| Rush: Charlotte, North Carolina. This is Melanie. I am so glad you waited. Welcome to the program. Hi. Caller: Thanks a bunch, Rush, for taking my call. I´m a proud gun owner and NRA member. My comment is, I don´t think the Obama administration is really interested in protecting people from gun violence. I think their real agenda is to bully conservatives and the NRA. You know, put the screws to the bitter clingers. That certainly seems to fit their template of political revenge. Rush: You know, I think you are on to something. One thing we do know, Boehner will roll over for anything Obama wants. The GOP has morphed into Democrat-Lite. They stabbed the Tea Party people in the back. They wouldn´t even dump Boehner in spite of his poor performance in standing up to Obama. I don´t trust Boehner anymore, period.

Rush: "I just got a note from Erick Erickson. He has an occasional guest spot on CNN. He´s at RedState.com. And he´s right about something here. He said (paraphrasing), "Mark the date, it isn´t gonna be long before moderate Republicans start going on television to push the notion that guns are hurting Republicans with independent voters and women." Just like abortion, just like the pro-lifers are hurting Republicans with independents. Just like immigration. The moderate linguini-spined Republicans, it isn´t gonna be long as this controversy heats up, you know, they wilt with a little heat."

Of course they will, the spineless plutocrats and power hungry swine.
States need to flex their muscles and start putting the gears in motion to make it a felony to enforce any of these lubricious federal gun/people control measures. Obama, balless Boehner, and Holder can all go to hell!!

Just my opinion, but if some Conservatives could EVER bring themselves to ENCOURAGE Republicans in Congress, rather than echoing the constant drumbeat of criticism from some pundits, there may be a different outcome in so many cases. Of course, it seems to be far more fun to continue to have the old "circular firing squad" at the ready, no matter the issue. IMO this is just another reason we lost the last election. democrats stand together right or wrong, but they DO stand up for each other. Something the GOP should learn to do.

Ninety-percent of our guns are not owned by African-Americans, hispanics, minority groups, they´re owned by white people. Now are these white people so afraid of out in the suburbs? The Justice Department is taking the first steps toward carrying out President Obama’s executive actions on gun control. Attorney General Eric Holder on Friday released three proposals to strengthen the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which was one of the 23 actions ordered by Obama last week to tackle gun violence. The proposed regulations would give local law-enforcement agencies access to the gun-sale database that is maintained by the FBI. The rules would also preserve records of denied weapons sales indefinitely. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act already requires federal background checks for gun purchases, but not every firearm

It’s a popular talking point with conservatives that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to act as a check on a tyrannical government, our own government. According to liberal radio and TV host Thom Hartman, though, the original purpose of the amendment was to act as a check on rebellious slaves, which might just put a kink in Gun Appreciation Day founder Larry Ward‘s theory about Martin Luther King. On Hartmann’s The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann, Hartmann laid it out. “Gun-crazy America is arming up,” he said. ”While Vice President Biden and his gun task force think of

Faced with increasingly stringent benchmarks—the government´s new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards require a passenger vehicle fleet that averages 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025—carmakers are taking another approach to achieving better fuel mileage: shaving weight off vehicles by experimenting with lighter materials. Automobiles have long been made from steel—a very strong, but heavy material. Now manufacturers are experimenting with new materials—ranging from aluminum to carbon fiber composites to metal alloys—to help companies reach the ambitious fuel efficiency standards. Author and economist Walter Williams told The Daily Caller that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect Americans from their own government — not simply to ensure hunting rights. Williams, a syndicated columnist and the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics at George Mason University, suggested that common misconceptions about the Second Amendment undermine the gun control debate. “[The Founding Fathers´] stated reason was to allow the American people to protect themselves from the United States Congress — that is, government.

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order. Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.” “I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.

Many of the responses I’ve gotten to my article on the Republican plan to use the debt ceiling as leverage to force Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass a budget have been along these lines: If it is against the law for Congress not to pass a budget (and it is), and if Harry Reid is violating that law (and he is), then why can’t something be done about it? Why can’t Reid be charged with something? Or perhaps a lawsuit be brought? The answer is the law requiring Congress to pass an annual budget, the Congressional Budget Act

Hagel, whose appointment would give Obama´s reshuffled second-term Cabinet a bipartisan cast, met the Democratic president at the White House this week to discuss a post on his national security team.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”
