As proved in Waco and elsewhere, these communities cannot attain the "critical mass" to stand up to tyrants in D.C. Only a mass secession of states might have that possibility - and that would be problematic even with outside help. Remember that the American revolution barely succeeded, even with the help of France. Our only real hope would be a sympathetic US military. That is where organizations like Oath Keepers (www.oathkeepers.org) play a useful role.

Any successful revolt against tyrants needs effective leaders. Having memorable martyrs also helps.

About 5% of the population has a mental illness. 1 - 2 % have a serious mental illness. If this has 3,500 families of at least 2 people each, that is 7.000 people...of which at least 70 - 140 will have serious mental illness. Think carefully how much access to rifles or any other types of guns you want for those 70 or so people.

I´m behind it as a concept but I wonder about it´s practicality.The left in this country doesn´t approve of any separatist movements,especially if they involve mostly white people..Secondly,they have drones now so even if they fend off a ground assault they can be drone hit.

The real story is this is just another outbreak of protest against Obamastyle government and policies. Conservatives know they aren´t this country´s problems,nor do they want to fund left wing craziness.

It really ticks me off that a few splotches of blue on the country´s electoral map can give someone like Obama the power the creep craves.

We are retired now and all of our lives we have freely traveled throughout the USA, first on family vacations, (...´´See the USA in your Chevrolet,´ as Dinah sang!), and additionally later because of jobs which were located in widely different areas of the country, and we have always considered the entire country as our, ´´community,´´ united in our Constitutional principles of Life, Liberty and Justice for ALL. Friendly & likeminded people are always there throughout this great country.

Which is why the blatantly counterfeit representation in today´s deceitful statist leadership has become so glaringly apparent. America is needlessly suffering because our Constitutional ship of state has veered off course, and is being lured by the statist´s siren song onto the rocks. Only the voters can CHANGE this direction by seeking ethical, moral and patriotic representation. ...Remember, we also do vote with our discressionary dollars!

#15 & #17 I am also planted exactly where God wants me to be unless otherwise moved. Hopefully as a "radical,right wing,Bible studying,Tea Party conservative Goldwater Republican" I will do something to become part of what our Republic needs to keep afloat. Have raised 2 great kids with the knowledge to be patriotic even when their friends were liberal. My generation(WWII children) may have to see it get much worse before or if we are to remain on the planet. God has been very patient with America for the last 50+ years & will not put up with this crap!

If you can have communities for the elderly and beaches for nudists, then why not communities for freedom-loving patriots? I read the website and the FAQ section specicially says the mission of the development is not to fight against the government. It is just a place for people who want to live in accordance with the principles espoused by Thomas Jefferson. There is a mention of self-suffiency and being proficient with firearms. Another goal is listed as having schools as places of learning, not indoctrination.

It might not be my thing, but I don´t care if others want to engage in freedom of association. I don´t think people are crazy to be afraid of the way things are going in this country, and live in a way that involves defense, rather than taking the offensive against perceived wrongs.

One truth of our society is that most cowards, either alone or roaming in packs, are not going to attack an armed community. They will look for the weak and unarmed to prey upon.

By reading some of these post one would think it´s perfectly OK for Black Panthers to have their hangouts. For Gays to run Bath houses.Inner City Gangs to have their hold outs. But God forbid a Group of Liberty minded Folks to form a place to hide and protect their Families from all this madness. Perhaps we are reaping what we have sown.
