| SAN DIEGO - California was going from cold to colder Friday as a chill expected to bring the biggest mercury dips in years descended on much of the state. The Grapevine section of Interstate 5, the key artery linking southern and northern California, was shut down Thursday night. The area was blanketed with heavy snowfall that showed no immediate signs of stopping, leaving truckers and would-be travelers stranded. I hate reading this, I love California, but here in Colorado, we are having weird weather here as well. One day it is frigid when you wake up and by noon, I have doors and windows open and the ceiling fans on. I agree, it IS global warming. What a stupid thing that is for the gov to tout.

For us in the Antelope Valley, night time cold is in the teens, not the twenties. Twenties are predicted lows until Thursday.

Watch for prices of oranges and lemons to go up, as well as avocados. And strawberries.
Not just frost expected, but a freeze for several nights. In Southern California where these crops grow.

Why don´t they just start reporting the weather on the Editorial pages? We could even have a columnist from the left and from the right each interpreting the daily highs and lows.

OAKLAND, Calif. — In recent months, journalists covering crime and other stories here have themselves become victims of crime, robbed of expensive cameras, sometimes at gunpoint. In less than a year, every major television news station in the Bay Area has been a victim, some more than once. One experienced newspaper photographer has lost five cameras. In the most brazen episode, a group of men punched a KPIX-TV cameraman last November while he was filming at midday in front of an Oakland high school. The robbers fled with his camera while it was still recording.

VALLEJO, Calif — A California man once sentenced to death for killing two people in the 1960s was under arrest Thursday after police said he led officers to the body of his 89-year-old mother. Investigators said Dennis Stanworth, 70, called Vallejo police just before noon Wednesday and said he had killed his mother at his home. Stanworth led officers to the body of Nellie Turner Stanworth. Investigators wouldn´t say how she was killed. Lt. Jim O´Connell said in a news release that Stanworth was arrested for investigation of murder and booked into the Solano County Jail. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.
