Those leaving New Jersey
lead incomers by a big margin

Philadelphia Inquirer, by Barbara Boyer

New Jersey is No. 1. Those pulling up roots have put the Garden State in the top spot nationally for outbound residents - at least, so says United Van Lines. The company has released its 2012 migration study, listing the most moved-into states and those that people are leaving. National trends show people leaving the Northeast and heading to the Southeast and Northwest. The main reasons are jobs, housing, taxes, and weather, said economist Michael Stoll, chair of the department of public policy at the University of California, Los Angeles. Stoll once lived in Boston and New York City, but headed

Comments:
The bad news? Not true of every last individual, but the overwhelming truth is that they´ll come to your area, and because they know best, they´ll immediately set about fouling "their" new home.

Map shows exodus from the Northeast, liberalizing NC and SC, and exodus from CA (influx of illegal aliens is not reflected on the map) heading to OR and NV.

Oh goody, more east coast know-it-alls coming to the west and screwing up the rest of the region like they did to California.

Sounds like #3 lives in DC. However, folks are pouring into that area as, only the Federal government seems to be hiring people with no marketable skills these days. MD probably gets the spillover.

Sorry about the blank....

What is not mentioned is the wage and wealth of those moving. Someone earning $200,000 per year is of a considerable different asset to the state, compared to a welfare type.

Keep in mind, this is based on United Van Lines data, so the info needs to be analyzed a little deeper. Take Nevada´s ranking on the plus side, for instance. You could read into the numbers that people can afford to hire movers when inbound, but are too poor after living there a few years to afford the same service, and so must resort to packing all their belongings (that they haven´t hocked) into the back of their run-down beater of a car and moving to some other state.

Not saying that is the case, I´m just saying these numbers on this map are hardly rock solid info.

3,925 families moved out of New Jersey due to Hurricane Sandy? In just over two months? Those families decided to leave, knew where they were going, hired the van line, packed up and left in just over two months? 3,925 families? I call BS on these stats. (Although I sure sympathize with those who want to leave the (formerly) Great State of New Jersey).

Philadelphia — New Jersey´s law requiring residents show a "justifiable need" to get a permit to carry a handgun in public was upheld by a federal appeals court. A mandate that residents demonstrate an "urgent necessity for self-protection" to get authorization to publicly carry a handgun doesn´t run afoul of U.S. constitutional protections of the right to bear firearms, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Philadelphia ruled Wednesday. "The justifiable need standard is a longstanding regulation that enjoys presumptive constitutionality," the panel wrote. The ruling comes more than four months after the U.S. Supreme Court rebuffed

Washington - As the military begins to embrace gays and lesbians, one group feels left out: transgender troops. These men and women weren´t even a blip on the nation´s radar until former Navy SEAL Team 6 member Chris Beck revealed in a memoir released last month that he had become Kristin Beck, a woman. It´s unknown how many transgender troops are serving in the U.S. military, largely because they would get kicked out for coming out. About 700,000 Americans in a population of more than 300 million are transsexuals, according to a 2011 study by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School

President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
