Come up with positive suggestions about how to keep guns out of the hands of psychotic and delusional people...and a lot of the baying for guns in general will go away.

I often hear that a determined killer can find another method. True for a typical criminal, but most people with psychosis/delusions see a particular method in their mind´s eye. If the delusion involves a gun, and a gun isn´t available, then the delusion doesn´t morph into poisoning or explosives or whatever. The delusional person will merely pursue the gun. So if we come up with a way to keep such delusional people away from guns, we have made a tremendous impact...and the issue of gun rights for the law-abiding becomes moot.

If these lunatics are a threat to society, lock them up. Simple.

The most deadly mass killing inflicted on a school - 1928, I think - involved explosives, not guns.

Mass shootings have declined over recent decades, not increased.

From photos of the perpetrators of the last several mass shootings, anyone who was in contact had to know they were psychotic. They looked nuts, were nuts, and should have been locked away under care. Thank you ACLU.

Guns are not designed to kill. They are designed to encourage the cessation of some behavior.

In most cases of self defense, the gun is never fired, and no one dies. The person attempting to commit the undesired behavior reevaluates his/her priorities.

Re: #1 - Poster is not responding in any way to the the article but is spouting the progressive line about gun control rhetoric - repeatedly in almost every article referencing guns. The issue of mentally unstable people is not the theme of this article and is not going to sway freedom-loving Americans to become complacent with the real intent of progressives, which is to disarm - essentially neuter citizens as a potential opposing force - the populace.

I see nothing on the horizon from this administration or democrats in general that will deal directly with the issue of mentally unstable people. Banning AR 15s and high capacity magazines does absolutely nothing to solve the mentally unstable issue any more than prohibition kept alcohol from the lips of determined citizens living under the ban. By and large, this forum is not fertile ground for cultivating fellow progressives no matter how strident and repetitive the propaganda.

Who determines who the psychotic and delusional people are and since when can we determine what´s in a person´s mind eye? (specifically a delusion involves a gun).

I agree with 12, not the author of the article - Guns are designed to stop, something or somebody. If they die as a result of being stopped, so be it.

Like Sam Colt said - God made man, Colt made him equal.

The weak, disabled or infirm will always be preyed upon by the stronger (robbery, assault, laws, taxes) and the only recourse is an equalizer.

Fire was designed to burn and it accomplishes much good, but it must be respected and used properly for good. Fire is here to stay.

Our world is full of things which are here to stay, which must thus be respected and used properly for good, ...including guns.
