A 23-year-old woman from Brooklyn, New York, has won the title of Miss America - beating out 13,000 other contestants including the pageant’s first autistic contestant and a woman with Tourettes. Mallory Hagan won the beauty pageant on Saturday night after tap dancing to James Brown´s ´Get Up Off of That Thing´ in Las Vegas and answering a question about whether armed guards belong in grade schools by saying the nation should not fight violence with violence. Hagan defeated Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers, who took second, and Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton, who finished third.
It looks like all awards, from the Nobel to the ´´beauty´´ pagents are irrelevant now. It is all political correctness now. Contestant´s minds must be ´´right´´ and their speech carefully crafted to regurgitate the desired themes. None are worth watching any more.
I was watching my paint dry last night. as to a 23 year participating in a floozy contest (oh I´m sorry I meant scholarship program) Too bad she has been corrupted by PC talk and not know anything about how this country was founded and what people gave up for freedom from tyranny.
she should read up on the people in DC who have kids in private schools with armed guards protecting their little darlings. This also included the people in MSM. I think if O is serious about how safe the country would be if all guns were taken away should begin with example and dismiss his secret service personal. Just let Michelle tell everyone that this is the law spoken by her husband and voila, the problem will no longer exist, N´est pas?
Right...fight violence with photo shoots, not guns!
Ya´ know, every time one of these supposed ´exemplary´ young ladies opens her mouth at one of these ´meat viewing´ competitions, I can´t help but recall the old hippy bumper sticker...
"Visualize Whirled Peas!"
The absolute vapid mental state of ´progressives´ is on display daily as an utter lack of reality. Oddly - liberals think it´s the *only* reality. Must be why they piled up a quarter billion corpses last century vying for that ´Utopia´ thing...
You´d think a bright bimbo would at least comment on the spectacular death rate of youth attributable to alcohol.
It´s fine with me if those libs who are not hypocritically using gun-wielding people to protect them, elect to not protect themselves and their loved ones.
I, however, are prepared to do just that if necessary.
Worked with lovely folks from the Phillipines and asked then how Marcos was able to take and hold the country for years - answer: "first they took away our guns. You cannot fight men with guns, when you have nothing."
I thought all the questions asked lacked any shred of merit - - and three tapdancers, a twirler, a modern dance contortionist, crooners and piano players in the final 10 - not much real talent anywhere there. But then that is Miss America 2013 style - and donuts for the losers - tacky tacky.
Back in the 1960s, Miss Wisconsin´s talent was shooting a bow and arrow. And the new Miss America said something so stupid, I was amazed! "You can´t fight violence with violence!" Tell that to the police, or as others have noted, those upper class parents who hire armed guards...
Congrats to Auburn University. The new Miss America crowned last night went to AU and also Miss Alabama, girlfriend of the Univ of AL quarterback, who has been all over the news this week since seen at the championship game last Monday night. War Eagle!
After picking a few from the total 53 I had chosen the 3 of the 5 who gave good answers to questions: Wyoming regarding good parents teaching kids truths instead of perscriptions; South Carolina said the sports amnouncer had every right to call Alabama´s girlfiend beautiful & I have forgotten Oklahoma´s answer but it was conservative. I´ll bet if Texas had been given a question in the 5 on guns she would have given a great answer. Bet the judges were split between NY & SC like our country.
They destroyed the girl a few years ago who dared to come out against gay marriage. So all these other girls have to realize that and answer the left´s PC question correctly. Ambushing people in these contests is just a low key level of bullying that works.
WDE #31. Auburn is certainly full of beautiful, talented women ;) however this lib sounds like she may be a bad apple. I don´t really understand how a southern woman, born and raised in the very, very southern town of Opelika, Alabama can be Miss New York. She´s lived there for what, 3 years?! If I were Miss Alabama I would be furious! Competition is much tougher down in Dixie, there is simply no question about that.
Armed guards for banks, politicians and celebrities, but not for our children??? They must have replaced the basic IQ requirement with a PC requirement for Miss America since I last watched. Always been a huge letdown to see very attractive women spout very PC drivel.
Saw photos by accident on my PC. She looks rough. PC rules the day. No honest answer is accepted unless it is shaped to conform with the latest PC meme; gun control. Some girl got skewered a while back for giving her honest opinion on gay marriage and was forever branded. The choice of NY over SC is laden with many political symbolism. Notice the NOW crowd no longer complains about this mindless dribble. NY won, it´s ok now. For now.
The culture war isn´t over until they kill every last one of us. They may be winning battles but they haven´t won the war as long as there are people who believe in decency and affect the people they are around. The war is won one individual at a time and we need to persevere. The Left will not win in the end because their way of lawlessness and personal irresponsibility leads to ruin for those who imbibe their koolaid.
Ms Hagen is just plain looking to me so I think that Miss South Carolina was robbed. Personally I´ve seen better looking women in uniform at the Navy Exchange. All this twit did was give the standard PC dopey answer to her question. That is the only reason why the twit won. The Miss America pageant has become another once great thing that has becoame a joke. I remember the whole controversy in 09 with Carrie Prejean. I do wish Hagan the best of luck because I belive in the old saying, Beauty fades but stupid is forever.
EDGARTOWN, Mass.— President Obama and his wife, Michelle, have begun a weeklong holiday on Martha’s Vineyard that, for now at least, is more a romantic getaway than a family vacation. While their daughters, Malia and Sasha, are away at summer camp and not scheduled to join them until later in the week, the Obamas have put off their usual menu of family activities like mountain biking and a trip to the local bookstore in favor of dinner at the Sweet Life Cafe and a cocktail party. Mr. Obama also found time for back-to-back golf days
Tea Party. Patriot. Conservative. We the People. Freedom. Constitution. Second Amendment. Gun Rights. Pro-Life. Christian. These were some of the keywords used by the IRS to screen individuals and groups seeking tax exempt status and then delay them because they were identified as conservative. (Snip) Allow me to add my suspicion that there is one more type of victim to be added to the list: “conservative filmmaker.” During the latter part of 2011, I agreed to produce a film written by noted author Dinesh D’Souza. It was titled, “2016: Obama’s America” and was due to be released during summer 2012.
WASHINGTON—If former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is ordered to spend time behind bars, he would like to go to either the federal prison camp in Montgomery, Ala., or the low-security portion of the federal correctional institution in Butner, N.C., one of his lawyers said today. Jackson, 48, will be sentenced Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after looting his campaign treasury of about $750,000. His wife, Sandi, 49, a former Chicago alderman, will be sentenced the same day for failing to report about $600,000 in income. Both resigned from office before pleading guilty
President Obama’s golf course antics on a sunny day on Martha’s Vineyard yesterday sparked a Twitter storm. Obama, golfing yesterday with aide Marvin Nicholson, White House chef Sam Kass and Robert Wolf, a Wall Street consultant, at Farm Neck Golf Club, was caught by photographers lifting his right leg in animated form after missing a putt. The move prompted a Twitter snarkfest.“Is Obama auditioning for the Ginyu Force with that picture?” tweeted @mininerd_julia. “Obama is the most powerful man in the world, but good lord does he need a golf fashion makeover,” tweeted Shane Bacon, a golf blogger
California has become the first state to enshrine certain rights for transgender K-12 students in state law, requiring public schools to allow those students access to whichever restroom and locker room they want. Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown announced Monday that he had signed AB1266. The new law gives students the right "to participate in sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities" based on their self-perception and regardless of their birth gender. Supporters said the law will help reduce bullying against transgender students. It comes as the families of transgender students have been waging local battles with school districts around the country
North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) on Monday signed into law one of the nation’s most wide-ranging Voter ID laws. The move is likely to touch off a major court battle over voting rights, and the Justice Department is weighing a challenge to the new law. The measure requires voters to present government-issued photo identification at the polls and shortens the early voting period from 17 to 10 days. It will also end pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-old voters who will be 18 on Election Day and eliminates same-day voter registration. Democrats and minority groups have been fighting
EDGARTOWN, Mass. — President Barack Obama is playing golf despite rain that is dampening the second day of his Martha´s Vineyard vacation. Before leaving his rented home in the town of Chilmark on Monday, the White House says he was briefed by national security adviser Susan Rice, who accompanied the president on vacation. The White House released a photograph of the two sitting across from each other at a table and dressed in what appeared to be gym clothes. Obama is playing at the Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown with Washington power broker Vernon Jordan,
ALBANY— President Obama is expected to make a trip to upstate New York next week as he travels the country to promote his “better bargain for the middle class.” The White House’s pool report, citing an unnamed White House official, said the president would travel Aug. 22 and 23 on a two-day bus tour through New York and Pennsylvania. The online news site Politico, citing unnamed sources, said Obama was scheduled to make several stops in upstate New York. Two sources confirmed the trip to Gannett’s Albany Bureau. There was no immediate comment from the White House on where the
A new political dynasty might soon be joining the Kennedys, Clintons and Bushes: Duck Dynasty, that is. Some key Republican operatives are eager to woo one of the hit show´s stars--Willie Robertson--to run for the seat given up by retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander. Alexander, expressing frustration with divided government, is going to work in Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal´s cabinet. He will leave at the end of September and a special election will be held to fill the open seat. He represents the 5th District, including Monroe, La., home to the group
President Obama enjoyed an afternoon of golf at Farm Neck Golf Course and dinner out with friends at Sweet Life Cafe in Oak Bluffs Sunday, two places he has visited often during his Martha´s Vineyard vacations. (Snip)Just before 7:30 pm, the president and Mrs. Obama arrived at Sweet Life Cafe on Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs to dine with a group of friends. President Obama waved to a small crowd of people gathered in front of the Oak Bluffs Inn across the street as he stepped out of his vehicle. He bounded up the front steps with a smile
BOSTON — After five days and more than 30 hours of deliberations, jurors have convicted James "Whitey" Bulger of racketeering and conspiracy charges and concluded that the former crime Boston was responsible for 11 murders dating back to the 1970s. Jurors convicted Bulger on charges related to 11 of the 19 murders he was charged with under a wide-ranging federal indictment that also implicated him with extortion, money laundering and other charges dating back to the purported mobster´s reign as leader of South Boston´s Winter Hill Gang. The verdict brings the case one step closer to closure
A Manhattan federal court judge today ripped the NYPD’s controversial stop-and-frisk practices, saying the city acted with “deliberate indifference” in sanctioning these “unconstitutional” searches by cops. The NYPD has been systematically targeting minorities and violating their Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures and 14th Amendment guarantees of due process and equal protection, according to US District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin. “I find that the City is liable for violating plaintiffs’ Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights,” Scheindlin wrote. “The City acted with deliberate indifference toward the NYPD’s practice of making unconstitutional stops and conducting unconstitutional frisks.”
The sales assistant who refused to show U.S. talkshow billionaire Oprah Winfrey a luxury handbag costing nearly £25,000 claims the superstar lied about what happened in the luxury Swiss boutique where she works. Speaking anonymously to Sunday newspaper SonntagsBlick, the Italian bag lady said she felt ´powerless´ and in the grip of a ´cyclone´ after Winfrey went on TV in America to claim she had been the victim of racism. Winfrey was in Switzerland in July when she walked into the Trois Pommes boutique in Zurich looking for a handbag to match the outfit she was going to
In a story that has remained largely under the mainstream media radar, Congress announced late last month that it would finally investigate the Aug. 6, 2011 helicopter crash in Afghanistan that resulted in 38 deaths, including 22 members of SEAL Team 6, made famous three months earlier when they killed Osama Bin Laden. Grieving family members insist that soldiers in the elite unit were placed in unnecessary danger by the recklessness of the Obama administration, whose actions they characterized as criminal. “We’re going to dive into this,” said Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT),
Appearing on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert battled not only the Democratic panelists but also conservative pundit George Will over the wisdom of shutting down the government to prevent Obamacare funding. Gohmert strongly condemned President Barack Obama’s argument at Friday’s news conference that the GOP’s “holy grail” was enying millions of people health insurance. “That’s a false narrative,” Gohmert said. “He says we’re trying to keep people from having health care. That’s just not true. That is an absolute, blatant lie. We’re not trying to keep anybody from getting health care.
During his Wednesday appearance on Jay Leno´s "Tonight Show,´ President Obama made three factual gaffes; one of them involved the claim that cities not found along the Gulf of Mexico are. Were Obama a Republican, these gaffes would have led news coverage for the next forty-eight hours. Not only did most of the media ignore or downplay these gaffes; the Associated Press went so far as to cover one of them up. In its coverage Thursday, rather than point out the president´s geographical error, the wire service made it look as though no error was made.
The taxpayer-supported Missouri State Fair is getting a lot of negative publicity in social media Sunday following a report of a shameful stunt that occurred Saturday night in Sedalia. (Snip) Basically, a clown wearing a mask of Obama came out during the bull riding event. The crowd was asked if it wanted to see Obama “run down by a bull. Things got worse from there." Things got worse from there, which doesn’t surprise me, given the anti-Obama feeling among many fairgoers from rural Missouri, where Obama lost to Mitt Romney (at least 60-40 percent in much of outlying parts of state)
Ames, Iowa — Donald Trump delivered a blistering attack on Mitt Romney’s campaign today. “I don’t know what the hell happened with his campaign,” Trump said in a speech at The Family Leader Summit. “I just don’t get it. That was an election that couldn’t have been lost.” “Every single state that they asked me to go or do some phone calls or some television, we won in the primaries,” Trump remarked. But he also criticized what the campaign had initially wanted him to say in robocalls. “They gave me this most pathetic thing to say. I said,
During an hour-long deep dive into the growing use of food stamps in America, Fox News highlighted “the new face of food stamps.” That new face is a pina colada-sipping, lobster-loving lothario named Jason Greenslate. Greenslate, a 29-year-old La Jolla California surfer and musician who sings that he does not want a “motherfucking job” and has “fuck no” guilt about living on $200 of what he calls “free money ” — or what the government called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Benefits — while he avoids a job to hang out on the beach, sing and chase women.
President Obama took his case for ending the sequester to hundreds of disabled veterans Saturday, saying he protected their benefits from the “reckless” cuts to the federal budget but suggesting next year might be different. “It’s hurting our military. I made it clear that your veteran’s benefits are exempt from this year’s sequester,” the president said to the applause of hundreds at the Disabled American Veterans´ convention in Orlando, Fla. “But I want to tell you going forward the best way to protect the VA care you have earned is to get rid of this sequester altogether.”
Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft. Arriving in the idyllic coastal retreat of Martha´s Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mr Obama left behind him in Washington DC high profile debates over the budget, government surveillance and his health care reforms. Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.
Potential 2016 presidential contender Donald Trump spoke to ABC’s Jonathan Karl Sunday morning and reignited the birther issue that he helped spark back in 2011, questioning the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate and wondering whether Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, was eligible to president. “Was there a birth certificate?” Trump asked. “You tell me. Some people say that was not his birth certificate. I’m saying I don’t know. Nobody knows. And you don’t know, either, Jonathan. You’re a smart guy, you don’t know, either.” “I’m pretty convinced he was born in the United States,” Karl said.
MANY American newspapers were doomed to decline from the moment the Internet arrived on personal computers. But The Washington Post, just sold off unexpectedly to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, was never really one of them. This is something the sentimental send-offs for the Graham family and its stewardship tended to ignore. As disruptive as the Internet has been for journalism, The Post was uniquely positioned to succeed amid the chaos.
Ames, Iowa – Rafael Cruz brought down the house. Speaking at The Family Leader Summit today, the father of Ted Cruz delivered an energetic speech that earned him one of the longest standing ovations of the day. “Our lives are under attack,” Cruz said of Obamacare. “We already saw what is happening with abortion. The same thing is happening at the other end with Obamacare. Obamacare is going to destroy the elderly by denying care, by even perhaps denying treatment of people [with] catastrophic sickness.” He also addressed religious liberty, saying “socialism requires that government becomes your god.”
