I find I really don´t need to watch movies any more.

I could give two rips.

I hope this entire industry drifts into irrelevance. What a bunch of elitist, congratulatory, self-important, silicone sell-outs in over priced, gaudy outfits. (Pah-tooey).

Wake me when it´s over. The silver screen stars and starlets that made the Hollywood crowd worthy of praised are past extinct.

Talentless hacks. The whole lot.

Bad week for me. No nomination at the Peepuls Choyce Awards...now no nomination for the Ack-cademy Awe-ards. Damn.

#5 was my response when i watched lincoln

"Lincoln" is very, very good. "Les Miserables" is perhaps the best film from Hollywood in the last ten years.

It´s not that the film makers in Hollywood aren´t talented, or that they don´t make movies with value. It´s that they choose to funnel garbage at us, and champion values that undercut the principles that this country was founded upon. They praise depravity and despise virtue, and they get rewarded for this with obscene and despicable wealth. And they had the nerve to to blame Romney for the wealth that he honestly created.

I nominate Vice President Joe Biden for the Best Comedy Performance of the Year.

The last time I went to the movies was August 2003.

I only recall the incident because I was on vacation in FL and it was raining ... not much else to do, and I was recovering from arm surgery. It was a movie about a race horse.

I liked True Grit.

Lincoln - that´s CSPAN with whiskers. Let´s listen to D. D. Lewis raise his voice (just like he does in all his movies). He sounds just like Lincoln, oh wait, no one really knows what Lincoln sounds like. A real snooze list.

I´ve never heard of 90% of these people. I´m aware of "Lincoln" because of it´s hype. --But I DO am familiar with a LOT of Barbara Stanwyck movies I saw on TCM last month. Thank goodness for that network--despite the fact that it was founded by Turner.... The escapism is about all that gets me by sometimes! Can´t take the news channels anymore.

I think Les Miserables has gotten mixed reviews because of its Christian message and because Hugo himself had certain free market leanings (noting how Jean Valjean´s factory lifted up the people in his town and how, after he had to go on the run, the people again descended into poverty and stopped paying taxes). All of this could be ignored on the stage because the music was the star of the show. That is, I think, why so many complain that the singing isn´t as good in the movie as in the play.

I atually spent money to go see ´Lincoln´. Wish I had it back. Over hyped.

When did they start nominating more than 5 movies for best picture? And if there are so many wonderful movies each year, why only 5 nominees for all other categories?

The only movies I´ve been to in a decade were 2016 and Life of Pi.

Loved Les Mis. Also loved Moonrise Kingdom, MIB3, Argo, The Avengers, The Hunger Games, and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter (the better of the 2 Lincoln movies released last year!) As long as they don´t preach to me, or treat me like a ploddingly backward 7 year old, I am happy to give them my money so they can entertain me. But the Oscars are a joke, a bad joke. Haven´t watched them in years.

I´m with #11, John Wayne was great!

One of the worse movies I´ve seen in years was the "Master", it was disconnected and really had no plot line, but the worse film of the year had to be Brad Pitt´s "Killing then Softly", Most everyone in the theatre walked out before the movie ended.
