when the time comes. It is quite comical to watch the world leaders believe they can bring peace between the Jews and Palestinians. The Jews will eventually have enemies wishing for their demise on every side with no one in the world willing to help. It´s all there for anyone to read.
But that the world will ignore it is there in prophecy too. Go figure.
#11 thanks for reminder of scriptures predicting that Israel will end up friendless until the AntiChrist rides in to ´rescue´. USA is not mentioned in Revelation. Tells us a lot. In the mean time we are to pray for the souls of the lost ones and do our part to spread the Gospel.
#10, I´d rewrite the part that says " I did not speak out" to read "did not provide over-watch and covering fire" - much more useful than speaking out to LPs who don´t care what you have to say but do respect your ability to plant them 6 feet under. Apparently Martin hadn´t figured that out yet (if ever) when he wrote his letter. Hitler wouldn´t have cared what the Jews/´Good´ Germans said, but he would have cared if they had been in a position to plant him. Just like modern LPs. Which is why he disarmed them first.
On orders from Moscow, American Jewish Communists suspended criticism of Hitler during the August 1939-June 1941 period of the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact. Violation of that edict was called “premature antifascism” and men died for it.
What a different world this would be if Hitler had only been tipped off about the word Fasciaphobe.
It´s safe to say we´ve never had an American president who so enjoyed slapping our allies in the face and bowing to our adversaries - as Obama has.
And a great many of us never dreamed we´d have a little Emperor in ´control´ and having his way on so many different levels - bashing, trashing and trampling on basic beliefs and traditions we Americans believe in. And his motives? Too chilling and frightening to even think about now - with four more years to go.
I hope those of faith are correct about Israel. Meanwhile, I hope they have an evacuation plan for the bulk of the population. And Netanhayu should let the Arabs know that if a nuclear weapon is ever detonated in Israel, Mecca will be a shiny plain of glass shortly thereafter.
Yo, Ben: Lots of Roman Catholic intellectuals are fervent supporters of Israel. Just saying. Not that it isn´t a bloody shame that so many Catholics voted for Obama, twice. Just like among Jews, Marxism was injected into the culture virtually unopposed for a long time.
Those posters who lament that obama has four more years, what makes you think this part of the constitution will get any more respect than the other provisions which he is shredding every day - with no opposition ?
I am in constant confusion about the American Jews- they seem so intent on self destruction with their constant votes for Democrats. Their support for Øbama, in spite of both his speeches and actions against Israel and the leaders of Israel made not one iota of difference to the American Jewish vote- they almost unanimously supported Øbama. What a foolish group of fantasy believers. The Hagel nomination won´t change any American Jewish minds, either. Øbama could nominate an openly Nazi saluting candidate and the American Jews would still make excuses to support the Democrat. Amazing ethnic blindness.
Secular Jews are so trying to deny their Jewishness that they unwittingly fulfill prophesy. God saw the end from the beginning and gave us the Bible so that we too may see. None so blind as he who will not see. God bless.
First, let´s not use euphemisms - it´s not "anti-Israel, anti-Semitic members of the Senate;" it´s "anti-Isreal, anti-Jew members of the Senate." What other "Semitic" group are they opposed to?
If they are anti-Jew, what makes the American Liberal Jews think there is something different between themselves and Israel?
As #8 says, Jewishness for the American Jew has become just something they were born with. Do they think the Anti-Jews in this country will treat that as, say, something covered by the American with Disabilities Act? It did not protect the Jews of Reconquista Spain or Crusader Europe or WW2 Germany.
They don´t CARE is you act like Jew. It is the fact that you ARE a Jew.
As Prophet Jeremiah (who had a lot of experience with Jews on this point)said:
"Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not".
What exactly are the Pubbies supposed to do - last time I looked, they control the House, not the Senate or the president. With certain posters that is a recurring accusation. The BIble has been translated, redacted and is often used to convey the wrong message by different churches.
Ben is way off the mark here. What we are witnessing in the Hagel nomination is another battle in a war WITHIN the Jewish community about the way FORWARD and the rest of us are getting punked. There or 11 or 12 Jewish Senators-including Al Franken who Ben Stein endorsed in 2008--any one of whom could put a hold on Hagel’s confirmation. Why no hold, why no leadership on this nomination, and why are the GOP Senators supposed to lead on this matter when 80%, not 2/3, voted for Zero twice? Axelrod who is Jewish managed both Obama campaigns...Rahm, his first chief of staff chose go to Israel and support the IDF during the first Gulf War instead of enlisting here...Lew, Zero’s current chief of staff is an Orthodox Jew and is the nominee to replace another as Secy of Treasury...heck, Zero’s appointed chair of the DNC is Jewish...whinning and saying this is simply a Zero play is ludicrous...that´s why I respected our Jonah´s column last week where in effect he said, kill Hagel´s nomination and confirm Michelle Flournoy as the first Secy of Def. At least she married well...
Jews fear the Christians more than they fear the Muslim in office. They will continue to vote Dem and they will repeat history. It shouldn´t surprise anyone since the Jewish lobby and Jews who own media operations continue to help the Dems get elected. Glad Mr Stein has finally told the truth about what is going on.
He said in his book he would side with the Muslims if it came down to that. Every declaration concerning them has been to their advantage. A madman screaming Allah Akbar and murdering people in a gun free zone is not an Islamic terrorist re:by order of Obama--
FTA: “Barack Obama got two thirds of the Jewish vote.”
It was even worse. He got 70%.
“the really committed left-wing Jew does not care much about Israel. “
The “really committed left-wing Jew” is in reality an atheist who either no longer or never did believe in God. Yet they are still included as Jews. We American Christians however order our reality differently.
To us, it is God, family, country, in that order, and we take it seriously. An American who sells out America to her enemies has no claim to the title. A Republican who campaigns for the Democrat candidate is a traitor and a pariah. A Christian who betrays Christians is a Judas and an outcast.
Looking in from the outside, the obvious conclusions are that to Jews it is Tribe, Tribe, Tribe, in THAT order, with God as little more than a cultural relic, that America is just a big market, and that Jews were Jews long before God spoke to Abraham and will still be Jews long after they have forgotten God.
So perhaps one may understand why an old conservative Christian´s support for Israel has evaporated since 70% of those who are supposed to care just helped saddle America with 4 more years of her destruction, yet the 30% continue to embrace the 70% and ridicule and reject the evangelical Christians who are their only true friends.
I am free. I will watch for the New Jerusalem somewhere else.
I hope they are counting Catholics among those ´evangelical Christians´ who support Israel. I believe that most of us consider Jews the ´parents´ of our faith.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph, John the Baptist, Peter, Thomas, Andrew, Mary Magdalene, Elizabeth, Lydia, Martha -- all our founders were Jews -- except for Paul who opened the door and extended the faith to the gentile. Without Jews, Catholics would have no church.
Sorry, Ben, but the Jewish support of Obama is more of the same guilt-vote as the millions of whites who wanted to prove they aren´t ´racist´. Add that to the millions who identify as Catholic or Christian, in name only, and still vote for a President who is fulfilling his intentions instilled from birth; to take down the Great Satan United States to the level of the simpering, groveling E.U. which will cower at the powers of Islam, China & Russia and turn U.S. into a Godless used-to-be super power. Hope that self esteem tastes good cold, in the dark.
So, I guess the logic of this is, Jews don´t have a problem with Obama, then Jews won´t have a problem with Hagel. So that means I really shouldn´t care then, correct? That both men seem to dislike both Jews and Israel, no real problem, is that right? Got it.
Of course Catholics voted for Obama, so things like birth control under Obamacare and abortion are just fine as well, really. Yep, got that too.
First understand there are very few American Jews most citizens of that descent are similar to the 8 or 9 tribes of the original Israel that fell to Pagan religions and foreign cultures after the return from exile. They were Jews and Hebrews chosen by GOD no more. The may attend the trappings but have no relationship to their roots except relief that they don´t have to fight for their statehood rights. If Iran drops a nuke on Israel it´s also goodbye Iran and and other down Jet stream nations via the killing radioactive cloud blowing their way. Nothing will survive not even a stray blade of grass.
Ben is confused. He has helped BO get elected by harping at Republican candidates who did not match his exact ideology on some points (google some of his previous articles that also were in election years). That´s all good and fine - hey it helps Ben Stein make money. Don´t start belly-aching, though when you contribute to the low information voters hating Republicans like Sarah Palin. For a smart man he can be pretty dumb.
Poster 37, it is Israel that we worry about not the American Jewish population. If Israeli´s had a vote in US elections, I suspect they would have voted for Romney. I have a dear, dear Orthodox Jewish friend with family in Israel who said Israelis would have voted Bush 43 in for a 3rd term. So, while many American Jews don´t support Israel, and that´s what it comes down to with their support of Obama, we conservatives, evangelicals and Christians should continue our steadfast support of Israel. They need our support and prayers.
As a member of a Reform Temple, I can tell you that the issues of gay marriage, abortion on demand, "caring" for the poor, pay equity, global warming, fixing wealth distribution, our racist society, gun control, etc., come way before the issue of Israel. Israel? Where´s that?
This is the website for the Reform movments political action committe. Just click on the blue items on the left, and you will find every doctrinaire liberal drivel you can think of.
Many Jews seem to be remarkably suicidal. I´m almost at the point of not caring about Israel, after all, if the Jews don´t care about Israel, and vote for Obama, why should I care about Israel? It´s just a piece of real estate. Why don´t they come over and settle our desert?
As an evangelical Christian living in a large, rustbelt city, I observe that most Jews would willingly load up the boxcars - with evangelical Christians. Sometimes it boggles my mind how much they hate us. The Jewish messiah - the real one - taught us something else, though: He taught us to love even those who would kill us. Because He did.
As last winter’s congressional budget talks collapsed with the debt limit on the horizon, 27-year-old Luke Russert put the situation in perspective for MSNBC. “I have never seen anything like it in my three-and-a-half years on Capitol Hill,” he declared with conviction. It was a moment teed up perfectly for Washington’s many Russert-haters, who love to point both to Russert’s lack of experience and what they see as his accompanying lack of humility. Russert was famously hired fresh out of Boston College by NBC News the same summer that his father, “Meet the Press” legend Tim Russert, passed away suddenly—
No wonder it has been unseasonably cool in the northeast: Al Gore has been in Chicago this week (you remember the Gore Effect, I assume), doing “climate advocacy training” for a new generation of young people, better known to con men everywhere as “easy marks.” But The New Republic notes a fresh hypocrisy from Gore: his New York office is in an energy hogging building that boasts of a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, which only shows what a racket the whole LEED business is: “Gore’s applause, however, was premature.
One difference between professional athletes and fans, and between coaches and cheerleaders, is that while all of them see opportunities for their teams, the athletes and coaches are more likely to also see, and at least privately acknowledge, potential pitfalls. The 2014 Senate races, which are really a fight over who will hold the majority in the chamber, provide plenty of pitfalls for political professionals in both parties to worry about. On its face, the math certainly creates opportunities for Republicans. Twenty Democratic seats are up in 2014, compared with only 15
Suddenly it is imperative that Congress investigate details surrounding the attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens. I´ve never felt that way before. But Drew Griffin´s scoop* changed my mind. A bit of background: On September 11, 2012, Stevens and three other Americans were killed at a U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, touching off perhaps the strangest political controversy in recent years. (Snip)CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency´s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.
Secretary of State John Kerry gave several TV interviews while in Islamabad, Pakistan on Thursday, including one to Mariam Chaudhry of Pakistan TV. One question related to the drone policy of the United States, which is extremely unpopular in Pakistan. In his answer, Kerry seemed to suggest the program, which he said President Obama has "really narrowed," has almost accomplished its goals, not just in Pakistan, but throughout the world [emphasis added]: QUESTION: ... to speak a little bit more on this terrorism issue, Pakistan has been facing a grievous scenario vis-a-vis internal security.
Asked to name his worst failing, Barack Obama surprised the adoring Barbara Walters with a one-word answer — “Laziness.” “You lazy?” she gasped. “You know, it’s interesting,” the president mused. “There’s a deep-down — underneath all the work I do — I think there’s laziness in me. It’s probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii and it’s sunny outside, and sitting on a beach.” Notwithstanding the confidence he let slip to one of his admirers, in owning up to a deep-down laziness, Obama has always had a considerable talent for getting his own way —
The administration has popped the bubble of hope some small business had that switching to part-time staff would let them escape the high costs of Obamacare. The Small Business Administration on Thursday created a website to explain to businesses that the government will simply tally up the number of part-time employees firms have to determine if enough hours have been worked to essentially create a "full-time equivalent." Some smaller businesses had thought that if they could get under the 50 full-time employee cap that activates Obamacare by cutting full-time workers and hiring more part-time workers they would escape
I have been studying the transcript of the recent New York Times interview of President Barack Obama. It is a remarkable document—remarkable not for the facts it contains, but for the way it reveals the mentalities of the participants. Remarkable, too, in so far as the transcript allows a curious reader to see, in detail, how journalism is manufactured. Through a process of extraction, distillation, production, transportation, and marketing no less sophisticated than the global supply chain that brings Southeast Asian textiles to your neighborhood big-box store, a rambling, snobbish, and platitudinous discussion between three well-compensated Washingtonians
Accused mass murderer James “Whitey” Bulger has to decide today whether he’ll take the witness stand and try to reshape his reputation, a judge told his defense lawyers, adding that Wednesday night’s defense photo dump convinced her that the answer will be yes. With Bulger’s lawyers still coy on the subject, Judge Denise J. Casper said they must either put him on or rest after their last witness is called today. However, Casper added she believes his lawyers tipped their hand Wednesday night when they filed 20 photos with the court, documenting Bulger’s youth, showing him with a priest and pets,
Here we go again, processing peace in the Middle East. Processed peace is no more peace than Velveeta is cheese, but it beats suicide bombing and killing children. So let the Kerry Games begin. Neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians actually expect to accomplish much, but autumn in Washington can be very nice, with warm days and cool nights, and the restaurants are good. Not a bad place to spend the next eight months, pretending to negotiate “a diplomatic breakthrough to end more than a century of conflict,” as one optimist puts it. Jaw, jaw is always better than war, war,
As the Weiner campaign itself bumps up the spectacle of a campaign in disarray, The New York Times has a look at just how involved the Clintons have been in helping — and protecting — Huma Abedin. Abedin, described in the paper as a "beloved surrogate daughter to the Clintons," took a lot of public heat recently for her decision to stand by her husband in a press conference addressing the new round of sexting allegations. It´s no secret that Hillary Clinton is something of a model for Abedin — both as a wife who stayed with her husband
During his speech on the economy last month in Galesburg, Illinois, Barack Obama suggested Washington should stop focusing on an “endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals.” He repeated the line about “phony scandals” in another speech on July 25 and in his weekly address on July 27. Obama, whose approval rating has been falling since the spring, has been rocked by months of scandal coverage. His administration’s strategy to change the subject, it seems, is to channel its inner Holden Caulfield. White House press secretary Jay Carney kicked things off a few days before Galesburg
Colin Powell has admitted to exchanging ´very personal´ emails with a Romanian diplomat but denies having an affair with the much younger woman after a hacker threatened to release their intimate messages. The 76-year-old retired general told the Smoking Gun that he met Corina Cretu, 45, roughly 10 years ago when she was working as an assistant to the president of Romania. She is now a member of the European Parliament. ´After I left the Department of State in January 2005 we stayed in touch via email,´ he told TSG.
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
CNN has uncovered exclusive new information about what is allegedly happening at the CIA, in the wake of the deadly Benghazi terror attack. Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in the assault by armed militants last September 11 in eastern Libya. Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret. CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again. Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy. But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them. “They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine. That’s a long way from how Abedin
In preparation for the release of Oscar-bait film The Butler, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and director Lee Daniels (Precious) sat down with Parade magazine. The film chronicles a butler (Whitaker) who works in the White House through seven administrations. Winfrey plays the butler’s wife. In the interview, Winfrey explained her sadness that so few Americans know about the history of the civil rights movement: “They don’t know diddly-squat. Diddly-squat.” She then said of the historic use of the n-word, “I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last
The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.
If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But
American scientists claim the planet is undergoing one of the largest changes in climate in the past 65 million years. Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.
[Video] Ouch. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie turned down an offer by Sen. Rand Paul to join him for a beer and bury the hatchet in their ongoing -- and very public -- feud. "I´m running for re-election in New Jersey. I don´t really have time for that at the moment," Christie said in an interview on a local radio station. The New Jersey governor said if he finds himself in Washington, "I´ll certainly look him up." But he added: "I don´t suspect I´ll be there anytime soon. I´ve got work to do here."
