Bill Benter emerges as financial

One of the funders behind an ad campaign promoting Chuck Hagel’s nomination to head the Pentagon is also a major donor to the liberal advocacy group Media Matters for America. Hagel, who President Barack Obama tapped Monday as his nominee to head the Defense Department, is already under fire from critics who say he “has sought to distance the United States from Israel” during his career. According to a Foreign Policy magazine report Monday night, a substantial ad campaign aimed at swatting such attacks on Hagel is already underway, and gambling magnate Bill Benter

Comments:
I wonder if Hagel finds pleasure in selling his soul to the Devil. "Republicans" like him sicken me.

Mediaite has learned from a senior source in the cable news industry with knowledge of MSNBC’s programming that actor Alec Baldwin is getting his own weekly show in MSNBC’s primetime lineup. According to our source, the so far untitled show will air Fridays at 10 p.m. ET and will feature a large dose of Baldwin’s outspoken liberal politics. The gig would make sense, considering Baldwin’s long history with the NBC family. He starred on the network’s award-winning sitcom 30 Rock for seven years, has frequently hosted Saturday Night Live, and hosted the network’s American

Media Fail: 63% Want Congress
to Keep Going After ObamaCare
Breitbart´s Big Journalism, by John Nolte    Original Article

One of the new talking points we are seeing throughout the mainstream media is a mocking "Here we go again" attack-narrative against the Republican Congress as they maneuver to defund ObamaCare, or work to kill various parts of ObamaCare. But a new poll shows that almost two-thirds of the American people want Congress to keep at it. Fox News notes that when asked if the "health care law needs to be changed and Congress should keep at it, 63% said yes. That is up from 58% a year ago." Only 31% oppose. Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) said Congress should focus its immigration policy on securing the southern border with Mexico because Arab terrorists disguised as Hispanics could try to cross into the country illegally. “There are people that can’t tell the difference between a Hispanic person and an Arab person,” the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said at a town-hall meeting, according to a video obtained by Buzzfeed. “If you get an Arab that’s coming into this country to be a terrorist, they can mingle in, and they can get in here, and then they can do damage.”

Former Florida Rep. Allen West had harsh words of criticism for nationally known civil rights activists like Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton, who have remained silent on a video showing black teens beating a white boy, 13, on a school bus: “Ya’ll just make me sick.” The video, which went viral this past week, depicts a July 9 assault on a Pinellas County school bus. Three black teenage boys, all age 15, beat a white boy, while the bus driver — who has since resigned — tries to verbally halt the altercation but does not physically intervene.

Obama ‘certain’ Senate immigration

President Obama on Friday said he’s “absolutely certain” the Senate’s immigration reform bill would pass the House if it were allowed a vote. “Get that bill to the floor,” the president said at a press conference before embarking on a weeklong August vacation. House Republican leaders have declared the Senate bill dead on arrival and are pursuing a series of piecemeal bills that they say would do more to secure the border. Obama said the only thing holding up immigration reform is “internal Republican caucus politics.” He said GOP lawmakers are making the

Urged by President Obama to extend sweeping federal benefits to legally married same-sex couples following a court victory for gay rights, the Department of Labor Friday told employees that spousal leave for maternity and long-term illness will be included with other federal benefits like retirement. Newly-installed Labor Secretary Thomas Perez is moving swiftly to provide benefits to the spouses of gay and lesbian employees now that the Defense of Marriage Act is dead, the result of a June Supreme Court decision. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Friday that it’s “obvious” that some Republicans are continuing to do “everything they can” to ensure President Barack Obama’s legislative priorities fail and said he hopes the GOP opposition isn’t based on the president’s race. On issues like tweaking Obamacare during its implementation and passing the president’s priorities, Reid said on Nevada’s NPR affiliate that he’s still seeing the same Republican obstructionism that he saw in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election. “I hope that’s based on substance and not the fact that he’s an African-American,” Reid added.

ObamaCare’s cost-cutting board — memorably called a “death panel” by Sarah Palin — is facing growing opposition from Democrats who say it will harm people on Medicare. Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean drew attention to the board designed to limit Medicare cost growth when he called for its repeal in an op-ed late last month. Dean was quickly criticized by supporters of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), who noted his ties to the healthcare industry as an adviser to a major D.C. lobbying firm. But this week´s disclosure that a specific conference call between al Qaeda leaders was detected and recorded by the National Security Agency is precisely the sort of information that should not be in the public domain until the threat has passed, precisely the sort of secret that almost no one has a problem with the government keeping. President Obama told U.S. troops on Wednesday that Americans would not shrink in the face of terror threats that forced the closure of nearly two dozen diplomatic facilities overseas. “The United States is never going to retreat from the world,” Obama said to Marines at Camp Pendleton, near San Diego. “We don’t get terrorized.” The Obama administration has alluded to a significant threat to Americans abroad, ordering the evacuation of non-essential personnel from a U.S. compound in Yemen — and ramping up drone strikes there. Obama and his surrogates have repeatedly trumpeted the decimation of terrorist

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie holds a narrow lead among Republicans for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination, but even more GOP voters say he’s the candidate they least want to see nominated. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that Christie earns 21% support when Republican voters are asked whom they would vote for if the party’s primary in their state were held today. Florida Senator Marco Rubio runs a close second with 18% of the GOP vote, followed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 16% and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul with 15% of the vote.

Barack Obama delivered one gaffe after another in his August 6 interview with Jay Leno, but the networks that usually mock every mistake or slip of the tongue made by Republicans ignored the President´s verbal mishaps. Ending a war is a good thing. Killing civilians a bad thing. Deliberately targeting civilians is murder, and is never morally licit, even in pursuit of a good thing such as ending a war. The tens of thousands of Japanese non-combatants we killed 68 years ago this week with two nuclear bombs were not “collateral damage” of military strikes. They were the intended targets. We hoped that mass murder would bring the Japanese emperor to surrender. It worked, and American and Japanese soldiers’ lives were probably saved by it —

In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America’s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory. The policy is called, "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing." It will require HUD to gather data on segregation and discrimination in every single neighborhood and try to remedy it. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan unveiled the federal rule at the NAACP convention in July. "Unfortunately, in too many of our hardest hit communities, no matter how hard

National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden extended his 15 minutes of fame Wednesday, as headlines tied his saga to President Barack Obama’s decision to cancel a planned summit meeting in Moscow next month with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But analysts said the talk of Snowden’s role in the cancellation obscured a more basic reality: The U.S.-Russia relationship is now so frosty that it didn’t appear the two presidents would actually accomplish enough to merit such a high-profile meeting. After four years, the much-vaunted reset in U.S.-Russian relations has devolved into a chilly standoff over issues like the Kremlin’s support for Syria

“IQ is a metric of such dubiousness that almost no serious educational researcher uses it anymore,” the Guardian’s Ana Marie Cox wrote back in May. It was a breathtakingly ignorant statement. Psychologist Jelte Wicherts noted in response that a search for “IQ test” in Google’s academic database yielded more than 10,000 hits — just for the year 2013. Journalists are steeped in the lay wisdom, so they are repeatedly surprised when someone forthrightly discusses the real science of mental ability.
