Jack Lew´s Budget Ineptitude

Investor´s Business Daily, by Editorial

Only in Washington can someone who is singularly identified with failure not only be commended for it, but also actually win promotion to even greater responsibility. America, meet Jack Lew, your next Treasury secretary. (Snip) We find it troubling that Lew has repeatedly told outright falsehoods about U.S. budgets and debt — deceiving both the public and Republican opposition about our fiscal health. As he told CNN in 2011: "Our budget will get us, over the next several years, to the point where we can look the American people in the eye and say we´re not adding to

First, Bill Clinton never considered a balanced budget when he entered office, or campaigned on one.

Second, the 1994 budget stalemate with Newt, froze spending at previous year´s level.

Third, demographic spike created large increase in Social Security funds which created the "surplus".

Fourth, look up the national debt, and determine if the borrowing stopped during those couple years when we had a "surplus".

All of Crapweasel´s first term appointees were so bad, they just ´deemed´ them, Czars... and failed to even try, to run them before a Congressional Appointment Committee.

Consider this:

´´Bet you didn´t know what´s hidden in The Gun Control Act of 1968.

The Treasury Secretary is vested with the right to ban importation of any firearm he finds "does not have a sporting purpose."

While this authority is "currently" delegated to the BATFE, it doesn´t have to remain delegated. In fact, there is nothing legislative about that delegation to the best of my knowledge, which means it can be revoked by pure fiat.

Jack Lew, the person most-likely to be nominated to replace Geithner, is Obama´s current Chief of Staff. As such it must be presumed that he will do whatever Obama wants, within the limit of his statutory authority.

And that authority includes the ability to ban the import of any gun.´´

There is a ton of Lew history in this relatively short article. Have the drivebys read it?

An example:

Contrary to Obama´s claim this week, Lew didn´t "deliver" three years of budget surpluses in the late 1990s with Clinton.

Those surpluses were written into law by a Republican Congress that refused to spend as much as Clinton wanted.

As for Lew´s experience as an aide to O´Neill in the 1980s, recall that Democrats then agreed to $3 in spending cuts for every $1 in tax hikes under the 1982 budget deal.

But when it came time to cut spending, as agreed, they refused. It was a big lie, and they blamed Reagan for the deficits.

How can we talk intelligently and inform anyone else (the MSM won´t) if we don´t read what is served to us with a spoon hera at LCom?

RIYADH - Russian President Vladimir Putin called U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday to discuss a U.S. diplomatic proposal for Ukraine, the White House said, adding that Obama told him that Russia must pull back its troops and not move deeper into Ukraine. It was believed to have been the first direct conversation between Obama and Putin since the United States and its European allies began imposing sanctions on Putin´s inner circle and threatened to penalize key sectors of Russia´s economy. Russia´s reinforcement of troops near Ukraine has brought the total forces there to as many as 40,000, U.S. officials estimated on

VATICAN CITY – President Barack Obama and the Vatican gave distinctly different accounts of the president´s audience with Pope Francis on Thursday, with Obama stressing their common ground on poverty and inequality but Vatican officials emphasizing concerns over Obama´s health care law, which mandates contraception coverage. Obama described himself as "incredibly moved" by his nearly hour-long session with the popular pontiff. He said the two spent the most time discussing the plight of the poor and the marginalized as well as regions of conflict and the elusive nature of peace around the world. President Obama´s first salary as a community organizer was paid by a Catholic group and his earliest social justice work was rooted in Catholic social doctrine. He identified with Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, then Chicago´s archbishop, whose consistent ethic of life encompassed a dedication to the poor, a concern over the human costs of war, and opposition to the death penalty. You could imagine that at his meeting with Pope Francis on Thursday, the president was tempted to ask: Why can´t these American bishops get along with me? Or, perhaps more humbly: Holy Father, what can I do to make these

A small study that examined brains from children who died found abnormal patterns of cell growth in autistic children. The research bolsters evidence that something before birth might cause autism, at least in some cases. Clusters of disorganized brain cells were discovered in tissue samples from brain regions important for regulating social functioning, emotions and communication - which can all be troublesome for children with autism.(Snip)The authors said the clusters, detected with sophisticated lab tests, are likely defects that occurred during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy. A long-running child custody case took a dramatic turn Tuesday, when a Massachusetts juvenile court judge awarded permanent custody of teenager Justina Pelletier to the state Department of Children and Families. The ruling by Judge Joseph Johnston means the 15-year-old will probably stay in state custody until her 18th birthday unless her parents can prove they are fit to care for their child. The judge’s four-page decision, which was provided to the Globe, was remarkable for its detail and forcefulness. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas.
