Plan to save Detroit:
Invest in busier areas, turn
emptying neighborhoods to
farms, forests, ponds

Detroit Free Press, by John Gallagher

Original Article

A sometimes controversial exploration of how to save Detroit culminated today with the release of the massive Detroit Future City plan that suggests future investment in population centers, such as the West McNichols hospital corridor and Midtown, and allowing other areas to be used for other purposes — some of them neighborhoods where Detroiters have lived for generations but that have slowly lost population and vigor over time. Some of those areas might include Brightmoor, some blocks west of City Airport and parts of the lower east side. Among the most innovative ideas in the

Comments:
Effects of deindustrialization and the welfare state laid bare for all to ignore. Solution, Agenda 21-style? Return as much possible "to nature," cluster everyone together in high-density housing. Net effect: total disaster as every remaining taxpayer flees, refusing to live in maximum proximity with criminals.

Yes, indeed. What Detroit needs is more city planning.

I think they should put a 30´ fence around it, let a few lions loose, and then charge admission for armored cars to tour the place. Call it "African Safari".

I´ve got a great idea. Restructure downtown Detroit into a QUAINT Mall with QUAINT shops and boutiques and bookstores and COFFEE SHOPS. You know like Europe does. Might work.

Just selling the NWO file cabinet living that is being built in L.A. & N.Y. right now... Allocating 300 sf units per couple.
No need for accumulating stuff as you have no storage; No need for car, as you´ll be clustered in the new middle class hi rise file cabinet public housing.

The Progressive´s Utopia is right.

Exactly so - this is Agenda 21 looming large. The planners are putting the cart before the horse - no point in throwing buckets of tax payer dollars to prettify a cancerous sore until it proves its usefulness for some new industrial development.

5 and 12, burning already had a hand in the destruction of Detroit. Remember all those years when the hoodlums celebrated "Devil´s Night" (Halloween) by burning down buildings?

The problem was not entirely the loss of jobs. It was the failure of policing as well. Detroit became a city you wanted to move out of not into. It was governed by blacks for years. Face it, because it is the truth. They did not govern for the people´s good.

Corrupt city and county governments have been stealing from the city for years ......... nothing can help ´bring´ it back.

Detroit is just a ´Govt Reservation´ run like other ethnic reservations.

Ignoring the practical reasons why you can´t easily convert a city block into a farm, who is going to work this farm? Certainly not the people who live in Detroit. Who is going to guard the produce so it doesn´t get stolen or destroyed by the thugs that live there?

But when we did a little digging, the reality proved much different. Documents we obtained show in August of 2012, Yates applied and was approved for Section 8 housing for herself and her two kids.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school.
