Meet the "1%" Funding
Anti-Fracking Hysteria

Front Page Magazine, by Michael Volpe

Original Article

The world presented in Matt Damon’s new movie Promised Land is a world in which the fracking movement, well-funded by corporate oil money, takes on a ragtag bunch of idealistic environmentalists. It’s the classic David vs. Goliath story. According to a new report, the anti-fracking movement is just as well-funded by highly organized environmental groups backed by deep-pocketed liberal philanthropists and even Middle East oil money. According to a new report titled “The Environmental Movement vs. the Marcellus Shale,” the anti-fracking movement, using its friends in media and

As someone who has done work on an environmental cause lately (for the first time..well, since kindergarten), let me just say that I was stunned at how freaking rich environmentalists are.

Oh, I expected a bit of that, celebrities looking for publicity, but I didn´t expect hedge fund managers, Rothschilds, etc.

Saw premiere of Fracknation tonight in LA.
Great documentary. Great doco.
PHelan has a great way of showing how normal Americans are being deprived of the use of their land and the money it creates from fracking by the the false claims of jjosh Fox - Gas land and some envirimentalista.
Phelan gets support from Berkeley scientists that it does not pollute the groundwater nor does it cause earthquakes.
Interestingly, geothermal does cause seismic activity, wind turbines kill the birds and solar panels are made under unsafe conditions in China with rare metals.
Fracking can creat not only an economic revival in America - but rid us of the need for foreign oil and its entanglements.
No wonder UAE financed Matt Damon´s antiFracking nonsense.

A poll released Monday by the Pew Research Center has found that support for gay marriage is increasing in those who identify as Republicans under the age of 30. 61% of those polled who lean towards the party are in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage while only 35% oppose it. This is in stark contrast to Republicans over the age of 50 – only 27% of that audience support it. Pew also found a record high percentage of Americans – 54% – support allowing gays to marry. Only 18% of young Republicans said that “more gay and lesbian couples raising children”

At Grand Army Plaza, beneath the golden equestrian statue of General Sherman, the horses stand, lazily flicking their ears, and occasionally glancing around as a yellow taxi driven by an angry Pakistani wheels around past the Plaza Hotel, brakes squealing, an Al Qaeda friendly Nasheed blaring through the open window. Feathered plumes, scarlet red, sapphire blue, electric purple, matching the colors of the plush linings of their carriages, stir faintly in the wind. The drivers, wearing black top hats and colorful suits, chat with each other while waiting for a tourist from Baltimore or Beijing to take a ride. The horses

JAKARTA, Indonesia – U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday called climate change perhaps the world´s "most fearsome" destructive weapon and mocked those who deny its existence or question its causes, comparing them to people who insist the Earth is flat. In a speech to Indonesian students, civic leaders and government officials, Kerry tore into climate change skeptics. He accused them of using shoddy science and scientists to delay steps needed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases at the risk of imperiling the planet. A day earlier, the U.S. and China announced an agreement to cooperate more closely on

The further left a radical politician wants to go, the more likely he is to wrap his agenda in a mainstream Republican brand. In his interview with Bill O’Reilly, Obama compared himself to Nixon (not for the reason most Republicans would expect) and in his State of the City address, Bill de Blasio compared himself to Fiorello H. La Guardia; a former Republican mayor of New York City. The constant mentions of La Guardia, a universally popular figure, were a poor mask for a radical address filled with ugly divisive rhetoric, class warfare and schemes that will bankrupt the city.

No one knows the real name of the Port Hills Groper, the Muslim refugee who stalked and attacked over a dozen women jogging in Port Hills, even though he was arrested, tried and sentenced. Instead the New Zealand court gave him “permanent name suppression” to protect his status in his Muslim community. Judge Jane Farish, who had told a Maori rapist who had lured an Australian tourist into a dark street and beat her while trying to tear off her clothing “If I had my way I would release you today,” let the groper off with community service because his actions

For years, experts have been warning people in the American West they will have to make do with less water in the future. That dryer future already may have arrived. This year, for the first time in history, lower flows in the Colorado River have prompted the federal government to reduce the amount of water flowing into Lake Mead reservoir outside Las Vegas. Bureau of Reclamation officials say if the river´s level doesn´t increase soon, there´s a 50 percent chance that by next year, residents in Arizona, southern Nevada and California will have to start rationing water. Lawmakers are attaching some strings to $33 million in aid to Pakistan, making the funds contingent on freeing the doctor who helped the CIA find Usama bin Laden. The GOP-controlled House Appropriations Committee inserted language that appears to withhold the foreign aid unless the State Department certifies Dr. Shakil Afridi is released from prison, where he’s serving a 33-year sentence on a dubious conspiracy conviction. The condition left Pakistani officials fuming. “Any linkage of US assistance to this case is not in keeping with the spirit of cooperation between the two countries,” said Pakistan Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam. With Republicans tying themselves in knots over the Democrats’ destructive, but superficially appealing, demand that unemployment benefits be extended to two and a half years, I return to my suggestion that Republicans stop playing defense and go on offense. For every issue that MSNBC loves to prattle on about, gloating that it will cost Republicans this or that demographic, there’s an equivalent issue to use against the Democrats. (The difference is: Our proposals would actually be good for the country.) In addition to my repeated suggestion that Republicans introduce bills to institutionalize the dangerous mentally ill and force the Democrats

As Russia prepares to strut its stuff before the world at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, the economic foundation of Russian power and prosperity is crumbling, thanks to a strategic weapon developed by the United States. That weapon is fracking, and it is paying havoc with Russia´s ability to exercise power on the world stage. Three articles lay out the devastating consequences of this technological revolution developed mostly not by a national laboratory, huge government initiative, or top scientists, but by guys out in the Texas and Oklahoma oil patches. Republican leaders on the House Science Committee are accusing the Environmental Protection Agency of disregarding science in its push to impose carbon dioxide limits on power plants. Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, and 20 other Republican lawmakers sent a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy on Thursday, claiming the agency has "muzzled" members of its independent science advisory board. The EPA released a proposal in September that would set emissions caps for new coal-fired power plants and would likely require the industry to use carbon-capture technology, which involves burying the carbon underground. Critics of the proposed rule say the technology,

House Democrats again targeted the controversial Issa on Thursday, with a bid to force the California Republican to publicly apologize for what they dub his “repeated history of abuse” toward the minority party. In case you hadn’t heard, young people these days — a.k.a “the Millennials” — are the most cynical and distrusting generation ever recorded. Only 19 percent think most people can be trusted. They like their friends, their digital “social networks,” and their toys, and that’s about it. Fertility is the missing chapter in sex education. Sobering facts about women’s declining fertility after their 20s are being withheld from ambitious young women, who are propelled along a career track devised for men. The refusal by public schools’ sex-education programs to acknowledge gender differences is betraying both boys and girls. The genders should be separated for sex counseling. It is absurd to avoid the harsh reality that boys have less to lose from casual serial sex than do girls, who risk pregnancy and whose future fertility can be compromised by disease. Boys need lessons in basic ethics and moral reasoning
