My family physician runs a blended practice, part insurance and part concierge. He takes no Medicare or Medicaid patients. He had figured out how many patients he needs to run his practice as he sees fit, and has a waiting list. It has to be wonderful in today´s world of medicine to have that control.

I don´t feel sorry for Shadowfax, but I do feel sorry for his/her patients. If those same "pimp" doctors who suddenly have awakened to reality employed the same effort to defund, repeal, and reverse Obamacare, maybe they could redeem themselves and save a lot of their current patients and future patients.

After 12 plus years of college/schooling I am sure many of these physicians believe they are God and have all the answers. I am sure they will be a bit delusional when they find out that the Federal government/obama is actually god and not them.

My doctors, here in MA, considered obamacare unacceptable and unworkable....and some of them have taken an early retirement.

NYC is filled with Doctors who love obama. It´s going to get ugly when osamacare reality hits them in the face along with the tax hikes.....

I am embarrassed to say that my son is one of those doctors who thinks Obamacare is a fabulous idea. Of course, he also lives in California. I often wonder just when reality is gonna strike him. Good luck I say. I expect there will be much moaning and gnashing of teeth.

Upcoding is a real and profound problem regularly practiced by hospitals and medical practices.

It is estimated that medical upcoding is the largest Fraudulent practice by $ amount in the entire economy.

Doctors come in all stripes. Che Guevara was one, I believe. When my niece was in med school a few years back, it was considered gauche to mention money in the pursuit of a medical career. It was all about respect for patients and doing good in the world. Several of her classmates supported O-care openly, and the ones who did not just kept to their studies since being outspokenly against O-care smacked of self-interested money-grubbing disguised as concern for the future of patient care. The narrative that O shamelessly put forth when he talked about doctors cutting off feet and tonsils to make more money has intimidated most doctors into politically correct silence. While we were all sleeping, the germ of socialism was slowly infecting every aspect of our society. When those like Shadowfax fully awake, it will already be too late.

Doctors and hospitals do upcode and perform unnecessary procedures. And many doctors and insurance companies do support government run healthcare. What is better than having a law that says everyone has to have insurance to pay doctors and hospitals, they ask?

All Medicare patients are going to be hurt bad in all this medical fiasco. First Obama took $500 BILLION out of Medicare and put it into Obamacare. That is obviously going to cut some services. Secondly Doctors compensation is being reduced. This will cause many doctors to either retire or stop taking any medicare patients. I see on the copies of Bills what my Doctor charges and what Medicare pay him instead. It is less than half of his normal charge.

I´m in a small town and my Doctor said he is concerned as 2/3´s of his patients are medicare patients. There are not enough rich people here to offset the costs whether they pay cash or their own insurance. It will most likely be the demise of all Doctors in this County or perhaps State.

Then what?

#14 - I disagree. It won´t be too late. Just as the tax-the-rich liberals woke up to an ugly reality with the recent tax deal, Osamacare just might cure a lot of sheltered liberals of Socialism. Plus, the math alone will kill Osamacare.

I followed the link from the article to Shadowfax´s blog and posted the question asking him if he has changed his mind about Osamacare. I suggest going there and reading the comments - sounded like most comments were posted by Ldotters!

My primary care physician retired early. Saw obama care for what it is. There is going to be a significant doctor shortage in the Country very soon. But it will not last long. As part of a stimulus program, obama is promoting on-line medical schools. His favorite is from the Nigerian Skool of Dokters. Not sure, but rumor has it his cousin is running it.
