DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida appellate court is being asked Tuesday to decide whether Casey Anthony was in police custody when she made statements that led to her being convicted of four counts of lying to law enforcement officers. Anthony´s attorneys are appealing the misdemeanor convictions on the grounds that her statements were inadmissible at her murder trial since she hadn´t been read her Miranda rights, which warn suspects that they can remain silent and that their statements can be used against them in court. If some brain dead Lib judge overtuns this verdict while she´s on tape lying her butt off I won´t be surprised. The police didn´t have to mirandize her until they actually suspected there was zanny, right?

How many books did that sleazy lawyer of hers (Jose Bayez) actually sell? And now Lifetime per some such is offering a view of the trial starring Rob Lowe as the prosecutor, and from the clips makes him sound like some sort of attention seeking jerk. I´d like to think the man actually wanted justice for a small child.

@5 I watched a lot of the trial, and believe me, justice for her little girl was not one of the things talked about. She will burn in Hell some day unless she asks God for forgiveness for murdering her little child. One of the saddest things I´ve seen.

Natural gas prices

Natural gas prices, up more than 45% year-to-date on cold weather demand and slumping supplies, surged 11% Wednesday, hitting their highest levels since 2009. The price on contracts for March delivery jumped to $6.22 per million British thermal units in early trading before settling at $6.15 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was the highest price since late 2009. Behind the run-up: expectations that the cold weather that´s plagued the Midwest and Northeast and parts of other regions since December will linger, keeping demand high. The jump came after the National Weather Service forecast another round of sub-freezing temperatures

Alexandria, Virginia - Ruthanne Lodato´s killer announced himself with a knock at the door. He waited on the porch, standing beside the American flag that hangs outside the house, and when the 59-year-old music teacher answered he shot her to death in her own hallway. The man then turned the gun on her elderly mother´s caretaker, wounding her before walking down the garden path and back onto the street. Mrs Lodato´s murder, committed seemingly at random and in broad daylight at 11.30am, would on its own be enough to unsettle the city of Alexandria, a wealthy suburb of Washington DC.

BERLIN - Volkswagen´s top labor representative threatened on Wednesday to try to block further investments by the German carmaker in the southern United States if its workers there are not unionized. Workers at VW´s factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, last Friday voted against representation by the United Auto Workers union (UAW), rejecting efforts by VW representatives to set up a German-style works council at the plant. German workers enjoy considerable influence over company decisions under the legally enshrined "co-determination" principle which is anathema to many politicians in the U.S. who see organized labor as a threat to profits and job growth. Conventional wisdom for 2016 goes like this: Republicans are heading toward a bruising primary while, if she runs, Hillary Rodham Clinton is the de facto Democratic nominee. And, that CW goes, that is a very good thing for the Democratic Party. Not necessarily. The positives for Democrats of nominating Clinton basically by acclamation are obvious. She is well known, well liked and a proven commodity on the campaign trail. Polling suggests she has a massive primary lead and a double-digit lead in the general election as well. And she is a Clinton. The negatives are less obvious but have both

The latest comments from Jammeh, who last year branded gays a threat to humanity, coincide with a renewed crackdown on same-sex relationships in Africa, where homosexuality is taboo and illegal in 37 countries. In recent months, Nigeria has outlawed same-sex relationships and Uganda has voted for life imprisonment for some homosexual acts. Sarah Palin has made an endorsement in Texas. She’s backing tea party leader Katrina Pierson over Rep. Pete Sessions. In a Facebook post, Palin notes that Pierson’s “life’s story is full of hardships she has fought to overcome, which taught her firsthand the importance of self-reliance, hard work, and the blessings of liberty.” One of those hardships includes a 1997 arrest for shoplifting. As the Dallas Morning News reported on Valentine’s Day, “In 1997, five days before her 21st birthday, Katrina Pierson, then named Katrina Lanette Shaddix, was arrested on a charge of theft of greater than $50 and less than $500.” Pierson,

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 17, 2014 – President Barack Obama has elevated the right to have sex with a member of the same sex to the level of universal “fundamental freedoms” in a new presidential statement criticizing Uganda. But critics say his promotion of homosexuality in a continent that overwhelmingly opposes that behavior amounts to a form of liberal “cultural imperialism.” Obama wrote on Sunday that he opposed a proposed bill in Uganda that would criminalize same-sex “marriages” and impose life imprisonment for repeated homosexual acts, among other provisions, because “as a country and a people, the United States has consistently

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) are now in position to end the Tea Party’s death grip on the Republican Party’s political future. Last week, Boehner and McConnell faced down the Tea Party’s threat to cripple the government when they supported raising the nation’s debt ceiling. That move prevented GOP political suicide. If the nation’s credit rating, stocks and the recovery went down the sewer because of Republicans’ refusal to raise the debt ceiling, the GOP’s chances in the midterm elections would have been severely damaged. He argued that Americans support raising the minimum wage because it will lift "struggling" families out of poverty: "But they also know what it´s like to see a friend, a neighbor, where one spouse goes back to work, who would prefer maybe not to work. Maybe they´re working part-time just to supplement the family´s income. And they think, if that

The former senator’s strong second-place showing in 2012 shocked—even scared—the GOP’s kingmakers, who saw in him an abortion-hating firebrand with no chance of beating Barack Obama. So it’s no surprise that today, the party’s mainstreamers are acting like he’s old news, again dismissing a Santorum presidential candidacy. Not that he cares. He’s too busy plotting another possible run at the White House. In recent months, Santorum has gathered his inner circle of longtime advisers to sketch out a presidential campaign. As American voters watch ObamaCare continue its Godzilla-like rampage across the national health-care landscape, it´s worth considering the collateral damage this political monster may be doing to the Democratic brand itself. What if ObamaCare´s problems become a metaphor for the modern Democratic Party? Two portents emerged the past week. The United Auto Workers suffered a humiliating defeat at Volkswagen VOW3.XE -0.49% in Tennessee. And days before that loss, voters San Diego elected Republican Kevin Faulconer mayor after he teed up his opponent as a captive of the city´s public unions. Two big constituencies sacked in a week.
